Chapter 512: Chapter 512: You are the Most Important_1
The meal that Bo Jingyan had brought from takeout was made by the chef of A City’s most famous restaurant, and its color, aroma and taste were unparalleled.
Xia Qingtian hadn’t felt hungry initially, but the delicious aroma made her stomach rumble with hunger.
She couldn’t help but salivate at the sight of the food.
Seeing her lack of decorum, Bo Jingyan handed her chopsticks, saying, "Go ahead and eat."
Xia Qingtian felt genuinely hungry and started devouring the food without a thought for maintaining any trace of elegance.
"Eat slower, be careful not to choke." Bo Jingyan reminded her, somewhat helplessly.
Xia Qingtian hastily nodded, mumbling, "Mmm, noted."
However, her eating pace hadn’t slowed down at all.
Bo Jingyan was out of options, so he got her a cup of warm water and placed it by her side, where it would be conveniently accessible in case she drank the soup dry or choked on the food.
"You should eat as well." In a lull of her eating, Xia Qingtian noticed that Bo Jingyan had barely touched his chopsticks, so she used hers to pick up a piece of rib and placed it in his bowl.
Seeing her considerate gesture, Bo Jingyan’s smile grew warmer and more affectionate.
He was about to start eating when...
His cell phone suddenly rang.
It was a work call. After Bo Jingyan picked it up, he began scheduling work tasks.
Having finally finished a call, and stuffing the rib into his mouth, he was barely able to swallow it before his phone rang once again.
The dishes were nearly cold by the time he finished his call.
Seeing that Xia Qingtian had lost her appetite due to his continual stream of calls, Bo Jingyan shut off his phone outright, telling her, "Alright, let’s eat properly. We won’t be disturbed by anyone anymore."
"Are you very busy?" Xia Qingtian couldn’t resist asking, chopsticks still in her hand.
It was a question she already knew the answer to.
Indeed, Bo Jingyan’s endless stream of phone calls had explained everything.
Bo Jingyan didn’t deny it and admitted, "I’ve been quite busy."
Xia Qingtian frowned slightly, unable to hide her confusion as she asked, "If you are that busy, why did you go out of your way to come here, and waste your time?"
"Coming to see you and having lunch together isn’t a waste of time," Bo Jingyan corrected her.
Xia Qingtian couldn’t help but find this absurd. Was he arguing about the worthiness of having lunch with her?
She advised him, "Next time if you’re so busy, don’t come over to have lunch with me. I’m not a small child anymore. If I’m hungry, I can eat by myself."
"But..." Bo Jingyan countered, "I think you’re more important than work."
While this sounded like an ordinary sweet-talking pleasantry, the solemn look on Bo Jingyan’s face and the consideration in his tone made them sound particularly heartfelt and pleasing.
A tender sweetness crept into Xia Qingtian’s heart.
She picked up her chopsticks once again, scooped up more food and placed it in Bo Jingyan’s bowl, advising him, "You always have so much work to do, eat more."
"Are you looking out for me?" Bo Jingyan’s deep eyes twinkled with a touch of banter.
"Mhm," Xia Qingtian admitted without hesitation.
Her candidness took Bo Jingyan by surprise.
After a brief pause, he finally recovered and looked at Xia Qingtian intently, saying, "Xia Qingtian, to hear you say that makes me truly happy."
Xia Qingtian couldn’t help but let out a small smile, "I’m happy too."
She was happy because the old Bo Jingyan seemed to have returned.
The two of them joyfully finished their lunch in the office.
After lunch, they returned to their respective workstations and resumed their busy routines.
As work was about to end in the evening, Xia Qingtian had finally finished attending to the more urgent tasks. The remaining tasks, which could be postponed, weren’t addressed.
She remembered the gifts she brought from B Country which she hadn’t distributed yet.
So, while her colleagues were still in the office, she quickly handed the gifts over to her assistant for distribution.
She personally delivered the gifts for some important people.
Soon, Xia Qingtian was nearly done with the gift distribution, with only two left.
One was for Cheng Bingbing, and the other for Huo Qilin.
These two held special places in her heart, so the gifts were carefully selected and saved for the last moment.
First, Xia Qingtian went to Cheng Bingbing’s lounge.
But to her surprise, there was no one inside.
Assuming Cheng Bingbing had left for home early as she was free, Xia Qingtian stepped out of the lounge only to run into Cheng Bingbing’s assistant who informed her that she was currently in Huo Qilin’s lounge.
She also learned that the two had been spending a lot of time together recently.
Xia Qingtian didn’t find this surprising in the least.
Nodding her understanding, she headed towards Huo Qilin’s lounge.
Having them both in one lounge was convenient as she could deliver their gifts together.
In no time, she arrived at Huo Qilin’s lounge.
She didn’t just walk in, instead, she knocked on the door and waited for Huo Qilin’s tired voice to invite her in, saying, "Come in."
Something about his voice felt off to Xia Qingtian.
She opened the door and walked in, only to find Huo Qilin sprawled languidly on the sofa, the antithesis of the spirited individual who’d asked her to lunch. She was struck with worry.
Looking at Huo Qilin, she asked, "What happened? Are you not feeling well?"
Having known him for so long, this was the first time she saw him in such a down-and-out state. It was completely uncharacteristic of him.
"I, I’m okay." Seeing Xia Qingtian, Huo Qilin immediately perked up, discarding his listless demeanor from moments ago.
"Are you really okay?" Xia Qingtian was still concerned.
"I’m really okay." Huo Qilin was now full of energy. His bright eyes sparkled as he looked at Xia Qingtian, "Have you finished your work?"
"Not yet." Xia Qingtian casually found a seat and replied honestly, "But I’ve finished handling the more urgent tasks, the rest can wait."
Huo Qilin looked at her expectantly, "Then your visit is..."
Xia Qingtian responded, "Didn’t I tell you when we met at the company’s doorway in the morning? I brought gifts for everyone from B Country."
While speaking, she raised the gift she was holding.
"I’ve brought it over now," she added, casually tossing the gift she held in her hand to Huo Qilin.
The sudden toss startled Huo Qilin and he hurriedly caught the gift with an alertness as if he had faced a great enemy.
He carefully held the gift and chastised her, a hint of blame evident in his tone, "Why aren’t you careful? What if the gift got damaged?"
