Chapter 765: Chapter 765 This Man is Not Qualified _1

Bo Jingyan stepped out of his office, heading towards his office while coldly instructing Jiang Xuan, "Investigate the two doctors who treated my mother, and see if there is any connection between the old Chinese medicine doctor and Shi Qian."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Xuan’s expression immediately hardened.

He understood what Bo Jingyan was implying. If they really uncovered Shi Qian’s manipulation in his mother’s illness, then...

He was already mourning for Shi Qian!

...

After sending the photos to Bo Jingyan, Xia Qingtian did not pay any more attention to the matter.

This time, she and Bo Jingyan were acting openly, while Shi Qian was hiding in the shadows. With Bo Jingyan’s abilities, he would definitely be able to uncover the little moves that Shi Qian had made behind his back.

By then, there would be no need for her to lift a hand. Bo Jingyan and his mother would naturally take care of her. She did not need to waste any more time on Shi Qian, as it was simply not worth it.

Hence, Xia Qingtian was busy with her own affairs every day.

One day, while she was preparing for Huo Qilin’s upcoming concert, she received an unexpected call from the film crew. Cheng Bingbing had accidentally sprained her ankle while shooting.

Immediately, Xia Qingtian had to delegate the remaining work to others and rushed to the hospital at the fastest speed.

When she arrived at the ward, she saw Cheng Bingbing lying alone in the hospital bed. Her ankle was grotesquely swollen; it appeared to be rather severe.

She hurried to Cheng Bingbing’s bedside and asked with a worried expression, "Bingbing, how are you feeling? How did your ankle get so swollen, what did the doctor say?"

Seeing her concern, a warm feeling washed over Cheng Bingbing.

She managed a smile. Even though she was the one injured, her first reaction was to comfort Xia Qingtian’s emotions, "I’m fine, the ankle injury only looks serious, but it’s actually just a sprain. I’ll be fine after a couple of days’ rest."

Xia Qingtian was not going to believe her nonsense.

She was about to find the doctor to understand the situation better. Before she could step out of the ward, the doctor and nurse arrived for their rounds, providing an opportunity for her to ask about Cheng Bingbing’s condition.

The doctor told her that Cheng Bingbing was not merely sprained, but had injured her ligament. She could not strain her foot or walk during this period.

After listening to the doctor’s advice and watching him leave, Xia Qingtian turned to face a somewhat guilty-looking Cheng Bingbing. "Didn’t you say it wasn’t severe, just a simple sprain, and you’d be fine after resting for two days?"

Having been caught lying, Cheng Bingbing lowered her head in embarrassment, offering a soft explanation, "I just didn’t want you to worry, so I told you a little white lie."

Given that Cheng Bingbing was the patient, Xia Qingtian did not haggle with her, instead asking, "How did you get injured?"

"I don’t know why, but just a few steps into the scene, the heel of the shoe the crew had prepared for me broke. I wasn’t able to rebalance in time and I sprained my ankle," Cheng Bingbing explained to her.

This injury was entirely due to the crew’s negligence, and they should take full responsibility for it.

With the entertainment company’s scale getting larger and larger, and even on the verge of going public, many things did not need the boss, Xia Qingtian, to personally handle. She simply made a call, and the company would send people to negotiate with the crew.

She did not mean to make things difficult for the crew. However, it would make the industry think that the artists of their company are easy to bully if the crew’s carelessness causing injury to their artist is not taken care of properly— an impact detrimental to their artists’ development.

After dealing with this matter, Xia Qingtian finally asked about something else.

"Where’s Huo Qilin?" she asked Cheng Bingbing.

Huo Qilin and Cheng Bingbing had just confirmed their romantic relationship, and they should be in their honeymoon period. Now that she, as the agent and friend, was here, where was Huo Qilin, the boyfriend?

Cheng Bingbing pursed her lips and said, "I didn’t tell him."

"Why?" Xia Qingtian looked at her, somewhat bewildered, and asked. Isn’t it true that when one is sick or injured, they become particularly fragile and sensitive, necessitating the presence of their loved ones?

Why did Cheng Bingbing choose not to tell Huo Qilin?

"Huo’s mother is ill, and Qilin has to take care of her. I don’t want to make it tough for him," Cheng Bingbing explained gently.

Hearing this, Xia Qingtian couldn’t help but sigh at Huo Qilin’s luck. How much good must he have done in his previous life to have such a loving and considerate girlfriend in this one!

She admitted that Cheng Bingbing was truly considerate, but this might not necessarily be what Huo Qilin wanted. Despite this, she felt that she should inform Huo Qilin, the boyfriend, out of respect for him.

However, because of her upbringing, Cheng Bingbing has developed a personality of self-sacrifice, which she can’t change overnight even with long lectures. Xia Qingtian could only try to persuade her gradually by reasoning indirectly, hoping Cheng Bingbing would learn to love herself a bit more.

Thinking as such, Xia Qingtian guided the conversation, "If the tables were turned, and Qilin was the one injured while you were busy shooting, would you want him to keep it a secret from you to avoid inconveniencing you or making you tired?"

"Of course not!" Cheng Bingbing answered without hesitation, "I would want to be by his side when he’s injured or upset, to help him through the difficult times."

Xia Qingtian spread out her hands and said, "There you have it, right? You wish to help Qilin through difficult times, don’t you think he would wish the same?"

Cheng Bingbing was left speechless.

Xia Qingtian didn’t press on, leaving Cheng Bingbing to ponder over it herself.

Before Cheng Bingbing could arrive at a conclusion, the ward welcomed another visitor. This time it was someone from the crew, not the director, but the assistant director who came to show concern for Cheng Bingbing’s behalf.

The assistant director didn’t come empty-handed; he brought with him a bouquet of flowers and a fruit basket.

Since Xia Qingtian had already instructed the company to negotiate with the crew, she did not give the assistant director a hard time. Instead, she cordially exchanged pleasantries with him. The assistant director conveyed the crew’s wishes for Cheng Bingbing to rest well and return to the set once her foot had recovered.

Xia Qingtian politely saw the visitor off.

Once the guest had departed, she brought out a vase and meticulously arranged the flowers.

As she was absorbed in the task of arranging the flowers, Cheng Bingbing, who was sitting on the hospital bed, seemed to make a decision and suddenly said, "Qingtian, I think you’re right, I shouldn’t’ keep this from Qilin."

Xia Qingtian paused, a hint of speechlessness in her gaze as she turned to look at Cheng Bingbing.

She had been advising her for quite a while. Yet Cheng Bingbing seemed to only just understand, despite how easy it was to see. However, considering that she had finally understood, it wasn’t too bad either.
