Chapter 482: Chapter 482: Make Her Happy_1

Only after firmly being certain that Xia Qingtian had truly left the bathroom did Shi Qian dare to pull herself up off the floor.

When she saw her own red-swollen cheek and disgraceful condition in the bathroom mirror, the sudden surge of anger compelled her to grab a potted plant from the sink and violently smash it against the glass.

With a loud crash, the bathroom mirror shattered into pieces.

Shi Qian staggered, taking deep breaths.

She had not expected that when she came to check if Cheng Bingbing had obediently withdrawn from Director Zhao’s crew, she would see Xia Qingtian coming out of Zhao’s room.

The sight of Xia Qingtian’s clearly triumphant face indicated her goal had been achieved.

She loathed Xia Qingtian, detested her greatly, so she couldn’t resist following her into the bathroom, primarily to see her despair and defeat, and to take the opportunity to mock her.

She never imagined that instead, she would become the one being scoffed at, humiliated.

After venting her frustration, Shi Qian carefully avoided the scattered shards of glass, steadied herself against the sink, and spat out fiercely, "Xia Qingtian, I swear, I won’t let you get away with this, never!!"

...

Xia Qingtian had no knowledge of Shi Qian’s oath.

After scolding Shi Qian, her originally pent-up mood was significantly relieved.

Seeing the time and realizing there were no significant activities that day, she decided to visit Cheng Bingbing and bring her some breakfast.

Soon, she arrived at Cheng Bingbing’s dormitory.

On her way, she had already made a phone call to Cheng Bingbing, so when she arrived, simply knocking on the door was sufficient for Cheng Bingbing to let her in.

Xia Qingtian laid out the breakfast she had bought, inviting Cheng Bingbing to join her.

While Cheng Bingbing physically came to the table, her spirits were visibly low, as if she were a shell of her former self, completely drained of energy.

Xia Qingtian mentioned that she had already clarified things with Director Zhao and that he did not blame her.

Upon hearing this, Cheng Bingbing’s hand, which was in the process of picking up food, stiffened, and her fingers clenching the chopsticks turned blue-white from pressing too hard.

Xia Qingtian sighed. It appeared that losing this role was a terrible blow to Cheng Bingbing.

Even though the matter was settled and regret wouldn’t help, she couldn’t just ignore Bingbing’s discomfort.

Wanting Cheng Bingbing to lighten up, Xia Qingtian gave her one of the dumplings and said, "By the way, I’ll tell you something that might cheer you up."

Cheng Bingbing managed a weak smile.

She didn’t think there was anything at the moment that she could be happy about.

Despite Cheng Bingbing not responding, Xia Qingtian pressed on with her story, telling her what had happened in the hotel bathroom.

"Of course, what happened in the bathroom was just a small punishment for her. In the future, I will find an opportunity to take revenge for you," Xia Qingtian reassured Cheng Bingbing.

Upon hearing her words, Cheng Bingbing was moved to the point that her eyes filled with tears.

"Sister Qingtian, give me some more time..." Cheng Bingbing said with choked sobs, "I will definitely pull myself together, overcome my psychological trauma, and will not cause trouble for you or the company."

"Alright." Xia Qingtian did not pressure her to put on a brave face immediately.

She didn’t want to rush Cheng Bingbing. She wanted to give her more time.

Since Director Zhao was notorious for not liking his actors to take on other roles while filming his movies, Xia Qingtian had cleared her schedule for at least six months.

Now that she wasn’t doing the movie with Zhao, she could take a break at home as long as she didn’t arrange other work for Cheng Bingbing.

Xia Qingtian stayed with her for the day.

Cheng Bingbing’s confidence, which was hard-fought to begin with, was shattered again, and she returned to her previous despondent state, perhaps even worse now.

Xia Qingtian didn’t dare to push her to stand strong, out of fear that she might break down.

Instead, she decided to spend time with Cheng Bingbing, keeping her company, while Qingtian’s boyfriend, Huo Qilin, showed understanding towards the situation and did not find fault with her constant companionship of Bingbing.

After a week spent with Bingbing, her emotional condition started to stabilize.

However, she was still reluctant to leave the house.

Xia Qingtian did not force her. As long as she didn’t do anything rash due to her emotional turmoil, that was enough for now.

Some things needed to be sorted out by oneself.

What others could do was limited to lending her a helping hand when she was about to fall, but they could never carry her forward indefinitely.

So, a week later, with Huo Qilin’s new album launching, she had to return to the company to manage other matters.

She told Cheng Bingbing she was leaving and then embarked on a roadshow tour with Huo Qilin to sponsor the album, working tirelessly to meet the schedule, barely managing to find time for a couple of hours of sleep in between flights.

No matter how busy she was, Xia Qingtian never forgot about Cheng Bingbing.

She’d make a point of calling her every day, checking on her and chatting if time allowed, nothing more than a quick "hello" if she was too busy.

That day, Xia Qingtian and Huo Qilin had finished a day’s promotion, and it was late.

Nevertheless, their hosts were hospitable and invited them for dinner.

Even though they tried to decline, they ended up going because their hosts were so insistent.

During the dinner, when the drinking culture inevitably arose, Xia Qingtian whispered to Huo Qilin, "In a while, dodge as many drinks as you can, if it’s really unavoidable, only one of us should get drunk."

Huo Qilin had no objections and replied, "Then I’ll drink."

Xia Qingtian laughed, because the expectation is always for the manager to take the drink for the celebrity, not the other way around. Such a circumstance would be putting the cart before the horse.

As his manager, she believed it was her responsibility to protect Huo Qilin.

"I’ll drink," she said in an assertive tone. "If I get drunk, you’ll be able to get me back to the hotel. But if you get drunk, not only wouldn’t I be able to shift you, but as a public figure, it wouldn’t be easy to get help either."

Upon saying this, she saw Huo Qilin was about to argue, so she gave another reason, "Besides, if I had to choose, I’d rather be taken care of rather than the one taking care. I don’t enjoy looking after others."

With her insisting, Huo Qilin had no choice but to agree.

When they got to the dinner table, Xia Qingtian did as planned -- declining whenever she could, and drinking Qilin’s share when she couldn’t.

By the end of the dinner, Xia Qingtian was showing signs of drunkenness. Her steps were slightly unsteady as she walked, but her mind was still clear.

So, all she needed from Qilin was a hand when she was about to trip.

As she staggered out of the hotel, her phone suddenly rang.
