Chapter 110: The Strongest Monster In The Dungeon
[DING! Congratulations, Agares! You have defeated the mini boss monster]
[Name: Dragon Flame Champion]
[Level: 7]
[+4000exp]
[EXP: 467500/480200] [+4000]
[Dropped Item:]
[20x Gold Coins]
[1x Crimson Drake Scale]
[1x Embercore Fang]
[10x Monster Core]
Agares was the one who landed the final hit, so he had the right to the dropped items. He looked at the items, noticing some of them had fire affinity, just like the monster they had fought.
Even so, with such high quality, they could mix these items with common materials to make just about anything. Agares remembered Aoi’s claw weapon.
Her claw weapon had dark affinity, because it was made with materials of that type. But even so, the dark affinity didn’t seem to help Aoi very much.
Agares had always noticed this—especially during some of Aoi’s attacks. The damage she dealt could have been way higher.
He stored the items for later use as weapon forging materials, then turned to look at Aoi.
"Are you tired?"
Aoi smiled and shook her head. She wasn’t too tired and said she could help Agares again in the next battle.
Agares stayed silent. He stood up and looked at the sky above the crater, where a system panel appeared showing the cooldown timer for the red mini boss’s respawn.
The cooldown was the same as before—just one hour.
[Cooldown:]
[00:00:59:45]
"We should leave this place. The smell of sulfur can be toxic if we breathe in too much."
"Okay, Agares."
Aoi jumped up onto Agares’s shoulder and followed wherever he went. He walked confidently out of the lava-filled crater and headed toward the hallway that led to the floor boss room.
The door had fully opened, revealing a hallway with a ceiling as high as four meters. Agares stepped inside, leaving the mini boss room behind. As he entered, the hallway door closed behind them.
Aoi glanced back briefly, then looked forward again, swallowing hard.
"Are we close?" Aoi asked.
Agares lifted his eyes and saw the arrow on his map pointing to the right. Sure enough, just ahead of them was a right turn with no signs of danger.
He turned the corner and stopped when they reached a four-way intersection. There were three hallways in front of him, but the smart navigation pointed Agares and Aoi to the middle path.
Still, Agares was curious about what was in the left and right hallways. He stabbed his sword into the ground and raised his hand to chest level. He activated his third saber skill, which was also his newest.
"Saber Skill: Shadow Clone!"
Energy gathered around Agares’s body and separated off to the side, forming a perfect clone that looked exactly like him—except without the same power.
The clone stood next to Agares, opened its eyes, and glanced at its original.
"What are your orders?" the clone asked.
"Go check all three hallways. Don’t engage in any fights."
"Understood."
Just as Agares commanded, the clone walked into the left hallway. Agares shared its vision by shifting his awareness from his body into the clone’s.
In the left hallway, he clearly saw a mysterious treasure chest guarded by a group of mini Dragon Flame monsters, each about 2 to 3 meters tall.
Agares’s order was clear—his clone must not fight the mini dragon monsters. That would only hurt him.
The clone returned to the intersection and explored the middle path. There, it found a large room with a red dragon inside. That was the floor boss room.
Lastly, the clone stepped into the right hallway and found a dead end. There was nothing there.
But just as it was about to return, a trap was triggered, burning the clone into ashes. A black shadow flew from the destroyed clone back to Agares’s body. But this caused damage to him.
[-300 dmg]
Agares coughed up blood from the backlash of the destroyed clone. Still, the damage wasn’t too bad—he had lots of HP left and was still mostly fine.
What mattered most was that now he knew exactly where all three hallways led.
"Are you okay?" Aoi asked. Agares cleared his throat and nodded.
"I’m fine."
"Where are we going next?" Aoi asked.
Agares raised his hand and pointed straight ahead—toward the middle hallway that led to the floor boss.
None of the three paths were "safe," but Agares just had to head there and win the battle.
That way, he could learn the mystery behind the 81st floor and what kind of connection this dungeon had with the Saber sigil.
Aoi nodded. She would follow whatever decision Agares made and was determined to help him later.
The two of them stepped into the boss room of the 80th floor. In front of Agares stood the massive shape of a red dragon, with two large wings and a thick body.
It looked just like the earlier dragon, but this one was much bigger and stronger.
Seeing humans approach, the dragon turned and let out a loud roar at Agares. Agares stabbed his sword into the ground to protect himself from the blast of the roar.
The roar only lasted a few seconds. After that, the red dragon started flapping its wings and launched an attack at Agares.
The protection from Shadepiercer couldn’t block the strong gust of wind from the dragon’s wings. Agares was thrown far back and slammed into the wall. A damage panel popped up.
[-1500 dmg]
[HP: 10550/12350] [-1500]
Agares tried to stand while wiping blood from the corner of his mouth. He looked back and saw Aoi limping and trying to avoid the fight.
He couldn’t let Aoi get too far from his attention and protection. Agares scooped Aoi into his arms and ran around the area, dodging fire bursts shooting up from underground.
"I’m sorry, Agares."
"Can you hold onto my shoulder?" Agares asked.
"I can!"
Aoi climbed up Agares’s arm until she was on his shoulder, digging her sharp claws into his armor to hold herself in place.
Agares had never expected the 80th floor boss to be this troublesome. Not only did he have to dodge the dragon’s fireballs and wind slashes from its wings, but he also had to watch out for the battlefield itself.
That’s right! The ground had lava vents, and each one could shoot up bursts of fire at random. The most obvious sign was the ring of flame patterns on the ground—five seconds before the fire shot up.
With the room’s power and the dragon’s fast attacks, it was really hard for Agares to get close enough to land a hit.
"Saber Skill: Eclipse Execution!"
Agares jumped up and flew into the air, his body glowing with a dark purple aura. He held onto Shadepiercer as the red moon and the dark, bat-winged god’s energy gathered and condensed into a massive Shadepiercer sword floating in front of him.
With a swing, he pointed the sword straight at the dragon. The giant purple blade shot down, slicing through the air and sending shockwaves behind it.
The dragon flew up and blasted fire forward—attacking the sword itself, which caught Agares off guard.
’The sword attack... got stopped?’
BLAST!
The massive Shadepiercer sword exploded from the red dragon’s fire breath. Agares coughed up blood as the failed skill backlash hit him hard.
[-1000 dmg]
[HP: 9550/12350] [-1000]
But Agares still had another attack—the meteor shower. He summoned the red moon in his left hand and crushed it hard. He stretched his hand toward the dragon.
"What?!"
Agares was shocked.
The red dragon flapped its wings and destroyed the thousands of meteors falling from the sky.
Not only that—it also blew Agares backward, slamming him into the room’s wall. A damage panel appeared along with a warning.
[-3500 dmg]
[HP: 6050/12350] [-3500]

’Damn it! Why is this dragon so strong?’
’I can’t keep dragging Aoi into this. She could die.’
’Damn!’
’Looks like I don’t have a choice... I have to use that skill!’
