Chapter 405: Chapter 405 Don’t Think of Backing Out_1

"Bo Jingyan, it hurts, it hurts so much..." Xia Qingtian, tears glazing her eyes, looked at Bo Jingyan.

Bo Jingyan then softened his actions.

Yet Xia Qingtian was still crying out in pain.

Bo Jingyan’s rational mind told him that it was just a finger cut, not a severed finger; it shouldn’t feel that painful.

But upon seeing her reddened eyes, he inexplicably said, "I’ll be gentler."

Then, Bo Jingyan really did ease his actions and even bent over unconsciously to blow on her wound, his movements were incredibly tender.

Watching Bo Jingyan like this, Xia Qingtian felt as if they had returned to the past.

The man in front of her had not lost his memory, and had not forgotten her, still loving her to his very core.

Immersed in these thoughts, she didn’t even remember acting pitiful in front of Bo Jingyan.

Soon, Bo Jingyan had treated her wound.

"It’s done..." Bo Jingyan said as he returned the items to the first aid box, adding, "Be careful for the next couple of days and keep the wound dry."

After speaking, he looked at her, puzzled by her lack of response.

Xia Qingtian gazed at him, seeming to be in a daze, lost in unknown thoughts.

"What’s wrong?" Bo Jingyan frowned and asked.

Xia Qingtian couldn’t help but ask, "Did you remember something?"

Her inquiry was puzzlingly abrupt, and Bo Jingyan didn’t understand.

"Remember what?"

"I mean, about us." Xia Qingtian’s tone was somewhat urgent, "If you didn’t remember anything, then why were you so caring and gentle with me just now? Dressing my wound..."

Ever since Bo Jingyan woke up, he had been cold and somewhat loathsome towards her.

Had he remembered something to act so concerned about her?

"No," Bo Jingyan denied, "I didn’t remember anything. As for why I cared for you, dressed your wound..."

He paused.

He wasn’t sure himself why, when he saw Xia Qingtian injured, in pain, he just lost control.

After a long while, Bo Jingyan continued, "That’s because when you were injured, it was while preparing food for me. I don’t want to owe you."

His explanation seemed to be meant more for himself than for Xia Qingtian.

Upon hearing his words, Xia Qingtian felt a pang of disappointment.

She had thought that Bo Jingyan’s concern was because he had remembered something.

Little did she expect, he was merely acting out of obligation.

Xia Qingtian observed her bandaged wound before getting up from the couch and heading for the kitchen.

"What are you doing?" Bo Jingyan grabbed her arm.

Xia Qingtian didn’t attempt to free her arm. She merely replied calmly, "Dinner isn’t ready yet."

Bo Jingyan frowned in disapproval, "You have a wound on your hand."

"Bo Jingyan, is this concern I’m seeing?" Could not help but ask him, "Even if you haven’t remembered anything, do you still have feelings for me?"

"You’re overthinking," Bo Jingyan responded emotionlessly, "I’m merely not heartless enough to let an injured person cook for me."

Perhaps she had been disappointed too many times, and Xia Qingtian had become used to it.

After hearing his explanation, she did not dwell on it any longer, instead she asked, "What about dinner then?"

Bo Jingyan offered a solution, "Have the household chef make it."

Xia Qingtian bit her lip, "Your taste..."

"I lost my sense of taste a long time ago," Bo Jingyan released her arm, "A day or two more won’t make a difference."

In the end, dinner that night was cooked by the household chef.

After dinner, Bo Jingyan retired to his study.

Meanwhile, Xia Qingtian went to play with An’an.

An’an could recognize people now, and would always greet her with a toothless smile. An’an was unbearably cute.

...

That night.

While Xia Qingtian was half-asleep, a sudden thunderclap jolted her awake.

Opening her eyes, she found the outside world filled with flashes of lightning and echoing with thunder, it was a bit scary.

Previously each time there was a storm, Bo Jingyan would stay by her side, holding her tightly to comfort her and provide a sense of safety.

Now that she was alone in her room, she was instantly wrapped up by an overwhelming sense of loneliness.

At this moment, she missed Bo Jingyan terribly.

She missed him, his embrace, and his warmth.

Since she missed Bo Jingyan, Xia Qingtian decided not to stifle her feelings.

She brought her pillow along and knocked on the door of Bo Jingyan’s room.

At this moment, Bo Jingyan was also awake.

He too was awakened by the thunder, and was feeling restless ever since. It felt like there was something important for him to do in this sort of stormy weather.

But for the life of him, he couldn’t remember what it was.

Upon hearing the knock on his door, his handsome face was filled with agitation.

Opening the door to find Xia Qingtian outside, the restlessness in his heart seemed to ease somewhat, "What’s the matter?"

Xia Qingtian clutched her pillow tighter.

"I’m really scared of thunder...." She looked up at Bo Jingyan, her face a bit pale, "Before you lost your memory, you’d always stay with me."

Bo Jingyan furrowed his brows, "Xia Qingtian, you..."

"You promised me three requests."

Seeing the look on his face, Xia Qingtian guessed he would refuse, swiftly cut him off.

"For the first one, I asked you to move back here. Now, for the second one. I’m scared tonight and I want you to stay with me."

Bo Jingyan watched her for a long while, his tone low when he finally spoke, "Okay."

"That’s great." Xia Qingtian instantly flashed a happy smile.

She brought her pillow, squeezed past Bo Jingyan to enter his room, and quickly crawled into his bed as if worried he would withdraw his promise.

She buried herself entirely under his blanket, leaving only her head poking out.

Seeing that Bo Jingyan was still lingering by the door, she patted the space beside her invitingly.

"Bo Jingyan, it’s getting late. Aren’t you going to get some sleep?"

Watching her unperturbed demeanor, Bo Jingyan felt somewhat speechless.

In the end, he spoke, "For tonight, you sleep on the bed and I’ll sleep on the floor."

"You have to sleep in the bed with me, otherwise, I’ll still be scared." Xia Qingtian didn’t want to let go of this golden opportunity to share a room with Bo Jingyan, "You promised, you can’t back out now."

With no other option, Bo Jingyan could only lay back down on the bed and turned off the room light.
