Chapter 331: Unable to Produce an Heir
Chapter 331: Unable to Produce an Heir
"What is taking her so long to get pregnant? Fall is already upon us, and there’s still no news of an heir. This is concerning. All eyes are on us right now, and sooner or later they will take action and blame this to Nikolai. The Wagner Clan is just waiting for an opportunity and this might just be one of the valid reasons that they can use, Queen Mother. Nikolai must consider taking a mistress. You must convince him to do it," The tenth prince, Alister, commented.
Rania took a sip from the fresh blood inside of her cup before she gracefully placed it down on the table. Alister was someone who had worried too much about the Ichor Clan being overthrown. Among all the Princes, he was the one who had the tendency to excessively spend their finances and thoroughly enjoy being part of the royal family.
"Why talk to me about this concern of yours instead of directly telling your brother?" Rania snorted, ignoring how crumple and sour the Prince’s face was at the moment.
She was aware that Alister had a point, but she simply didn’t like his intentions, she knew that this bastard only mentioned this out of his concern for the continuous privileges that he currently had rather than out of concern for his half-brother, Nikolai. He was a hypocrite like his mother. Rania unknowingly massaged her head as she recalled the pain she experienced from Alister’s mother. Mistress Ryza was the worst and most shameless Mistress of Arturo.
"I already talked to him, Queen Mother, but you know Nikolai. He never listens to me. He’s so into that huma-" Alister halted followed by an audible gulp as he noticed the sharp stare she directed towards him.
"Know your place, Prince Alister. I will not tolerate any disrespect towards our Queen. Nikolai was very clear with his verdict on how everyone should treat her, with the same amount of respect that you pay the King. I will not hesitate to report any misconduct before me!" she authoritatively growled.
Alister’s face paled at her sudden outburst. Everyone knew how heartless and merciless Nikolai was when it came to his wife and the Queen of their kingdom. He quickly bowed and said, "I humbly apologize, Queen Mother. I will be sure to be careful of my words. But please also consider the whole clan about this matter... Nikolai’s failure is Ichor Clan’s demise..."
Rania sighed heavily and said, "I will take this matter into consideration and have a conversation with Nikolai to work harder on producing an heir. Because we both know that your suggestion for Nikolai to get a mistress will not happen. You should not worry, Prince Alistair because Nikolai still has enough time. We still have three more seasons for our King and Queen to produce a rightful heir in order for the prophecy to happen. I don’t see the need for you to worry on this matter."
"But," Alister breathed but he was stopped by another sharp glare from Rania, "You’re now dismissed, Prince Alister."
She didn’t want to waste a single of her second talking to this spoiled Prince.
"I will take my leave then, Queen Mother. It’s been a pleasure to have this drink with you." Alister politely said with a curt bow before leaving Rania alone in her study room.
It was not just Alister who had approached her with this, as some members of the Ichor Clan had previously talked to her as well about this concern. Those members were simply concerned for their king, which is why they were so adamant in asking her for updates on any progress of their King and Queen’s fertility. And she had the same sentiments as well. She was getting impatient but then she would always remind herself to trust his son on this matter so she would support Nikolai until the end.
After a terse of silence, Rania called out for a servant and instructed, "Get me our royal physicians..."
Maybe she should ask those physicians to visit the queen regularly and see if there was something wrong. Surely Mineah would not take offense to that action, right? Or maybe it would be better to ask Nikolai first before she makes any move.
"Is she taking the medicines I gave her?" Rania murmured to herself. She simply shrugged at the question in her head, knowing that she would take it of her own will because she could feel how the Queen was so hellbent on getting pregnant as well.
"Could it be that the problem is in Nikolai?" she worriedly murmured. "I must also ask those physicians to look at Nikolai and make sure that he’s capable of creating a child."
Queen Mother Rania suddenly grew concerned, as it hadn’t occurred to her that Nikolai might be the one facing difficulties in producing an heir. Her face paled as she quickly stood up. She should personally handle their affairs to ensure confidentiality.
Queen Rania tried her best to calm her thoughts and stay positive. She was sure that Mineah and Nikolai would soon have a baby, and as she said, they still had three seasons to wait for it to happen.

At The Wagner Clan
Sage released a heavy sigh as she watched her son casually sip on the glass of blood in his hand. Like always, he remained calm despite the situation. Amed was a very quiet and mysterious man, and even she, as his mother, had a really hard time deciphering him or even trying to know what was going on inside his head. But one thing was for sure Amed had a brilliant mind and he deserved the crown than Nikolai! She strongly believed that her son was the one mentioned in the prophecy and not Nikolai!
"Mother. Say what you want to say instead of just staring at me like that," Amed murmured as he poured another fresh human blood into his cup. He was flipping pages of the plans of new buildings and projects in line for other provinces.
"Some members of the Ichor Clan are wary that the Queen is still not pregnant. Like you expected, a lot of them are proposing that the King take a mistress that can bear him a son. The fools who are not well versed regarding the details of the prophecy thought that our kingdom would be protected enough once he finally had an heir. Many are still unaware that he must have a child with someone from the royal family of Ward in order to have the divine blood in their veins." Sage pointed out.
"This is not the right time to strike Mother. We managed to wait for almost a decade so I don’t see any harm waiting for a few months. Continue providing secret help to those in need, and coax them to side with our group. We need more support against the current crown when the uprising comes... We need all the assistance we can get even for the poorest of souls in Valcrez. They all have a use," Amed hummed.
"Yes, we’re already doing that, Amed. But there are still a few more seasons left, and anything can happen. What if Nikolai manages to get the Queen pregnant?" Sage pointed out.
Her frown deepened when it took him some time before Amed replied to her. "He won’t be able to get her pregnant." he confidently replied. Her son obviously knew something, and Sage was aware of how futile it was to ask for more details. Amed would not disclose too much and often kept what he knew to himself.
He put down the papers he was holding and placed his hands flat on the table and raised his head to meet her gaze.
"We need to break the King and Queen’s relationship no matter what and use this scenario regarding having a baby. But the Wagner Clan must stay quiet about this matter. This disarray about having a baby should come from within the Rossi Clan. Make sure that our spies inside Rossi Clan will deliver this task efficiently and have Eva take charge of this matter regarding mistresses." Amed instructed.
"Should I spread rumors too about the Queen having problems getting pregnant?" Sage asked, knowing that it was a good plan.
"No... Leave the Queen’s reputation unscathed, and instead spread rumors that it’s Nikolai who is unable to produce an heir. Let the King receive all the burns for his Queen. After all, I need Mineah’s position on the throne to remain intact. Once the uprising happens, she’ll stay on the seat as my Queen..." Amed nonchalantly stated. Sage really wondered what was going on inside her Son’s mind. Did he even like the Queen?
But then she realized that it was the only right move because the prophecy was so clear... They needed a woman from the Wagner Clan who was a descendant of a fallen angel. Their divine essence is very crucial for their kingdom’s great success and progress.
