Chapter 325: Happy Birthday (1)

Mineah did even notice how many days had already passed by. Who would have thought that this coming midnight was already her twenty-first birthday? With a lot of things going on around, she honestly didn’t expect to celebrate it at all despite how much she really enjoyed balls and parties often thrown by her parents during her birthdays.

Already, Dani and the others tried talking to her about celebrating it and discussing the details with Nikolai a week ago, but Mineah didn’t allow them to do anything. Instead, she told them not to disturb Nikolai about it. Her husband was busy enough to be bothered with this, and besides, there were other opportunities to celebrate her future birthdays anyway. As such, she made it clear to them that she wouldn’t have any plans to celebrate it.

So there she was now, doing her usual routine for the night before going to bed. For the past few days, Nikolai would come and join her in bed very late in the night, so she already expected the same to happen that night as well.

"I’m not really expecting anything, but I’ll be very happy if he’ll greet me this midnight at least," she snorted with a pout as she walked out of the privy after changing into her nightgown. As usual, it looked as if she would also be sleeping first that night since Nikolai wasn’t around yet. A while ago, he already informed her that he would join her late at night.

With a sigh, Mineah crawled onto the bed and laid herself down onto the mattress. She then closed her eyes, and not long after, she fell into a deep sleep.

However, it wasn’t long until she stirred in bed when she heard Nikolai’s voice coming through their bond.

[Happy birthday, my love,] Nikolai repeatedly hummed to her before then singing her the usual birthday song.

Smiling, Mineah slowly opened her eyes as she moved her body to sit up on the bed. Immediately, she gasped as she saw the beautiful candles and flower petals on the floor. Her gaze followed the trail, and sure enough, there was Nikolai standing not far before her.

"Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you..."

Nikolai’s melodious voice filled their bedchamber as he slowly approached her with a cake topped with candles. It was the first time she heard him sing like this, and she loved how his voice sounded. From there, her smile only widened as he greeted her.

"Happy birthday to my favorite person and blessing, my lovely and dear wife," Nikolai lovingly greeted her. "I love you so much. Now blow off your twenty-one candles."

She chuckled at his words before taking a deep breath. With a short smile, she then blew out all the candles on top of the cake. She didn’t expect this at all. It wasn’t anything grand, but she was more than satisfied just hearing him sing the birthday song to her and greeting her this midnight on her birthday.

After all the candles were put out, Nikolai put down the cake before quickly pulling her close to him and lovingly and passionately kissing her on the lips. With each second that passed, the more Mineah felt like she was drowning in bliss.

"Thank you," she murmured in between his kisses before it deepened. However, just before it could get deeper, he suddenly broke the kiss, leaving her panting and wanting for more.

"Ah, you’re supposed to get ready," he told her as he backed away.

"Ready?" Mineah asked with a frown. "Ready for what?"

Nikolai had a naughty smile on his face as he said, "I’ll see you soon, my love. Try finding me amongst the crowd."

Those were his last words before he then disappeared before her. The door then swung open, letting Krisha and a few servants enter the room.

"Let’s prepare you, Your Majesty," Krisha smiled at her. "Goodness, I can’t believe how much His Majesty put us all on the spot. Still, it looks like he already prepared for everything, even the dress. Come now. Let us help you get changed and ready..."

Mineah was speechless as she let those who entered the bed chambers ready her for her supposedly birthday celebration. She didn’t know what was happening, but she could only assume that it would be great.

[You... Shouldn’t we be going together?] Mineah questioned Nikolai through their bond.

[I’ll wait for your arrival here, Mine,] Nikolai answered with a chuckle.

After a while, the servants finished up their preparations, and Mineah gasped as she saw her own reflection in the mirror. She was currently wearing a beautiful dress complete with a pair of beautiful wings that made her look like an angel.

"You look magnificent and beautiful, milady!" Krisha burst out, making Mineah smile at her brightly. "Let me escort you outside."

Mineah nodded in agreement. Her dress was indeed glamorous and extravagant, giving her the idea that her dear husband had prepared something lavish for her. Obviously, excitement filled her as she thought about what exactly it could be.

Thankfully, she didn’t have to wait for long as she made her way outside. Looking at the arrangements, she gulped upon seeing a few men and women lined up along the sides of the path with lamps in their hands. It was as if they were guiding her with light as she walked down a beautiful pathway filled with flower petals that gave off a relaxing and refreshing scent in the cold night. They all bowed to her as she passed by, greeting her with a happy birthday with each step.

Mineah blushed at all of the attention. Behind her, Krisha followed, but that almost didn’t matter as she focused more on the scene in front of her. She wanted to read the thoughts of some of them, but she managed to hold herself back to not kill or spoil the mood. She was just thrilled to see what would happen next.

"Oh my goodness, His Majesty is so thoughtful," Krisha whispered to her from behind, making her smile almost reach her ears. "All this time, he played nonchalance so well while having all of this arranged... He actually managed to arrange this surprise birthday celebration for you."

Mineah couldn’t believe her ears. Did her husband really go to the extent of disturbing everybody in their palace just to greet her like this?

[I know what you’re thinking, but rest assured that I didn’t disturb them just to greet you as you make your way to me,] Nikolai suddenly told her through their bond. [I declared the whole day of your birthday to be a royal feast so they could also have fun.]

[I see...] she snorted. [I actually stopped myself from reading their thoughts for fear of seeing how much they were cursing you or me for disturbing them in their chores or rest just to line the sides of my pathway that I walked through.]

Still walking and smiling, Mineah stopped as Laura blocked her way with a grin on her face.

"Hmm, what is going on?" she mumbled, rapidly blinking...
