The Chef Rules the Last Days -
Chapter 510 - 508: Grand Opening
Chapter 510: Chapter 508: Grand Opening
"But I can’t swallow this insult! This Su Mo is too arrogant!" Lin Yao said angrily, yet a hint of jealousy flickered in his eyes.
"It’s okay, their restaurant is about to open, right? I’ve already found someone," Fatty said soothingly, his lips curling into a strange smile.
The next day, the cake chef arrived on time to report for duty.
He stood in the kitchen, staring dumbfounded at the array of complete ingredients in front of him.
Fortunately, the chef, who had seen big events, quickly recovered and began to prepare, helping Su Mo with the side dishes.
Early that morning, everyone arrived.
Jianxiong and the others helped wipe down all the tables and chairs, and Rong Bai even brought over a sign and placed it at the entrance, writing a name for the shop with chalk.
Momo Restaurant...
Although Su Mo found it quite cheesy, she wasn’t opposed to it. She even went on to write down the operating hours, working 5 days a week, only open for half a day each day, capriciously.
The camp leaders, the Level 6 powerhouses, Jin Han and Feng Yao’s teams, an impressive group of people, immediately filled up the first floor of Su Mo’s small shop.
At first glance, including her own friends at one table, it turned out to be all familiar faces.
What to do if it feels like opening a store opened loneliness...
Su Mo was amused yet heart-warmed, and their presence also startled some passing superpower users.
Many chose to stop and watch.
Seeing the menu posted on the glass window, they clicked their tongues in succession, "Ten Level 2 Crystal Stones for a plate of fried meat, are they insane!"
Yes, the prices Su Mo set on the menu were very high, beyond what ordinary people could afford.
She had her reasons for doing so.
For instance, the first couple who intended to dine, just by looking at their faces, something seemed off.
As a waiter, Bai Shitong skillfully led them to the second floor.
"No, we will just sit on the first floor!"
The vision of these few people moved around the hall. Seeing those faces made them tremble a bit inside, but they had taken others’ Crystal Stones, and they had to do their job professionally.
Their stubbornness easily categorized them as troublemakers.
Although Bai Shitong was young, he handled it adeptly and immediately called his mother to move a table outside, loudly saying, "Only the entrance of the first floor is left, guests can choose to wait for someone to leave or can dine outside."
Lu Chen’s phoenix eyes swept across unnoticeably, his gaze filled with a strong warning.
However, these daring souls, despite their fear, ignored that warning for the sake of professional integrity. They stubbornly sat outside and got a menu.
Fortunately, this time the payment for the order was covered by the mutton shop owner, so they didn’t dare to order much. They just wanted to make a scene, say the food was terrible, and quickly leave.
Su Mo also got a rough idea of what was happening outside. She let the cake chef watch her cook, using iron pots for her own people and the kitchen’s built-in stove for the customers.
Delicious food captures hearts, looking for trouble? Not possible.
After receiving the menu from the table outside, Su Mo used the kitchen’s built-in stove to prepare a plate of fried boiled meat, a plate of stir-fried rabbit meat, and a small complimentary portion of greens. She had Bai Yuee serve them.
The three dishes and the glistening translucent rice were set on the table, and those picking fights were dumbstruck.
Not just them, but also the superpower users still observing were shocked at the sight of the green vegetables.
"They actually have greens! This stir-fry is almost like the restaurants before the apocalypse!"
"Who exactly is the owner of this restaurant!"
Immediately, many people gathered around the small tables from all sides.
The few who had planned to flip the table after just a few bites, nearly burst into tears the moment the meat hit their stomachs.
All thoughts of professional integrity were forgotten, and everyone pounced like hungry wolves.
Although some still hesitated to eat due to the expensive menu, those who were not short on cash, after tasting the genuinely delicious food, made Momo Restaurant packed to capacity merely an hour after opening.
The business of the mutton shop opposite was directly cut in half.
The shop owner, Fatty, had a face as dark as the bottom of a pot.
As the crowd increased, Su Mo began to get overwhelmed, but luckily the cake chef next to her was competent. After listening to him, Su Mo came to know that the cake chef was not only a baker but also a five-star chef.
When Su Mo let him use the stove to prepare two dishes, the taste turned out even better than hers.
But then again, she was after all a half-baked amateur who came halfway into the field.
Thinking this, Su Mo casually decided to change the head chef on the very first day of business.
"Like this, from now on, you’ll be paid monthly, you set your own Crystal Stones, and you can join Bai Shitong and the others for three meals a day. How does that sound?"
With a place to eat and live, and being their lifesaver, the cake chef was almost ready to kneel to Su Mo, and he was particularly enthusiastic in his cooking.
Lu Chen, fearing that Su Mo was overworking herself, specifically went into the kitchen to check on her, only to find her comfortably garnishing while sitting on a stool.
"Why have you come in?" Su Mo looked up at him, stood up, and pulled him aside.
"Tired?", the man asked, completely ignoring the sweat-drenched chef tossing the food, as he pinched the back of her neck.
With a giggle, Su Mo replied, "Not at all, I’ve decided to let the chef handle the usual dishes, and I’ll cook the ones I’ve selected. I’m pretty smart, aren’t I?"
"Hmm, lowering the risk, that’s good."
"Boss, there are guests looking for you upstairs," Bai Shitong called from the doorway.
"Coming," Su Mo replied, tiptoed to kiss Lu Chen on the cheek, "You go eat first, we’ll chat later."
"Alright."
Su Mo went upstairs, where it was packed, yet there was a table occupied by five Level 5 Superpower Users.
Su Mo recognized them; during the zombie crisis, she had offered them an olive branch with Jasmine Tea.
Clearly, they had come for that reason, as their eyes lit up upon seeing Su Mo.
"Miss Su."
Su Mo nodded her head, pulled up a chair to sit beside them, and said with a beaming smile, "How is it, tastes good, right?"
"Delicious indeed!" This wasn’t just talk—their rosy complexions and greasy mouths said it all.
"Well, the reason for our visit..."
"I know why you’ve come. Our restaurant offers a special tea set menu for VIP customers," Su Mo said, grinning mischievously.
The guests were thrilled.
"Of course, what are the conditions to become a VIP of your restaurant? If it’s about spending, we have plenty of Crystal Stones."
Shaking her head, Su Mo chuckled, "Just two conditions. 1: All products sold in our restaurant are confidential food items, whatever you eat here will be different from others. 2: The tea set menu is limited in supply, I hope you understand its value. For now, I prefer not to publicize it widely, you know, once the crowd gets too large, I won’t be able to keep up."
