Chapter 483: Chapter 483: Thunderbolt on a Sunny Day_1

Xia Qingtian took out her phone and glanced at the caller ID, discovering that it was unexpectedly Bo Jingyan.

Truth be told, she had been so busy lately either dealing with Cheng Bingbing’s issues or promoting Huo Qilin’s new album, that she hadn’t seen Bo Jingyan for quite some time.

Now, she received his phone call in the night of a foreign city, especially after drinking.

Xia Qingtian suddenly felt a longing for Bo Jingyan, which occupied her heart like a torch lighting up a prairie.

"Bo Jingyan..." she said softly, mimicking his tone and speaking somewhat unclearly, "You called me. Are you missing me?"

The other side fell silent after she asked this question.

Not hearing any sound from the other end, Xia Qingtian thought her phone was broken.

"Huh..." she mumbled, "Why is there no sound?"

Huo Qilin sensed the abnormality in her voice and asked anxiously, "Xia Qingtian, what’s wrong with you? Have you been drinking?"

As Xia Qingtian was about to answer, she stumbled over her feet and almost fell.

Fortunately, Huo Qilin managed to steady her in time and advised her, "Be careful."

Xia Qingtian wanted to prevent him from speaking, but it was too late. She assumed that Bo Jingyan on the other end of the phone had already heard what happened.

Thinking about how Bo Jingyan had said before that he was jealous of Huo Qilin, she feared he must be angry now.

Xia Qingtian started considering how she would explain the situation to him.

However, Bo Jingyan did not press further; instead, he said, "Since you’ve been drinking, you should rest well tonight. If there’s anything, we’ll talk tomorrow night."

After saying this, he was ready to hang up.

"Wait a minute..." Xia Qingtian stopped him, "Something is off with you."

Ever since he lost his memory, he had been prone to jealousy. Now that he knew she was drinking and spending time with Huo Qilin, he just cautioned her to rest well.

Even though she was drunk, she sensed something was off about him.

Something hadn’t happened to Bo Jingyan, had it?

When this thought struck her, Yongqing sobered up half of the alcohol, clutched her phone nervously, and asked, "Bo Jingyan, what happened? Is something wrong?"

"No." Bo Jingyan denied.

Xia Qingtian was not convinced and anxiously said, "You must be hiding something from me. Just wait, I’m coming back to see you right now..."

As she spoke, she began stumbling forward, almost running into the oncoming traffic.

"Qingtian, calm down. Do you realize that if I hadn’t pulled you back just now, you would have run onto the road and been hit by a car?" Huo Qilin was so scared that he pulled her back and shouted.

Even though half of her drunkenness had worn off, Xia Qingtian was still light-headed and did not take Huo Qilin’s words seriously.

Bo Jingyan on the other end of the phone clearly heard Huo Qilin’s tense voice and the sound of cars honking nearby, suggesting that the situation was rather critical.

He suddenly felt as if his heart was being tightly gripped by an invisible hand.

His body felt suffocated due to the shortage of blood supply.

"Xia Qingtian..." Bo Jingyan called out her name over the phone. Fearing she might not hear it, he raised his voice, "Whatever you want to know, I can tell you."

Xia Qingtian finally calmed down a bit after hearing this.

"Okay then, tell me. Did something happen?" She held up the phone to her ear and pressed for answers. "Don’t tell me that there is nothing and you just missed me, hence the call. I won’t believe you, because your behaviour tonight is too strange. You must give me a reasonable explanation."

Fearing Bo Jingyan would not tell the truth and would dismiss her with mere excuses, she also added threateningly, "Otherwise, I will come back immediately."

"After I tell you, you need to remain calm." Bo Jingyan said with a low voice, holding a calming tone.

Hearing his rambling speech and an underlying caution in his tone which even he himself might not recognize, Xia Qingtian, for some reason, felt a gloomy foreboding in her heart.

However, she didn’t stop Bo Jingyan but continued to press, "Go ahead."

Bo Jingyan took a deep breath before saying solemnly, "The people I sent overseas to look for your father have sent back some news."

Upon hearing this, Xia Qingtian froze on the spot.

Originally, half of her drunkenness had worn off after the phone call from Bo Jingyan. Now, the other half sobered up completely upon hearing this news.

Even though the weather was still very hot, she felt a bone-chilling coldness when a gust of wind blew by. Her throat tightened, and after a while, she finally found her voice.

"Is it good news or bad news?" she asked with a grave tone.

She asked this question, but she already had an answer in her heart. If it were good news, Bo Jingyan wouldn’t have appeared so troubled earlier.

So, it was bad news?

What happened to her dad??

"It’s neither good nor bad news." Bo Jingyan explained, "It’s late now, you should go to bed early. We’ll talk about this when you come back from out of town, it’s inconvenient to talk over the phone."

"You’re not lying to me, are you?" Xia Qingtian asked somewhat uncertainly.

"No." Bo Jingyan’s voice was deep, his tone serious. It gave her a reliable feeling. He said, "You know, I despise liars, so I would never resort to deceit myself."

Upon hearing this, Xia Qingtian remembered the repercussions and scares she had experienced before due to lying to him.

Her panicked heart surprisingly calmed down.

"Okay, I believe you." she said softly.

Bo Jingyan’s voice softened as well, "Don’t think about anything for now, go back and get some sleep. When your business is settled and you are back in A City, we can talk about it slowly."

"Okay." Xia Qingtian agreed.

Bo Jingyan gave her a few more reminders before hanging up.

After hanging up, Xia Qingtian immediately opened the flight-booking app on her phone and frantically started scrolling.

"No, why can’t I find it?" She frowned tightly and her voice was thick with anxiety.

Huo Qilin, seeing the situation, immediately stood by her side and asked with concern, "Qingtian, what are you looking for? Tell me, I can help you."

"A flight ticket..." Xia Qingtian mumbled, "I need a flight to A City today, but why can’t I find one?"

Huo Qilin also took out his phone and after checking, said, "Because this city is only a second-tier city, so it doesn’t have many flights every day. The earliest flight to A City is at 5 pm tomorrow."
