Chapter 246: 227, The Origin Story of Ivy Aretha
"No, she was sent by Luna Cooper!"
Calvin Gordon was so agitated that his body began to tremble uncontrollably. As Michael went to help him, Risa Scott reached out to offer support first. Calvin was still in an extremely emotional state, muttering to himself as if he had been shocked, "She looks so similar, she must be Luna Cooper. No, Luna Cooper is dead; she’s her daughter. I, Calvin Gordon, absolutely won’t allow my son to marry her. Get out, tell them to leave!"
It was as if Calvin had suddenly gone mad. Just a moment ago, Bianca’s face had seemed agreeable to him, but now it became unbearable.
"She’s not my granddaughter either. Someone, get them out of here... cough, cough..."
Just seeing that face reminded him of unbearable past events. He had sworn never to allow that woman to appear before him again.
"Calvin, don’t get too worked up. There are many women who look alike these days. It doesn’t mean that everyone who looks like Luna Cooper is her daughter!"
Upon hearing Risa’s words, Calvin calmed down a bit and looked closely at Ivy from head to toe. Her clear, lively eyes, delicate eyebrows, broad forehead, and radiant, lotus-like demeanor were identical to Luna Cooper from 25 years ago, even their composure in the face of adversity was the same.
Ivy stood there without moving but was beginning to understand what was going on. Based on Calvin’s sudden outburst, it seemed she looked like someone he despised that he once knew.
Could it be her mother?
No one resembles someone more closely than their mother. Some fragments of her memory had slowly returned after the car accident, such as having had a father and mother, both of whom died in the accident.
However, she still couldn’t remember her parents’ names. Could it be Luna Cooper that Calvin was talking about?
"Dad, I don’t know who Luna Cooper is or what the grievances between you two are, but Ivy and I are already married. She’s your daughter-in-law, and I hope you can accept her, along with Bianca. You’ve always wanted me to get married and have a child. Now that I’m married and have a child, what’s the meaning of rejecting them because of a face that resembles some irrelevant person?"
Michael knew that this was not the best time to argue but understood that if he avoided the issue now, it would be equivalent to agreeing with Calvin’s opinion and abandoning Ivy and Bianca morally.
So, even though Calvin was still caught up in his sudden agitation, Michael made his point clear.
"I don’t care if she’s your daughter or wife; there’s no room for negotiation. I won’t accept a woman with a face like that marrying into the Gordon family!"
Calvin was furious, coughing non-stop as he spoke, "Not just me, but even if your mother were alive, she wouldn’t approve of you marrying this woman!"
Apart from being curious about the face that looked so much like her own, Ivy was more intrigued by the relationship between Calvin and this woman named Luna Cooper. For a man to hate a woman to such an extent that he couldn’t even tolerate the sight of a similar face was quite rare.
Hearing the word ’mom,’ Michael’s heart trembled. Unlike his father, who had been domineering and aggressive in his youth, his mother had always been kind to everyone. Why would she also despise this woman named Luna Cooper?
Had this woman truly committed heinous acts?
If it was about business matters, his father wouldn’t have mentioned his long-deceased mother. Michael knew it would upset him to bring her up. Suddenly, he felt that there were many things he didn’t know about, things that he hadn’t missed but had forgotten.
After a pause, Michael looked at Calvin and said firmly, "Dad, like I said, we’re already married and have a child. That’s a fact that can’t be changed, whether you accept it or not!"
"Divorce, divorce! Go to the Civil Affairs Bureau right now and get a divorce..." Calvin gasped and coughed continually, but his coughing only intensified when his eyes fell on Ivy’s face.
"Dad..."
"Michael, can’t you just let it go and indulge your father a little? His health isn’t good. Can’t you listen to him?"
Risa Scott intervened immediately, cutting off Michael’s words, "Just go and do what he wants, alright?"
At this moment, Risa naturally sided with Calvin. Initially, she had thought that Calvin had compromised when accepting Ivy and the baby, but she didn’t expect the situation to turn around so quickly, with Ivy’s face becoming unbearable for the entire Gordon family.
She could only blame Ivy’s bad luck!
Luna Cooper was like a nightmare for the entire Gordon family. Calvin had been known to wake up from his dreams, frightened. Not to mention a face that looked like hers, even seeing a photo of her could make him seriously ill.
Risa knew this better than anyone, but she had never noticed how much Ivy looked like that woman!
There was no way Ivy would ever be allowed in the Gordon family. After all, Michael was still a son of the Gordons. No matter how infatuated he was with Ivy, it was only temporary. He couldn’t possibly let his father die of anger for a fleeting fascination. In the end, Ivy would be nothing more than a mistress.
At this thought, a smug smile appeared on Risa’s face.
"So, you’re saying if he wants me to divorce, I have to?"
Michael’s words had initially been more tactful, considering his father’s health. But upon hearing Risa’s words, with their clear implications, he realized that she was trying to take advantage of the situation and kick them when they were down.
"You shut up, Michael! Did you hear what I said? Divorce! The Gordon family doesn’t want this kind of daughter-in-law or granddaughter!"
Calvin, now supported by Risa, hurled his crutch at Ivy. Michael, who had been holding Bianca, wanted to block the crutch but was afraid of hurting her. He quickly tried to pull Ivy out of the way, but he was too slow. The crutch struck Ivy’s foot.
"Hiss!"
Ivy winced in pain but managed to keep herself from crying out. The situation was already bad enough, and she didn’t want to cause any more trouble at this critical moment.
"Ivy..."
"I’m fine. You should go check on your father!"
Calvin was already panting heavily, coughing constantly. The sound of his coughs filled the living room, scaring Bianca.
Ivy took Bianca from Michael’s arms, and the little girl, probably frightened, sobbed quietly in her embrace. Her big, round eyes glanced timidly at Calvin. When Ivy held her, she whispered, asking if Grandpa didn’t want them anymore, and if she was going to lose her daddy!
Upon hearing this, Ivy’s heart wrenched in pain!
