Chapter 633: Chapter 633 Begging her for mercy_1
The moment Xia Qingtian made a sound, she realized how dire the situation had become.
The Zhu Family must have heard it.
As expected, when she lifted her head, she saw all members of the Zhu Family staring straight at her side.
A sense of tension arose in Xia Qingtian’s heart, and her first instinct was to escape the scene.
However, thinking of the signing ceremony held on the first floor of the mall, she felt her feet cemented to the ground, immobilized. Regaining some sanity, she decided to change her course of action.
No matter what, she needed to stall the Zhu Family first to prevent them from stirring up trouble.
With this in mind, Xia Qingtian scrutinized the Zhu Family, showing no intention of leaving.
"Mrs. Zhu..." She was about to confront Mrs. Zhu, wishing to stall for some time until the signing ceremony was over, no matter what.
However, she was interrupted before she could finish her sentence.
"We’re in such a state now, why can’t you let us go? What do you really want?" Mrs. Zhu howled with rage and discontent.
This angry howl left Xia Qingtian bewildered.
What did she mean by not letting them go?
If possible, she would prefer not to cross paths with any member of the Zhu Family.
Was Mrs. Zhu trying to accuse her of something she didn’t do?
Xia Qingtian was speechless and her mind filled with utter confusion.
A middle-aged man comforted the emotional Mrs. Zhu, then turned to Xia Qingtian humbly, "Miss Xia, we realize our mistake. Please forgive us, don’t punish us anymore; we won’t trouble you again."
"We already bought tickets to go back to our hometown in the countryside tonight. Now we just want a place to peacefully wait until evening."
Upon hearing this, Xia Qingtian was taken aback.
She glanced at the other members of the Zhu Family, including Mrs. Zhu.
Upon her gaze, they all flinched and started to avoid her eyes, completely afraid to meet her gaze straight.
It seemed that these people were truly afraid of her, not pretending to lower her guard. If this was all an act, she would say that the entertainment industry had suffered a loss due to their absence.
Since the Zhu Family wasn’t pretending, but was genuinely scared of her, she wondered why?
She hadn’t done anything; the Zhu Family had no reason to fear her.
"Why are you all suddenly admitting your mistakes?" Xia Qingtian felt the need to ascertain the reason behind the Zhu Family’s sudden shift in attitude; she disliked uncertainties.
Even if the problem with the Zhu Family was solved, she needed to know how it was solved.
Upon hearing her question, the faces of the Zhu Family members changed. They seemed to have thought of something and suddenly their bodies started to shiver uncontrollably.
Mrs. Zhu was even so startled that she couldn’t hold her cane steadily. Her legs gave away and she fell. Upon seeing this, the Zhu Family members immediately rushed to help.
Thankfully, the elderly woman had just fallen because her legs went weak with fear; it wasn’t due to a health issue.
"Miss Xia, I beg you, please leave. We really can’t afford to provoke you. Although we did trouble you before, we didn’t cause any real harm. Please let us go," a member of the Zhu Family pleaded.
"Do you really want to wipe us out and push us to death, only then will you be satisfied?"
"Miss Xia, please spare us!"
Xia Qingtian felt a headache coming from the constant pleas for mercy.
Seeing the Zhu Family’s emotional turmoil, she knew she wouldn’t get any answers even if she continued to question them. She decided not to make things difficult for herself or them.
"Alright, I won’t ask," she said, nodding, "As long as you don’t trouble me in the future, we’ll stay in our own lanes and I won’t trouble you either."
Upon hearing this, expressions of relief, as if surviving a calamity, immediately emerged on the faces of the Zhu Family.
Xia Qingtian noticed the change in their expressions.
Seeing their expressions ruled out the hypothesis that they all were good actors. They were genuinely scared, did not dare to provoke her, and were afraid she wouldn’t let them off.
Even though the issue with the Zhu Family was resolved, rather than feeling relieved, Xia Qingtian felt more puzzled.
With these confusions lingering in mind, she left the rooftop.
Upon leaving the rooftop, to be on the safe side, she instructed her security personnel to keep an eye on the Zhu Family and alert her immediately if anything unusual happened.
The signing ceremony was completed smoothly without any appearance of the Zhu Family members.
They obediently stayed on the rooftop of the mall until nightfall. Once it was time, they left the rooftop, headed straight to the railway station, and peacefully left A City.
During all this time, they did not cause any trouble.
Furthermore, according to the security personnel following them, the Zhu Family seemed very anxious to leave, as if they were being watched by something terrifying.
Xia Qingtian was extremely curious.
She wondered what had happened to the Zhu Family that made them take such a drastic turn.
Just as she intended to call her private investigator to inquire further about the Zhu Family’s recent experiences, her phone rang before she could make the call.
Coincidentally, the call was from the private investigator.
Since the private investigator was proactively calling, he must have gotten the results of the last investigation regarding what Zhu Wei had said to the Zhu Family that led them to harass her.
Indeed, after she answered the call, the private investigator said, "Miss Xia, I’ve found out what you asked me to investigate!"
Now that the Zhu Family had left A City and no longer dared to provoke her, the results of this investigation didn’t matter much to her anymore.
Nonetheless, she said, "Go on!"
Immediately, the private investigator began to report, "Zhu Wei said that the clan of Elizabeth managed to snatch back their inheritance because of the support of the Bo Family. Since he hardly had any grudges with the Bo Family, the only intersection was your interference in his life as Bo Jingyan’s ex-wife. Therefore, he believed that his current situation was your doing."
"Zhu Wei intended to have his family beg for mercy on his behalf so that you would put in a good word for him with Bo Jingyan. But his family misunderstood his intentions and kept causing you trouble."
Upon hearing these words, Xia Qingtian froze.
The Bo Family?
Was this indirectly telling her that Zhu Wei’s downfall was because Bo Jingyan was working behind the scenes to help her?
After all, the only remaining members of the Bo Family now were Bo Jingyan and his mother.
The mother was so resentful towards her that if she found out Xia Qingtian was troubled, she would most likely not only refuse to help but might even add to her troubles.
The private investigator finished reporting his findings and seeing her silence, he tentatively asked, "Miss Xia, are you still listening?"
