Xia Qingtian asked Bo Jingyan somewhat haughtily, "What? Can’t I call you when there’s nothing wrong?"

"Of course not." Bo Jingyan responded with indulgence, "I enjoy your calls, particularly when you’re fine. It shows you’re thinking of me. My wife misses me, that’s great. So do you miss me?"

"Don’t flatter yourself. I didn’t call because I miss you, but because I have something important to talk about." Xia Qingtian said, chuckling at his humor. She recalled his earlier conversation on the phone, "Were you in a meeting then?"

"Yes," Bo Jingyan didn’t deny it.

Xia Qingtian couldn’t help herself, "Really, you could have waited until after the meeting to call me back!"

"I can’t bear to make you wait. You are more important to me than anything else." Bo Jingyan said seriously, "If I have to choose between work and you, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose you."

"You smooth talker!" Xia Qingtian scolded him, but her voice carried a sweetness as if it was soaked in honey.

No matter whether Bo Jingyan meant it or not, she was indeed amused. However, she still remembered the purpose of her call. She said to Bo Jingyan on the other end of the phone, "By the way, I saw Shi Qian today."

"What happened to Shi Qian?" Bo Jingyan asked directly. "Did she do something again?"

Xia Qingtian and Shi Qian were both in A City and it was normal for them to meet given their line of work in the entertainment industry. If nothing had happened, Xia Qingtian, given her character, would not have called him specifically to tell him this.

Seeing his sharp question, a smirk crept onto Xia Qingtian’s face. She had to admit, communication was much easier with a smart person. He could read between the lines without her having to explain much.

"I saw Shi Qian, not just her, but the two doctors who treated your mother as well. They went into a tea house together," she brought up the hot gossip.

"What?" Bo Jingyan was somewhat shocked.

He knew that Shi Qian was out of the hospital, she had sent him a message informing him that she was meeting an old classmate who had come to A City to see her. So, she would be unable to take care of his mother for the day.

But now, Xia Qingtian was telling him that Shi Qian was not meeting any old classmate, but the two doctors treating his mother. This situation seemed highly suspicious.

Even if Shi Qian wanted to inquire about his mother’s condition, she could have done so openly in the hospital. There was no need to call the two doctors out, or lie to him about meeting an old classmate.

Xia Qingtian repeated what she just said, "They stayed in the tea house for a long time and later on, an old man who looked quite elderly joined them."

On hearing about the old man, a thought flashed through Bo Jingyan’s mind.

His tone became stern as he questioned Xia Qingtian, "What did that old man look like?"

Xia Qingtian had focused all her attention on the two doctors, but the way he asked made her realize that the old man she saw probably held significance too.

"I have taken a picture," she immediately said.

"Then send me the photo." Bo Jingyan’s tone was somewhat solemn.

"Okay," Xia Qingtian immediately exited the call screen, went back to the home screen, opened their WeChat conversation, and sent him the photo.

After receiving the photo, Bo Jingyan opened it and looked at it.

Indeed, he saw Shi Qian and the two doctors who had been treating his mother, emerging from the tea house. He also got a clear view of the old man’s face, it was the traditional doctor he had painstakingly brought from out of the city.

Seeing the traditional doctor, he was not surprised at all.

As soon as Xia Qingtian told him that Shi Qian had met the two doctors treating his mother and an old man, he had already suspected that the old man was probably the traditional doctor.

Now that he saw the photo, it just confirmed his suspicion.

"Did you see the photo? How is it?" Xia Qingtian asked anxiously after a long silence on his end, "Did you notice anything wrong?"

Bo Jingyan snapped back to reality, "Mmm, I think I understand what might be happening."

"Quickly tell me about it." Xia Qingtian urged impatiently.

Bo Jingyan didn’t elaborate, he simply said, "The old man you saw, is the traditional doctor I spent a lot of time and effort to bring from out of town."

"My God..." Xia Qingtian exclaimed, her hand covering her mouth in shock.

Going by the unspoken understanding between her and Bo Jingyan, she immediately realized, "So there is something suspicious about your mother’s illness, isn’t there?"

Her words seemed like a question, but her tone was assertive, indicating she had already presumed something.

After all, considering Bo Jingyan’s connections, if he was willing to spend so much time searching for the traditional doctor, it meant that the doctor must have notable skills. The doctor had diagnosed his mother earlier and had even claimed that she was perfectly healthy and there was nothing wrong with her.

But suddenly changing his diagnosis was indeed suspicious.

If he could make a mistake in diagnosis, then Bo Jingyan’s effort and time spent in asking him for help seem like a joke.

However, because of the hospital’s equipment and the doctors who had successfully operated on his mother before, all confirming the recurrence of his mother’s cancer, his doubts had been temporarily quashed.

But with Shi Qian’s conspicuous moves, it was hard not to cast doubt.

"Let’s keep this quiet for now, I will have someone investigate it thoroughly." After saying this, Bo Jingyan seemed to recall something and checked with Xia Qingtian, "By the way, Shi Qian doesn’t know that you saw her, right?"

Xia Qingtian remembered that when she called Bo Jingyan, he was indeed in a meeting.

She quickly said to Bo Jingyan, "Alright, I’ve said what I needed to. I won’t bother you now. Remember to let me know once you find out anything about Shi Qian."
