After Bingbing made her decision, she called Qilin, informing him about her injury and her current stay at the hospital.

Qilin genuinely cared for Bingbing. When he heard about her injury, he became anxious. Although it normally took him half an hour to get to the hospital from his home, he managed to reach there in only twenty minutes.

Once he got to the hospital, he rushed to find Bingbing.

Seeing Bingbing lying on the hospital bed, he asked with a pained expression, "How are you doing? Is your injury serious?"

Bingbing wanted to downplay her injury, saying it was minor and she would be fine after a couple of days of rest. But catching Qingtian’s disapproving gaze, she changed her story and honestly admitted, "The doctor said I have a sprained ligament. I mustn’t walk or move around much for a while."

"How did you end up so seriously injured? Does it hurt?" Qilin carefully attempted to touch Bingbing’s injured foot, but held back fearing he might hurt her more.

Bingbing could sense Qilin’s concern for her. Touched, she smiled sweetly and reassured him, "It’s okay, it doesn’t hurt as long as I don’t exert force."

Qilin gently embraced Bingbing, assuring her softly, "It’s okay. While you can’t walk, I’ll be your legs. Once you can walk, I’ll be your crutch."

She lifted her arm, hugging Qilin’s lean waist. Resting her chin on his shoulder she sympathetically asked, "How is your mother’s health now? If you come to take care of me, what about her?"

Qilin reassured her,"Don’t worry, she has my father and many servants and nurses to care for her. Whether I am there or not won’t make a huge difference. I only want to take care of you."

But Bingbing was different. Her parents, like vampires, tried to drain all the value from her. Other than her friend Qingtian, she only had her boyfriend by her side.

So, it was his responsibility and obligation to take care of Bingbing.

This was the first time Bingbing had been chosen with such determination, and it filled her heart to the brim.

Watching the lovebirds being so sweet together, Qingtian felt a pang of hurt. Deciding that out of sight is out of mind, she quietly left the ward, leaving the room for the couple.

Bingbing and Qilin embraced each other for a long time. Only when her waist began to ache did they separate and simultaneously noticed Qingtian was gone.

After calling Qingtian, they discovered she had already left the hospital.

Although Bingbing’s injury wasn’t serious, she couldn’t go home as the pipes in her house had burst a couple of days ago. The whole flooring was ruined and the house was uninhabitable.

She had initially planned on staying at a hotel booked by the filming crew, but ended up in the hospital due to her injury.

While the doctor had instructed her to not walk due to her sprained ligament, and Qilin had promised to take care of her, it was impossible for him to be glued to her twenty-four hours a day.

In the end, Bingbing decided to stay at the hospital. After all, there were many vacancies in the VIP wards, so it didn’t feel like she was abusing the medical resources. Furthermore, there were doctors and nurses to care for her, which was much better than staying at a hotel.

Bingbing stayed in the hospital room waiting for Qilin to return.

As she was waiting, sleep started taking over. Just as she was about to fall asleep, her phone, lying next to the pillow, suddenly rang. Half-asleep, she picked it up without checking the caller ID and answered.

"Hello..." She drawled lazily, "This is Bingbing."

A somewhat unfamiliar voice came from the other side, "It’s me!"

Still groggy, Bingbing found the voice vaguely familiar but couldn’t place who it belonged to. Confused, she asked, "Who are you..."

A soft laugh came from the other end and the man continued in amusement, "We met just a few days ago, and you’ve already forgotten me? How’s the task I asked you to do coming along?"

Bingbing was feeling sluggish, but when she realized who the voice belonged to, she instantly woke up.

By then, she knew that the man on the phone was the same one who had her kidnapped to his mansion and ordered her to break up with Qilin. He was also the biological father of the baby in her belly.

"I have no idea what you’re referring to." Bingbing didn’t want to argue with the man and immediately hung up the phone.

And to be safe, she turned off her phone. That way, the man wouldn’t be able to contact or threaten her to leave Qilin.

Even though the hospital room was air-conditioned, Bingbing broke out in sweat after doing all that.

She wasn’t sure if her pallor was due to the heat or cold sweat from fear.

Bingbing thought she could avoid the man after she hung up. But just as she was letting out a sigh of relief, a nurse abruptly pushed open the door to the ward and walked in.

Bingbing saw the nurse and assumed she had come to check on her. So she didn’t pay much attention until the nurse handed her a phone that was on call.

"Miss Cheng, someone wants to talk to you."
