Chapter 245: 226, The Origin Story of Ivy Aretha

"Good good, little miss is so well-behaved!"

Aunt Wagner had watched Michael Gordon grow up, and over the years she had been anxious to see him without a suitable girl by his side. Now that he had both a wife and a child, she was genuinely happy for him.

As they spoke, the servants had already brought in the gifts. Bianca Aretha, however, held her gift for Grandpa tightly in her arms, insisting on presenting it to him personally. The little girl had always envied other children who had both parents and grandparents. After finally meeting her father, she still lacked grandparents like other kids.

Ever since her father said she would meet her grandfather, Bianca had been excited for days and had prepared a special gift for him herself.

Now that they were home, she naturally wanted to give it to him personally!

"Aunt Wagner, let her do it!"

Just as Aunt Wagner was about to help, Michael Gordon stopped her. She smiled and her fondness for Bianca grew even stronger.

When they entered, Calvin Gordon was not in the hall, only Risa Scott was there. Michael seemed to have no intention of making introductions, which left Ivy Aretha feeling a little awkward. Being an elder, she still took the initiative to greet Risa with an "aunt."

In the beginning, Risa had opposed Ivy marrying Michael. Ivy felt somewhat apprehensive when she addressed Risa as "aunt." However, this time Risa still gave her face.

She didn’t embarrass Ivy, instead she asked someone to serve them tea. The chaos in Risa’s eyes as they fell on Ivy’s petite, delicate, yet stunning face was quite evident. Even from a distance, Ivy could still feel it.

Strictly speaking, this was Ivy’s first time meeting Risa. However, she always had a sense of familiarity in her mind, a familiarity that made her nerves somewhat chaotic, uncertain whether it was good or bad.

"Where’s my dad?"

In the brief and awkward silence, Michael furrowed his brows and asked as he didn’t see Calvin Gordon’s figure.

"Your dad’s upstairs. He’ll be right down. He just told me you guys arrived and asked me to call him. I’ve already sent someone to get him, so he should be down soon. Please sit down for now!"

As she said this, she asked someone to go upstairs and notify Calvin.

Risa appeared warm and cordial, unlike the woman Ivy had heard about from Michael. Instead, she seemed somewhat friendly, though not overly so. Ivy sat on the sofa and waited, while Michael led Bianca around the hall to look at the luxurious villa courtyard, something the child had never witnessed before and was quite excited about.

Bianca held Michael’s hand tightly and toured all the rooms on the lower floor. Just as they returned to the hall, they heard a kind voice coming from the stairs.

"Is this Bianca?" As Calvin Gordon leaned on his crutch, he descended the stairs, his gaze falling on the little figure wandering around the hall. A faint smile on his face, he remarked, "Michael was right, she really is a delightful and appealing child!"

While speaking, Calvin had already reached the bottom of the stairs. He bent down and looked at Bianca with affectionate laughter on his face.

"Hello, Grandpa!" Bianca greeted him sweetly, then immediately offered her carefully prepared gift. "Grandpa, this is the gift I prepared especially for you!"

"Great!" Calvin happily accepted the gift, then asked, "What gift has Bianca prepared for her grandpa?"

Calvin had grown old, and he had been longing for a grandchild for many years. When he finally met his granddaughter, he was truly delighted and curious about the gift the child had prepared for him.

"Open it, and you’ll know, Grandpa!" Bianca didn’t elaborate but merely blinked her eyes at Calvin. Her clear, round eyes dazzled like a whirlpool, causing others to stare in awe.

"Alright!"

Just as Calvin was about to open the gift, Ivy stood up from the sofa and walked over. After all, she was a junior, and it was impolite for her to remain seated when an elder had appeared.

"Dad!"

Ivy spoke first, and before Calvin had a chance to raise his head, Michael also called out, "Dad, this is Ivy!"

Having heard the word "Dad" twice, Calvin stopped unwrapping the gift, muttered "good," and instinctively looked at Ivy. However, just one look...

If Ivy had known it would turn out like this, she would have preferred never to have come to the Gordon family, nor to have met Calvin Gordon.

"Clang!"

A crisp sound fell to the ground, and the half-unwrapped gift in Calvin’s hand suddenly dropped, catching him off guard. Bianca quickly picked it up and, standing on tiptoes, handed it back to Calvin. "Grandpa, the gift fell. I’ve picked it up for you!"

"Clang!"

The gift Bianca held out on tiptoe was swiped away by Calvin’s big hand, flying out with a loud bang, much louder than when it had accidentally dropped earlier.

The force of the swipe seemed as if it intended to shatter the small suitcase. Bianca, frightened, cried out and hid in Michael’s arms, not daring to look at Calvin’s sudden terrifying expression.

"Dad, what’s wrong?"

Michael tried to comfort the little girl in his arms while looking in confusion at his father’s sudden reaction. Calvin had a formerly kind but now ashen face, an ugly expression twisting his features. He stared fiercely at Ivy standing beside him, his mouth quivering so badly that he couldn’t utter a word.

Ivy naturally noticed the change in Calvin’s demeanor. She wanted to say something, but she was afraid to because of his emotional expression. When people are emotionally upset, it’s easy not to be able to speak and also to say the wrong thing.

She simply stood there silently.

"Dad, what on earth is wrong with you?"

Seeing that Calvin wasn’t saying anything, but his expression was terrifying, Michael felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, and then stretched out his hand to steady his father’s shaking body. However, before he could touch him, Calvin forcefully shook off his hand.

The next moment, Calvin’s roar erupted furiously, "You unfilial son! Who allowed you to marry Luna Cooper’s daughter!"

Did he say Luna Cooper?

At these three words, everyone in the room widened their eyes in amazement. Risa Scott covered her mouth to stifle a scream, barely managing to regain her composure.

Michael’s eyebrows furrowed tightly. He looked at Ivy then back at Calvin before speaking, "Dad, you’ve mistaken Ivy. She has nothing to do with the Luna Cooper you mentioned!"

He had checked before – David Aretha’s wife was not Luna Cooper but Emma Stones.
