Chapter 843: No Longer Concerned with Her Well-being
Chapter 843: Chapter 843: No Longer Concerned with Her Well-being
Shi Qian shook her head with tears streaming down her face, "Mrs. Bo, I didn’t, I really didn’t!"
Mrs. Bo only felt an immense annoyance.
She looked at Shi Qian with scorn, "Fine, since you say you didn’t, I’ll believe you one more time. The laptop and USB drive are right here. As soon as I plug in the USB, I’ll know whether the doctor falsely accused you or not. But do you dare?"
Shi Qian’s pupils shrank as she stammered, unable to utter a word.
She didn’t dare!
Because the evidence was already incontrovertible, once Mrs. Bo saw the contents of the USB drive, Shi Qian could no longer make excuses.
Seeing her like this, Mrs. Bo completely gave up on her.
As Bo Jingyan saw that she had recognized Shi Qian’s true nature, he no longer wanted to look at Shi Qian, but instead instructed Jian Xuan, who had just brought the doctor over, "Take her away. Don’t let her be an eyesore here any longer."
Jian Xuan nodded and unfeelingly stepped forward to seize Shi Qian, preparing to take her away.
Shi Qian felt as if her heart would burst from fear.
She struggled desperately, but her strength was nothing compared to the several men, and no matter how much she struggled, she couldn’t break free. All she could do was sob and plead, "Brother Jingyan, Mrs. Bo, please don’t treat me like this. I know I was wrong, give me another chance."
Xia Qingtian had drunk alcohol the previous night, and even though she had been given sobering soup, her headache was still intensified by the noise, causing her to frown involuntarily.
Bo Jingyan noticed her slight expression and, knowing she had a headache, considerately pressed his cool fingertips to her temples, massaging them just right while ordering, "Gag her."
Jian Xuan promptly did as told.
Now Shi Qian couldn’t even beg for mercy, and her tears fell even more fiercely.
Just as she was about to be dragged away, a struggle appeared in Mrs. Bo’s eyes. After a moment, as if she had made a decision, she spoke to Bo Jingyan, "Let her go for now!"
Shi Qian’s eyes instantly lit up.
She was saved!
Bo Jingyan frowned and looked at Mrs. Bo, "Do you realize what you’re saying? After all the vile things she’s done, do you really want to continue to indulge her? If you keep her by your side, she’ll bring about your downfall sooner or later!"
A bitter smile flashed across Mrs. Bo’s cold face.
She knew the ambiguity of her words just now and said, "That’s not what I mean. I just want you to leave her a way out. No matter what, she and her mother saved my life twice. Let her go. From now on, we owe each other nothing, and we’ll have nothing to do with each other."
Bo Jingyan’s face was grim, and he said nothing, seemingly in thought.
After a while, as if he had thought of something, he said, "Fine, I agree to your request!"
With that, he waved at Jian Xuan to let go of Shi Qian.
Jian Xuan immediately complied, and Shi Qian regained her freedom.
She looked pitifully at Mrs. Bo, "Mrs. Bo..."
Mrs. Bo turned her face away, her voice cold, "Leave. I won’t hold this incident against you, but we are even now. From now on, I owe you nothing. Whether you do well or poorly is your own affair and has nothing to do with me."
Shi Qian stuttered, opening her mouth as if to say something, but upon encountering her indifferent expression, she closed it again.
After her actions were exposed, there was no way for her and Bo’s mother to return to the way they were before. Even if she stayed by Bo’s mother’s side, surely she would never regain her trust and affection, much less would Bo’s mother try to match her with Bo Jingyan anymore.
So staying by Bo’s mother’s side seemed to yield no benefits; she might as well go to Shen Junru and plan their next steps together.
Thinking this, Shi Qian abandoned the idea of continuing to please Bo’s mother.
"Fine, if we owe nothing to each other, so be it." She nodded and, after she said that, she turned and left without any hesitation.
Bo’s mother watched her receding figure, eyes filled with the pain of betrayal by someone she trusted and a hint of loss.
Once, she had truly treated Shi Qian as a younger member of the family, even regarded her as her own daughter, believing every word she said and complying with her every desire, striving to provide whatever she wanted.
She had also gone to great lengths to pave the way for her career, ensuring her smooth sailing in the entertainment industry.
Unexpectedly, her efforts were repaid with betrayal.
Thinking of these things, Bo’s mother felt a piercing irony. Her back even hunched slightly, as if she had aged decades in an instant.
She stood up from the sofa and looked towards Xia Qingtian, who was standing by Bo Jingyan’s side.
Bo Jingyan, remembering his mother’s disdain for Xia Qingtian and the various troubles she had caused in the past, subconsciously stepped forward to block her view of Xia Qingtian and said with conviction, "Qingtian is the woman I hold in the highest regard, the only wife I will have in this lifetime. I will never leave her again, and I won’t let her suffer any grievances."
Bo’s mother knew he had misunderstood her, thinking she wanted to separate them again.
Now, she just felt a sense of disillusionment with everything.
It had not been long since she returned to the country, yet she found the time unbearably long and herself exhausted.
Bo’s mother let out a sigh and said to Bo Jingyan, "You are overthinking it. I have no plans to separate the two of you again. I’ve come to realize that marriage and having children are your own affairs. Whomever you wish to choose, go ahead. You reap what you sow. Whether you have a good or bad future, it is your own choice."
After everything that had happened, she had a sudden epiphany. Since she had to leave Bo Jingyan behind as a child to recuperate abroad for unavoidable reasons,
She hadn’t interfered with his life for many years, nor had she fulfilled her duties and responsibilities as a mother.
Therefore, she had no right to meddle in Bo Jingyan’s life anymore.
Hearing her say this, Bo Jingyan and Xia Qingtian exchanged glances, surprise and joy evident in their eyes. They had thought that even though the issue with Shi Qian was resolved, it would take a lot of time and effort for Bo’s mother to accept their relationship.
They had not expected Bo’s mother to stop opposing their union.
"Don’t worry, I will have a good life with Qingtian!" Bo Jingyan’s tone was firm yet filled with longing.
"I will also treat Jingyan well and manage our home to be more fulfilling," Xia Qingtian said, her lips curling slightly, clearly in good spirits.
Bo’s mother was noncommittal about their words.
She spoke up, "I’ve been abroad for so many years, and after returning, I realized I couldn’t adapt to the pace of life here. So I will go back abroad to settle down in a few days. If nothing unexpected happens, I don’t think I’ll ever come back."
Now that Bo Jingyan had established his own family and wasn’t close to her,
The memories that A City held for her, whether of the past Bo’s father or the recent Shi Qian, were not good memories. It would be better for her to return abroad and live her life anew.
