The Chef Rules the Last Days -
Chapter 511 - 509: Smashing the Store
Chapter 511: Chapter 509: Smashing the Store
Su Mo’s implications were clear to everyone, yet no one was a fool; if it indeed became common knowledge in the future, securing even a single bottle would become increasingly difficult.
"No problem! Can we buy it now?!"
Those five Level 5 Superpower Users agreed to the terms with ease.
Su Mo stood up and said, "I will provide it once a week, each person limited to two bottles per purchase, priced at 20 Level 2 Crystal Stones. Bai Shitong will record your names and register them in the book."
The boy standing behind her quickly brought over a notebook to the table. Even though he was anxious in the presence of so many high-level superpower users, he handled the task efficiently.
Su Mo was very satisfied with his work, and the price she had set was practically akin to picking it up for free for them.
The high-level superpower users had braced themselves for a significant financial bleed over the long term but were pleasantly surprised by the generosity of the shop owner.
For a moment, everyone treated Su Mo with utmost courtesy and respect.
Before they left, Bai Shitong collected all the Crystal Stones, and Su Mo took out several bottles of Jasmine Tea right in front of them, along with an additional bottle of Biluochun Tea as a complimentary gift, whispering into their ears, "There will be new teas available at irregular intervals. Give this new one a try, it’s even more effective when used while injured, and by the way, I would like to ask a favor of you."
"Just say it."
After Su Mo spoke softly for a moment, they hesitated but eventually agreed.
With their consent obtained, Su Mo left with a smile.
"That Lin Yao is a Healing Superpower User. Do we want to offend her by running a mutton shop?"
"If we don’t offend her, what about the tea?"
"What’s in this new product?"
"When we go out, let’s cut a slice and give it a try."
"..."
Su Mo did not pay close attention to the whisperings that followed her. As she walked past some tables, she noticed guests who were intrigued by the tea and politely stopped her to ask, "How can we join the VIP customers? We’d like to join too, even if we don’t buy tea. I heard your price; it’s too expensive."
Su Mo replied kindly, "Dear guests, VIP entries are not available for now. I look forward to your next visit."
She turned and descended the stairs, followed closely by Bai Shitong who was holding a heap of Crystal Stones and a record book, whispering excitedly, "My lord, you have no idea, in just a few hours, we’ve made hundreds of Crystal Stones!"
Su Mo patted his head and winked at him, "Then you must calculate the account clearly for me, as I’ll be checking the books tonight."
"Mhm! I remember clearly, don’t worry, my lord!"
That year, Bai Shitong first tasted what it meant to be well-fed and to experience delicious food, and he also had a clean bed and a set of clothes to his name.
He loved this job immensely, as well as the kind-hearted and lovely looking lord in front of him.
"Sister-in-law, the food tastes just as good as ever!" Rong Bai gave Su Mo a flattering call in front of everyone.
As soon as she heard the call, Su Mo greeted him and walked towards the temporary tables set up outside.
Cha Mi was also brought over by Jin Han today and, staring at the table full of dishes and the menu that was astronomically priced for her, she was unable to utter a word.
This Su Mo was someone that even the ruler of the refugee camp addressed as sister-in-law.
Even the price of a plate of pork in the store was something she would have to earn by sleeping with someone tirelessly for a week.
Watching the bright-eyed Bai Shitong, with his face scarred yet his eyes gleaming, walk by with a bag full of Crystal Stones hanging at his waist, deeply pained her.
It seemed like she had truly lost an opportunity to change her destiny.
"I’m actually quite envious of that kid," Jin Han said to Feng Yao as he downed a glass of beer, "I heard it’s two meals a day, damn, I want to serve plates too."
Jianxiong’s eyes sparkled as he leaned toward Lu Chen, bumping his thigh against Lu Chen’s, "Boss, why don’t you have a word with the sister, and let me carry plates too? Being a bodyguard is also fine."
Lu Chen set down his wine glass expressionlessly and gave him a sidelong glance, "Do you usually lack for food?"
Jianxiong scratched his head, with a tingling scalp under Lu Chen’s stare, and sat back down, "Not really lacking, just a bit short."
Lu Chen: "Pay up, and you can come every day."
Jianxiong: ...
This must be the legendary clear accounting even among close brothers.
The inside was bustling with activity, and there were many onlookers outside as well. The food on the small square table was swept clean, not even leaving behind a drop of soup.
"Was the food to your liking?" Su Mo asked with a smile, standing aside.
The people sitting there, looking at the bare plates, really couldn’t bring themselves to say the food was bad, and they awkwardly replied, "It was... okay."
Su Mo nodded, then took out a notebook, wrote down a sentence, tore it out, and handed it to the one who looked like the leader, "Here’s a coupon for you. If you complete it, you can have a free meal here, don’t lose it."
After she left, the seated group looked at each other. It wasn’t until someone behind them urged for the next table that they left in a fluster.
They rushed to a corner, where they finally opened the note. It had just one sentence—she could offer double the payment of the mutton shop, they just needed to do one thing: give a taste of their own medicine, and there would be someone to help them.
As it turned out, Su Mo had already guessed it.
"What... what should we do?"
"Offending Lin Yao isn’t worth it."
"Look at the people in that restaurant. Compared to a Healing Superpower User, which is more important? If we really irritate Rong Bai, we are going to be in big trouble."
Compared to their belated realization of professional ethics, these people felt their courage had been a bit too great. They had almost flipped the table in front of the base’s power holders.
By the afternoon, the restaurant was still bustling with customers, but Su Mo promptly put up a ’Resting’ sign.
No more business for the day after seeing to the current customers.
"What exactly did you say out there just now?" Lu Chen patted the stool next to him, signaling her to sit down.
Su Mo smiled mysteriously, "You’ll know soon. If that broken mutton shop dared to cause trouble for me, of course I had to strike back."
Hiding their injuries, they had sneaked a taste of the Biluochun. In the corner behind the mutton shop, five people were simultaneously shocked.
"Damn, with such a heaven-defying thing, do we still need to give Lin Yao face? Offend him to death!"
"Let’s go, let’s go, let’s help Miss Su."
It didn’t take long for Su Mo. The mutton shop diagonally opposite soon erupted with the sound of smashing and crashing.
Standing at her shop’s entrance and looking over, the good mutton shop was a mess, with pieces of tables and chairs everywhere, and five furious superpower users were cursing inside.
Some turncoats nearby were also helping out, and the scene became chaotic at once. The soldiers responsible for maintaining order, as if deliberately, waited until everything was smashed up and the rotten mutton was thrown outside before stepping in to end it.
Lu Chen draped his arm around her waist, his eyes filled with a hint of amusement, "Your doing?"
Su Mo was also somewhat curious, "Actually, I just asked them to teach a small lesson and reminded them to take a trip to the kitchen."
"The kitchen?"
"Now that the weather has warmed up, how can mutton last that long? The last time we passed by that shop, it smelled fishy and foul. I suspected there might be spoiled meat, so I casually mentioned it. I didn’t expect it to be true," Su Mo said with a sly smile, her head tilted upward in a notably proud manner.
