Huo Qilin’s thoughts turned to Cheng Bingbing, softening the smile on his face even more.

During this time, his time spent with Cheng Bingbing had been relatively pleasant.

Initially, he had agreed to take care of Cheng Bingbing simply because he didn’t want Xia Qingtian to worry. He was prepared to be mentally and physically worn out from resolving her issues.

He hadn’t expected that Cheng Bingbing would be surprisingly easy to look after. She was never unreasonably demanding and was always considerate of others’ thoughts and feelings.

Despite her alluring and assertive appearance, being with her felt comfortable and relaxing.

There were even times when he questioned whether his visits to see Cheng Bingbing were because of his promise to Xia Qingtian or because he genuinely wanted to chat with her.

Overwhelmed with feelings, Huo Qilin couldn’t help but express, "Bingbing is indeed a great person."

Seeing this, Xia Qingtian believed that if Cheng Bingbing’s feelings for him remained unwavering, there is a possibility that something could develop between them.

"You don’t need to be so nervous, I have complete faith in your abilities. As long as the album is of high quality, it will definitely sell," she immediately encouraged him, fearing that Huo Qilin would get nervous.

"Yeah," Huo Qilin nodded.

In fact, he had never been worried about the sales of this album before. He knew his capabilities well, so he wasn’t fearful at all.

It had just been an excuse.

Huo Qilin finished the coffee in his cup before revealing the real reason he had come to see Xia Qingtian, "It’s getting late, let’s go out for dinner."

Her phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, she found out it was Bo Jingyan.

Xia Qingtian raised an eyebrow as she picked up her phone and said to Huo Qilin, "Wait for me a moment. I need to take this call."

Immediately after saying these words, she moved to the window with her phone and answered it without waiting for Huo Qilin’s response. "Why the sudden call? Is there something you need?" she asked.

"Have you eaten yet?" Bo Jingyan asked her.

"Not yet," replied Xia Qingtian, finding his question a bit odd.

She was merely managing a small entertainment company and was too busy to even eat, while Bo Jingyan was managing the huge Bo Group and still had the spare time to worry about whether she had eaten or not.

"That’s good. I haven’t eaten either..." Bo Jingyan suddenly said.

Xia Qingtian had a vague feeling of what was coming next.

Just as she was about to say something, a knock at the door sounded. Simultaneously, a knock echoed from her phone as well. The implication was crystal clear.

She quickly turned to look at her office door and said, "Come in."

The office door opened to reveal the man she had been with just earlier that morning. He was standing at the door holding a food container and promptly hung up the phone in front of her.

"Let’s eat together," Bo Jingyan lifted the food container in his hand, suggesting to Xia Qingtian.

Honestly, Xia Qingtian hadn’t expected to see him at noon. She thought she wouldn’t see him again until after work at the very earliest.

Seeing Bo Jingyan now, her heart filled with sweet surprise.

"Why are you here all of a sudden?" she asked in astonishment.

Seeing her delighted reaction, a faint smile appeared in Bo Jingyan’s deep-set eyes. "I was afraid that you were so preoccupied with work that you would forget to eat. I had to personally come and oversee it to be assured," he explained.

Xia Qingtian, who had originally planned to grab a quick bite, felt a flash of guilt.

However, she quickly noticed Huo Qilin still in the office. She pointed at him defensively, "Who told you that? I was planning on going out to eat with Qilin."

She sounded very assertive after saying that.

She hadn’t lied. If Bo Jingyan hadn’t called, she would have agreed to go with Huo Qilin already.

Only then did Bo Jingyan notice the other person in the office.

Seeing Huo Qilin, a trace of guardedness and hostility appeared in Bo Jingyan’s deep-set eyes. He declared dominantly, "Today for lunch, you may need to eat by yourself, Qingtian will be eating with me."

Huo Qilin’s eyes dimmed, not responding to him.

His roguish eyes rested on Xia Qingtian, waiting for her decision.

Naturally, Xia Qingtian couldn’t let Bo Jingyan’s trip be in vain, so she apologized to Huo Qilin, "Qilin, I can’t accompany you for lunch today. If you don’t mind, you could ask Bingbing, or you could stay here and eat with us."

Seeing that she had already made a decision, Huo Qilin’s face fell slightly.

"No need," he declined. "I can handle lunch myself. I’ll leave you to it."

He just didn’t possess the extent of maturity to watch the woman he liked showing off her affection for another man without so much as a wince; and so, his only option was to flee.

All of Xia Qingtian’s attention was on Bo Jingyan, and she hadn’t noticed Huo Qilin’s abnormal expression.

Seeing him refuse, she made no further attempts to persuade him. Instead she said, "I’ll owe you lunch then. Once I finish my work in the next few days, I’ll treat you to a big meal."

"Okay," Huo Qilin managed a strained smile, then agreed.

He found it hard to refuse an opportunity to dine with Xia Qingtian.

Bo Jingyan noticed Huo Qilin’s change in expression, then saw Xia Qingtian, who was oblivious to it. The previously irked look on his face had eased up.

It seemed that the situation between Xia Qingtian and Huo Qilin was a classic case of unrequited love.

Xia Qingtian was totally unaware of Huo Qilin’s feelings for her.

So, Huo Qilin had been suffering from unrequited love this whole time.

Upon realizing this, he no longer had a reason to be annoyed, nor did he have a reason to alert Xia Qingtian about Huo Qilin’s feelings for her. He would just let Huo Qilin continue his suffering in silence.

Having figured this out, Bo Jingyan completely ignored Huo Qilin, and said, "Come and eat."

Xia Qingtian obediently walked over to him, intending to eat with him.
