Watching Bo Jingyan look displeased, Xia Qingtian didn’t rush to answer the phone.

She herself felt quite embarrassed. After all, they had planned their date together and now it seemed like she might have to cancel.

She flung her arms around Bo Jingyan’s neck, clinging to him like a koala.

"Don’t be upset..." she cooed softly. "We have the rest of our lives together. If we can’t go on a date today, there will be plenty of other opportunities."

Bo Jingyan was just a bit disappointed, not angry.

Deep down, he was very supportive of Xia Qingtian’s work.

Seeing her softly soothing him now, he found it somewhat addictive, so he deliberately kept a stern face, pretending to be angry.

Xia Qingtian wasn’t panicked seeing his stern face, because he was easily pacified.

"Really still mad?" she probed.

Bo Jingyan kept silent, letting his silence speak for his mood.

Xia Qingtian wasn’t rushed, she simply tiptoed and leaned in to kiss him softly, then she asked again, "How about now? Still angry?"

Being kissed by Xia Qingtian unexpectedly, he almost couldn’t keep a straight face. He had to resist grinning.

Luckily, he managed to hold it in.

"What do you think?" he responded, maintaining his stern face.

If it were up to Xia Qingtian, his sullen face and icy tone would mean he was still upset.

She stayed calm and carried on. If one kiss didn’t solve the problem, two might; and if two wouldn’t, she’d try three, four... it didn’t cost anything.

With this thought, she continued to kiss Bo Jingyan’s lips.

The ringing of Xia Qingtian’s phone was automatically ended after not being answered for a long time and then summoned again; the process was repeated several times.

And she had kissed Bo Jingyan many times.

At first, she had kept count, but then she stopped bothering.

Xia Qingtian kissed Bo Jingyan again and asked, "Are you okay now?"

"No," Bo Jingyan replied.

Xia Qingtian knew he wasn’t hard to soothe. With having kissed him so many times and him not giving in, there had to be something up.

After a moment of consideration, she understood what Bo Jingyan was up to.

He must be tricking her into kissing him. She almost burst into laughter at the thought but she maintained her composed demeanor, humoring him, "If you’re still angry, then I’ll keep pacifying."

Bo Jingyan remained silent, but the flash of anticipation on his face did not escape her.

A crafty grin flashed across Xia Qingtian’s eyes.

"Then you better ready to enjoy it," she warned with clenched teeth.

Bo Jingyan frowned, sensing something off about her tone. Just as he was about to investigate, she...

Her soft, fragrant lips pressed against his and he felt a sting.

Before he could react, the instigator had already taken a step back and looked at him with a mischievous grin, "How was it? Did you enjoy it?"

Poking at his still-aching lips, Bo Jingyan glared at the smug woman, "Are you a puppy?"

Xia Qingtian retorted, "That’s your lesson learnt. Remember not to trick me again!"

Seeing her reaction, Bo Jingyan knew his little scheme had been exposed.

There was not a hint of shame on his face, he was open about it, "Didn’t expect you to figure it out so soon."

Just as Xia Qingtian was about to give him a piece of her mind, her phone rang again.

The phone had been ringing in cycles just now. If she didn’t answer it soon, she presumed the crew would start to worry. Putting her confrontation with Bo Jingyan aside, she picked up the phone.

"I’ll take this call first. I’ll deal with you later," she said, moving aside to answer the call.

The call was from the assistant director.

Xia Qingtian had interacted with him a few times before; they were acquainted.

As soon as the call connected, the assistant director said, "Miss Xia, I do apologize for interrupting your work."

He had called many times with no answer from Xia Qingtian. He thought she was too busy, not knowing she was coaxing Bo Jingyan.

Having apologized, Xia Qingtian subconsciously reached for her lips. Remembering how she had kissed Bo Jingyan over and over again made her blush.

She didn’t have the heart to clarify that she wasn’t busy with work but avoided the matter vaguely, "Ah, no worries, I’m free now. What can I do for you?"

The assistant director, relieved to hear she wasn’t blaming him, took a breath.

Xia Qingtian’s entertainment company was soon going public, destined to become a mammoth. It was best not to offend it.

"This is the thing..." He got down to business, "I’m not sure how Bingbing’s injury is. If it’s severe, we should take her to the best hospital. If she’s feeling better, can she come back to shoot?"

Xia Qingtian didn’t have the answer.

She hadn’t been able to reach Cheng Bingbing lately; her phone was always switched off.

To know Bingbing’s status, she’d need to contact Huo Qilin.

But reaching Huo Qilin wasn’t a sure thing. Whether his phone was switched on or whether someone would answer needed luck. The assistant director’s question left her stuck.

Embarrassed, Xia Qingtian said, "Ah, I’ve been focused on going public and may have overlooked the artists. Let me look into it right away. I’ll inform you as soon as I have some information. Would that work?"

" Absolutely, that works." The assistant director nodded continuously.

Xia Qingtian was cooperative and he was naturally pleased.

The assistant director complimented Xia Qingtian for a few more moments, reminding her not to forget that Huo Qilin promised him the position of director when he fought with somebody on set.

"Rest assured, I remember that. We have been selecting suitable drama groups. Once we pick the script and settle the copyrights, and once you’re available, we can start the project immediately," Xia Qingtian agreed readily.

She had promised the assistant director the position of director to keep the incident with Huo Qilin under wraps.

The assistant director had kept his side of the bargain and the incident went unnoticed, quietly resolved.
