Chapter 326: Happy Birthday (2)
"Happy birthday, Your Majesty," Laura greeted with a curt bow.
Mineah was about to say something in return, but a servant then approached her with a beautiful piece of fabric in her hands. "This is a gift from His Majesty. The finest cloak in all the kingdoms, made with the feathers of a magical swan maiden," Laura continued as she explained to Mineah what it was.
"It’s a cloak that can give you much warmth but His Majesty wants to reiterate that his arms are still the best in giving you warmth like no other..."
Mineah chuckled as Laura then moved to give way for her. "Please continue with your destination, Your Majesty," she stated with a grin. "I will make sure that this gift from His Majesty will be well kept..."
"Thank you, Laura..." Mineah nodded.
From there, she continued her walk following the path of petals and the people standing on both sides to make sure that her way was lit. As always, they all courteously greeted her with a smile and a bow as she passed by.
"So, what do we have here this time?" Mineah hummed to herself upon seeing Zaila blocking her way.
"Happy Birthday, your Majesty," Zaila greeted her with her widest smile and curt bow.
Mineah watched as her shadow maiden then opened a box that a servant was holding for her. She then took something out, and Mineah raised a brow at what she saw.
"Boots?"
"These are no ordinary boots, Your Majesty!" Zaila quickly explained. "It’s a gift from His Majesty that will allow you to walk and run at an amazing speed!"
"Did he want me to run away from him then?" she jokingly asked.
"Absolutely not! His Majesty said that you should use these to find your way back to him," Zaila explained with a chuckle. "You see, these magical boots are laced with His Majesty’s blood so that it could lead you wherever he is."
"Oh, I see..." Mineah hummed in understanding.
Looking at the boots, Mineah couldn’t help but be fascinated with her husband’s over-the-top effort, especially with all the gifts and words that were delivered to her by her shadow maidens.
"So romantic," Zaila commented with a squeal. "I should keep this gift safe and secure for now in your private treasury, Your Majesty. Please continue with your walk now."
Mineah nodded, so she continued walking down the pathway. Eventually, she found yet another stop that she had to stand in front of.
"Another stop?" Mineah chortled as she looked at Niran who simply gave her a timid smile and a curt bow.
"Happy twenty-first birthday, Your Majesty," Niran greeted her with a gentle smile. "Let me show you one of His Majesty’s gifts for your birthday."
Niran then pulled out the gift in question, to which Mineah couldn’t help but snort as she saw it.
"A carpet?"
"This is a legendary carpet, Your Majesty. One of its kind," Niran quickly explained to her. "There are no spells on it, but it can be used to transport things instantaneously to your desired destination."
Mineah yet again raised her brow at what she just heard. She was familiar with the item in question, and she couldn’t believe how his husband was even able to acquire this magical item.
"Thank you yet again, I guess," she humorously chuckled. "Any additional antics from my husband?"
"He said that no matter where your desired destination is, he will always be your final destination..." Niran said with a grin.
A second passed, and Mineah couldn’t help but choke in her own spit before she finally let it all out. It was those words that finally made her burst out into a fit of laughter. "Oh... Since when did my husband become so cheesy?!" she laughed out.
Still, she was really enjoying every minute of her birthday right now because of her husband’s surprise. But while she was laughing at it all with joy and amusement, she wouldn’t deny the fact that her husband’s overtly cheesy words were somehow still making her heart flutter. She felt like she was a maiden being earnestly wooed by her persistent and charming suitor, and it was an amazing feeling.
"I’ll be keeping this gift safe in your personal treasury for now, Your Majesty," Niran politely told her with a curt bow. "Please make your way to meet His Majesty."
"Thank you, Niran," Mineah whispered, still bearing that beautiful smile as she walked forward with long strides.
Walking past her friend, Mineah couldn’t help but feel excited with what her husband had in store for her next. He was excited to see Nikolai and tease him for all of this stuff.
And yet... she had to make another stop as Dani blocked her way.
"Your Majesty," Dani greeted her with a curt bow. Like the rest of her shadow maidens, she was elegantly dressed for the occasion. She looked lovely as well.
"Dani," Mineah greeted back.
The latter nodded with a bright smile. "Happy Birthday, Your Majesty. I thought His Majesty didn’t care about this special day, but tonight proved me wrong," she chuckled with a shrug. "Apparently, he took care of everything in silence. I still couldn’t understand why he didn’t get us involved, but nevertheless, let me present to you another gift from the King."
Mineah simply nodded at Dani’s words. She already understood by now why Nikolai kept his preparations unknown to her shadow maidens or anyone near her. Obviously, it was because she might accidentally read their thoughts and his surprise would end up being spoiled.
"Another gift?" she asked seeing Dani’s holding a small box.
"Indeed, your Majesty," Dani answered with a smile as she opened the box.
"That’s beautiful..."
Mineah gasped as she stared at the shining armring that was being shown to her. It was made of golden draconite stones, a mythical gemstone taken from the head of a live dragon in its dying breath. It was said to contain magical properties, and yet no one had really experienced or was able to explain what exactly its magical properties were.
"This draconite stone belonged to Vulcan, and one of its magical properties is granting its owner the power of invisibility," Dani explained, making Mineah’s eyes widen. "As per His Majesty’s words, please take it as a symbol of his undying and eternal love for you. That he’s willing to let go of everything and anything just to not lose you."
Mineah bit her inner cheek as she stared at Dani’s smiling face. She understood his message immediately; that he was willing to let go of his hatred and revenge for Vulcan even if the dragon would still remain inside her brother Ezekiel for good.
