Chapter 431: Chapter 431: Cannot Be Trapped_1
"No need." Bo Jingyan refused.
He subconsciously felt Xia Qingtian didn’t want to see Shi Qian at all.
"Alright then, if you need any help, be sure to let me know." Shi Qian reminded again, appearing altruistic.
Bo Jingyan, however, ignored her.
"I’m leaving..." He took his phone with an icy look and left the old house as he spoke, leaving only two words behind.
Once she was certain Bo Jingyan had left, Bo’s mother looked at Shi Qian with some coldness.
"Qianqian, don’t do this again. I can help you cover up once, twice, but I can’t do it for you all the time," she advised earnestly.
She was unaware of the cellphone incident until three days ago.
Until three days ago, when Shi Qian suddenly showed up with Bo Jingyan’s phone, admitting that she had done something wrong, and tearfully telling her how she had intentionally answered Xia Qingtian’s call to Bo Jingyan.
And how she let her misunderstand.
And how, to deepen the misunderstanding, she purposefully hid the phone to prevent Xia Qingtian from contacting Bo Jingyan.
She was frightened that Bo Jingyan would hold a grudge against her and drive her off after returning.
Knowing that she was wrong, she begged for help.
Seeing Shi Qian in such a pitiful state, Bo’s mother relented and agreed to help her cover up.
Just a moment ago, she took all the blame for the incident and told Bo Jingyan that she took the phone.
Shi Qian immediately thanked Bo’s mother quietly, "I’m sorry, Mother Bo. I grew up without a father, and my mother left me, too. I’m not as lucky as Xia Qingtian. If I want something, I have to fight for it. I like Brother Jingyan."
"If Xia Qingtian is the right one, I will respect and bless them. But Xia Qingtian is not worthy of Brother Jingyan, so I want to step forward. If I don’t fight for it, I won’t have a chance to stand by Brother Jingyan in my life."
Hearing her say this, Bo’s mother thought of her encounters and couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache.
"Don’t be like this anymore." She comforted and held Shi Qian’s hand, "Just tell me what you want, and I am going to help."
Shi Qian, moved by her words, rushed into her arms.
"Mother Bo, you are so kind to me, just like my own mother." She hugged Bo’s mother and remarked, "I like Brother Jingyan, not just because he is an excellent man, but also because I want to be your daughter. I promise to take good care of you in the future."
The anger she felt at being used to cover up Shi Qian’s mistakes slowly dissipated.
"Okay, I’ll let you be my daughter-in-law." She consented.
Shi Qian lay in her arms, a smug look on her face unbeknownst to Bo’s mother. Where was the hint of the grievance she had just expressed?
She feigned sorrow because she knew she couldn’t hide from Bo Jingyan that she accepted Xia Qingtian’s call.
She was afraid of being hated and retaliated against by Bo Jingyan, so she needed someone to be her scapegoat.
Thankfully Mother Bo cooperated with her, helping her get through this crisis successfully and promising to help her become the daughter-in-law of the Bo family in the future.
This time, she was the winner.
...
On the other side.
Xia Qingtian returned home in a terrible mood.
After playing with An’an for a while, her mood finally improved.
But when she returned to her room, she found that every inch of her house was filled with memories of Bo Jingyan. Anything she looked at reminded her of him.
Reminding her of their sweet past.
Once upon a time, Xia Qingtian felt sweet whenever she thought of those memories.
But now, thinking of Bo Jingyan’s attitude towards her and their current relationship, all she felt was a desolate sense of change, as if her heart was hollowed out.
She didn’t even want to live here anymore.
Their relationship had deteriorated to the point of divorce and she didn’t want to stay in a villa full of his shadow.
She didn’t want to keep herself trapped in the past memories.
After making up her mind, Xia Qingtian started to look for a suitable house.
The house she needed didn’t have to be big, but enough for her and An’an, as well as a babysitter.
But suitable houses were not that easy to find.
While searching for suitable housing, and dealing with the company’s affairs with a broken right hand, she deliberately blocked all information about Bo Jingyan.
However, lately, the online trolls who had been attacking her were taken to court, and no one dared to cross the line again.
So, the entertainment industry was calm again.
Both the entertainers and the fans were behaving themselves.
Cheng Bingbing was focused on her acting, while Huo Qilin was preparing songs for his second album and occasionally taking part in events. The other artists and staff in the company were busy with their own work.
There was not much work for Xia Qingtian, the injured to do.
One day,
Despite not yet being off work, Xia Qingtian had nothing to do.
Even so, she didn’t go home.
Because she didn’t want to go home to face a house full of Bo Jingyan’s memories, she didn’t want to be permanently trapped in the past.
Xia Qingtian just sat in her quiet office, as if contemplating a lot thoughts, and yet also contemplating nothing.
Until a knock on the door brought her back to reality.
Looking up, she found Huo Qilin standing at her office door, with a guitar slung over his shoulder. Noticing her looking his way, he asked, "It’s getting late, aren’t you leaving?"
Hearing his words, Xia Qingtian looked up and saw that the sky outside had already darkened, and all the office lights were turned off, except for the light in her room.
It was indeed getting late, and everyone else in the company had left work.
Checking the time, Xia Qingtian noticed it was already 8 o’clock.
But she didn’t feel like going home at all.
Just as she was about to make up an excuse to send Huo Qilin away, an unusual noise interrupted them.
Before Xia Qingtian could react, she saw Huo Qilin covering his stomach with a sheepish look on his face.
She immediately realized the strange noise just now was Huo Qilin’s stomach growling from hunger.
Before she could say anything, Huo Qilin had already grumbled indignantly, "I have been practicing in the music room and composing songs all day to ensure my second album can earn money for the company as soon as possible. I haven’t eaten all day."
"As my agent, you have such a hardworking artist, you don’t have to praise me, but at least you shouldn’t ridicule me!"
Xia Qingtian didn’t have any plans to make fun of him.
Feeling hungry and making noise is just a natural body response.
"Don’t worry, I won’t make fun of you," she stood up from her chair, put on her coat, grabbed her bag, and said, "Let’s go."
"Where are we going?" Huo Qilin asked confusedly, watching Xia Qingtian’s brisk movements.
