Chapter 432: Chapter 432: Hiding Something_1

"Aren’t you hungry? Let me take you out for a meal."

Xia Qingtian led the way, motioning with her back hand for Huo Qilin to follow her.

She didn’t want to go home, nor did she want to be alone. Might as well keeping Huo Qilin by her side. Talking with him was better than falling into her own thoughts.

And getting him food was the compensation for his companionship.

Huo Qilin had no idea what was going on in her mind but his eyes twinkled with surprise when he heard of the meal invitation.

After finishing the song, he was about to leave the company when he instinctively glanced toward Xia Qingtian’s office. Seeing the lights still on, he walked over out of curiosity.

He did not expect to find Xia Qingtian spacing out in the office.

And never in his wildest dreams did he believe that she would take the initiative to offer a meal.

Huo Qilin couldn’t help but burst into a joyful smile.

In the end, they went to a well-reviewed restaurant nearby, which had both a good ambiance and delicious dishes.

Xia Qingtian, who had lost her appetite, began using her agile left hand to pick up dishes for him.

"You should eat more..."

Looking at the dishes in his bowl, Huo Qilin was somewhat taken aback, "Why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden?"

Xia Qingtian’s hand froze.

"This is being nice to you?" She asked, dumbfounded.

She just didn’t have an appetite and didn’t want to waste the food, so she happened to pick up some for him.

Huo Qilin blinked, "Isn’t this nice?" he asked seriously.

Xia Qingtian fell silent, thinking Huo Qilin must be so starved of affection that he would perceive her small gestures as being good to him.

"Eat more." Feeling a little more sympathetic, she tenderly picked up the dishes for him.

While eating, Huo Qilin asked her in confusion, "Why are you being so nice to me?"

"It’s obviously because you’ve been working hard."

Xia Qingtian was too shy to reveal his true intentions, so she kept picking dishes for him and found an excuse.

"At the same time, I’m grateful that you helped me solve the problem with my negative internet image. Now, nobody dares to troll me anymore and no one is invading my privacy. Inviting you to dinner is the least I can do."

Huo Qilin’s mood dropped at her words. His hand paused, and a look of gloom flashed in his eyes.

"You invited me to dinner, partly to thank me for helping you deal with the internet issues a while ago?" His voice was slightly hoarse.

Seeing as she had already spoken, Xia Qingtian could not back out.

So she confirmed, "Yes."

Just like that, Huo Qilin, who was previously thrilled to have dinner with Xia Qingtian, suddenly lost all his enthusiasm.

Even the delicious food tasted like wax to him.

Even if Xia Qingtian was absorbed in her world and was slow to recognize, she still realized his mood swing and showed a trace of confusion.

What’s wrong with him?

Wasn’t he just fine before?

Are young people these days this fickle?

In her thoughts, Xia Qingtian totally forgot that there was only a three-year age difference between Huo Qilin and her.

"What’s wrong?" She asked, noticing his change after her words, she asked tentatively, "Did I say something wrong to upset you?"

"No," Huo Qilin immediately denied, "I just had a sudden inspiration."

Saying this, he began to hurry his eating, "I want to finish eating quickly and go back to songwriting."

Hearing this, Xia Qingtian felt bad to delay his work.

After the meal, she felt disheartened being alone again.

Fortunately, the property agent she hired had messaged her with potential houses. One of them was exactly what she wanted – though a bit expensive.

Now, Xia Qingtian was not short of money. If the house met her requirements, price was not a problem.

She made arrangements to inspect the house the next day.

The anticipation of her new house improved her mood and even made her look forward to going home, knowing that she would not live there for much longer if everything went well.

The next day, Xia Qingtian went with the agent to see the house.

The property was excellent, not only meeting her requirements but surpassing her expectations. Without much bargaining, she decided to buy it.

After finalizing the house, she contacted a moving company and scheduled a date for the move.

Knowing she was about to move, Xia Qingtian felt a little sentimental. After all, she had lived here for a long time and had been through a lot.

She and Bo Jingyan were supposed to live there for the rest of their lives. She never thought they would be leaving one after another.

On her way home, it suddenly started raining and Xia Qingtian was soaked.

When she returned home, she immediately cleaned up in the bathroom, changed into clean clothes. However, after coming out of the bathroom, she discovered several missed calls on her phone.

Upon examination, she found that all of them were from Huo Qilin.

Why so many calls?

Could something have happened?

Thinking this, Xia Qingtian immediately returned his call, not caring about other things.

"What happened? Why did you call me so many times? Did something happen?" She asked anxiously.

Xia Qingtian was not to blame for being anxious. There had been too many issues recently, making her paranoid and fearing any trouble.

Huo Qilin stayed silent, not uttering a word.

If Xia Qingtian hadn’t heard his soft breath over the phone, she would have thought no one was on the line.

Huo Qilin’s silence made her feel vaguely uneasy.

Just as she was about to say something, suddenly ...

A loud thunder roared outside, and Xia Qingtian cried out in surprise, her face paling.

"Xia Qingtian, are you okay?" Huo Qilin immediately asked with concern upon hearing her cry.

"I’m fine." Xia Qingtian patted her chest, answering, "I was just startled by the sudden thunder."

She was genuinely afraid of thunder. Fortunately, there was only one thunder and it didn’t continue.

She felt that her fear of thunder was quite pretentious and embarrassing, so she didn’t mention it.

Thus, she immediately turned the topic back to Huo Qilin, asking, "Let’s talk about you. Are you faced with something you can’t deal with, something hard to talk about?"

Otherwise, why would he keep silent?
