Chapter 844: Chapter 844: She Suffers the Consequences of Her Own Actions

"Have you really thought this through?" Bo Jingyan asked, looking at his mother.

"Yes, I have," his mother replied firmly.

Seeing that she had made up her mind to leave A City, Bo Jingyan didn’t try to persuade her to stay. He simply said, "Alright, once you decide on the day, I’ll book the flight for you!"

If there had been any wavering or nostalgia in his mother’s heart before, it now disappeared completely upon seeing Bo Jingyan’s attitude towards her settling abroad and never returning.

It seemed her life was destined to be one of feeble familial ties.

"I won’t bother you all anymore, I’m leaving," his mother said and then turned to leave.

Having just experienced betrayal by someone she trusted, Bo Jingyan was worried about letting her go back alone, so he made eye contact with Jian Xuan and signaled him to secretly follow her and ensure her safety.

Jian Xuan nodded, and when he left, he also took with him the two doctors who had betrayed Shi Qian and were now collapsed on the ground.

Soon, the once noisy house was left with only Xia Qingtian and Bo Jingyan.

Xia Qingtian, unable to wait any longer, clung to Bo Jingyan and said, "Hey, what exactly are you planning? You clearly agreed to investigate the person behind Shi Qian in secret, yet now you’ve suddenly exposed her—it’s too impulsive."

"Didn’t I tell you?" Bo Jingyan said, "I don’t want to see you mistreated anymore. Since you’ve had enough of Shi Qian, let’s deal with her first. She won’t be able to trouble you anymore; are you happy now?"

Xia Qingtian couldn’t deny it; she was indeed quite happy.

Not only because they had dealt with the menace that was Shi Qian, but also because his mother, despite still disliking her, had stopped preventing her from being with Bo Jingyan. Finally, they no longer had to carry on a secretive, underground romance.

They could now openly hold hands, hug, and even kiss in the presence of others, under the sunlight.

"Happy," Xia Qingtian eventually nodded in admission.

Bo Jingyan pulled her to sit down on the couch, wrapping her in his arms and said, "There, isn’t that settled? I was thinking too much before, which made me hesitant and caused you so much unhappiness and suffering. This direct approach isn’t bad, right?"

Xia Qingtian knew he did all this for her. Even though she still had some doubts and concerns, it was too disheartening to keep discussing what should and shouldn’t have been done.

With that thought, she did not continue.

She snuggled into Bo Jingyan’s embrace and suddenly asked, "By the way, are you really going to let Shi Qian off?"

Bo Jingyan was always vengeful, and after all that Shi Qian did, it was unlike him to lightly agree to let her go because of a single plea from his mother.

She felt certain that Bo Jingyan had other plans.

Bo Jingyan pinched her cheek and seriously replied, "I did promise my mother to let Shi Qian go, after all. I can’t just break my word."

Xia Qingtian pushed his hand away, looking at him skeptically, "These words coming from you, how can I possibly believe them?"

Bo Jingyan couldn’t resist and pecked her on the lips.

"My wife, you know me so well!" His deep eyes flickered with a hint of slyness, "If my mother hadn’t interceded, letting Jian Xuan take Shi Qian away would have been a relief for her. There’s a fate in this world known as ’worse than death.’"

And since Shi Qian was still useful for finding the person behind the scenes, it was good to keep her around.

Upon hearing this, Xia Qingtian felt this was the real Bo Jingyan.

Leaning in his arms, she curiously asked him, "So, what are you planning to do with Shi Qian?"

"She doesn’t even qualify for me to act against her personally," Bo Jingyan said disdainfully, "As for her eventual fate, you’ll see it soon enough."

After that, no matter how much Xia Qingtian pressed, Bo Jingyan wouldn’t tell her, saying that if he told her everything, there’d be no surprise left. If she wanted to know the outcome for Shi Qian, she would have to see for herself.

Xia Qingtian had no choice but to give up on probing further.

Only two days passed before Xia Qingtian understood what Bo Jingyan had meant and learned of Shi Qian’s predicament.

Indeed, Bo Jingyan hadn’t personally acted against Shi Qian.

He just made a public statement that Shi Qian had now severed ties with the Bo Family.

His statement was undoubtedly a signal to others indicating that Shi Qian had broken with the Bo Family. Had it been just a normal detachment, there wouldn’t have been a need to announce it so publicly, embarrassing Shi Qian.

Upon his words, Bo Jingyan indeed did nothing. All the projects that were contemplating collaboration with Shi Qian abruptly changed their minds, those who had either signed or had prior cooperations sought various reasons to end their agreements with her.

Some went further, directly citing Shi Qian’s faults, using her breach of contract as a reason, not only to cease cooperation but also to demand penalty fees.

Shi Qian didn’t want to pay, but they had solid evidence she was the first to break the contract.

She was never particularly principled contractually, relying previously on the support of his mother and the Bo Family, conducting herself whimsically—cooperating when pleased and non-cooperative when not.

While all the project heads, fearing the backing of the Bo Family, didn’t dare confront her and had to fully cooperate.

Now, without any backing, her prior non-cooperation became proof of her breaches.

Due to these breaches, Shi Qian had to pay a significant amount of penalty fees. During this time, she took on many jobs, earned a lot of money, and barely managed to cover the fees. However, being characteristically unthrifty and assuming she would eventually marry into the Bo Family—where money wouldn’t be an issue—she hadn’t saved.

Having squandered all she made, she found herself unable to pay.

The collaborators didn’t indulge her, filing a lawsuit straight away.

Now, all her accounts were frozen, and her movable and immovable properties seized. Homeless and penniless, Shi Qian found herself destitute and wandering the streets.

Completely unable to adjust to her drastically altered life, she was on the brink of collapse.

With her influence gone and being softly blacklisted in the entertainment industry, having offended the Bo Family and facing bankruptcy—she lacked true friends despite her previous domineering presence within the industry. She couldn’t even find anyone willing to lend her some money to tide over the crisis.

Shi Qian no longer posed a threat to Bo Jingyan and Xia Qingtian.

But their secret surveillance on her continued, not out of a narrow desire to witness her plight, but because the person behind her support hadn’t yet been identified.

Without catching this individual, Xia Qingtian and Bo Jingyan could not truly rest easy.
