Chapter 342: Desolate Labyrinth (4)

After solving Little Noodle’s problem, Chunhua scanned its description.

In the Tianmeng Continent, beast contracting was also a thing but it isn’t widely practiced than beast rearing method because of the possibility of contract backlash when the beast became more powerful than its contractor.

Beast rearing is more conventional because it had less chance for the beast to betray its master in the future.

The most powerful beast to over get contracted was a Tier 7 Lightning Winged Tian Wu (White Tiger) which was under the Tianmeng Emperor.

But she never heard someone raising a dragon much less a phoenix so she doesn’t have a clue how to raise Little Noodle.

Little Noodle is a Combat Type?

Do all types of phoenixes’ have these skills? Chunhua was expecting that Little Noodle would have more long-ranged attacks like Little Lotus.

Her eyes glanced at the chick’s tiny wings and body. How could Little Noodle use fists and body slam?

Chunhua couldn’t bear to imagine her roasted scented fluffy sachet fighting.

(´._.`) Is the system glitching? Displaying the wrong information?

"Grandpa Triton, is Little Noodle’s Mother a close combat class?" It said an apple doesn’t fall from a tree and so maybe Little Noodle inherited its Mother’s genes. Chunhua was very curious.

"Not quite. She is a Dual Archmagus that specializes in physical enhancement and fire magic. Additionally, because she’s under the Death Monarch as the 10th council member, you can pretty much guess she’s a tough one to kill, proficient in the art of close combat. It took an entire population of my best fighters, mages to injure her." Triton recalled the last battle. Fire was the natural counter-element of water, so he and his race were at a disadvantage.

An archmagus? And someone even a Spirit Venerable is incapable of fighting?

Chunhua couldn’t help but feel nervous and looked ahead. Good thing she could already see the island of their destination is already within their sight.

Haoran also saw it and got ready.

Grandpa Triton, who was meditating, opened his eyes in alert as he sensed a powerful presence nearby. "Kid, we’ve got company." His apparition floated at the edge and that wave the mana will leak when used to cast spell became even more apparent.

It may not be as powerful as that old nether flame witch but one can’t get their guards down especially if he doesn’t know if it’s a foe or ally yet.

"What do you mean-" Chunhua’s question was left unsaid when they heard a loud blasting sound and saw a white mushroom cloud on the island leading Chunhua to realize that it should be the one Grandpa was referring to.

Both Haoran and Chunhua looked at each other before the former stood up and approached the edge.

Clammy asked, "Boss, what’s going on? Are we still going to continue going there?"

"Wait for the explosions to pass." Haoran said leading Clammy to stop. Unfortunately he didn’t have super eyesight like Xiao Hua, so he could only rely on Xiao Hua. "What do you see Xiao Hua?"

Chunhua’s vision closed in and she saw shadow of the ships, and tiny moving silhouettes which should be the halflings but before she can see more, these ships one by one exploded after being hit by balls of flames. The smoke produced by the explosion blanketed the whole island in into a mass of white smog. "There should be Halflings there but something is attacking them." Chunhua reported, a little unsure because the size of the fireballs big as trucks was worrying.

Could there be someone more powerful than Dranax in this special realm? Heavens, I’m tired enough, please don’t make it difficult anymore.

Chunhua quickly got her answer because all of them saw something huge emerged from smoke and left a trail of sparks and flame.

(っ °Д °;)っ

"Kid!" Triton shouted. He couldn’t do anything and could only watch.

The foodie crew on board quickly picked up their meals and hide behind the most thickest skin before resuming eating.

One could see the reflection of Haoran’s eyes, there was a meteorite coming fast towards them. "Take cover!" He quickly took out his frying pan, used it as a shield and hugged Chunhua.

Clammy also shouted, "Help, Boss!" With that size, he’s going to be squashed.

"I’ll borrow your pan, Chef Long." Chunhua snatched the pan from Haoran’s hands, leapt into the air and swung the giant pan.

"Xiao Hua." Haoran tried to grab the hem of her azure robe but couldn’t touch in time.

----

[Crystal Energy Mine Island]

The culprit of casting the meteorite attack a seconds ago averted his attention from the direction of Chunhua’s group and looked at the dead halflings sprawled over the ground and on the burning ships.

Making sure none was alive, he returned towards the entrance of the labyrinth, only to stop midway after sensing something.

He looked up and was shocked. "What?" ( ;ↀ⌓ↀ)

He quickly cast defensive skills to defend himself while attacking the meteorite that was still in mid-air.

The collision set out a series of fireworks in the sky.

The halfling coughed out dust.

Driven by rage, a big magic circle followed by another and another appeared above the sky.

---

[In the Sea]

Grandpa Triton looked at the meteor that was sent back: ╭(* _ *)╮

He wanted to pinch himself to confirm he was not dreaming but he remembered he was a weapon spirit. Again, he decided to drop his logical reasoning.

The foodie crew gave Chunhua a round of applause.

(^▽^) (^▽^) (^▽^) (^▽^)

"Kya!" "Ji ji ji!" "Chirp Chirp."

"Master/Mother/Mama is so awesome!" Little Mantou translated on behalf of the crew.

The frying pan was still in a state of shock after being used as a baseball bat: Hey, what are you doing? Master, why did you hand me over to this nutjob? Quickly get me Master! I’m afraid for my life. (iДi)

Haoran was not able to hear the pan’s complaints but he was concern for Chunhua. He pulled her in back inside the shell and made sure she had no injuries before sighing in relief. She always makes him worry.

"Chef Long, where could I get a pan like yours?" Chunhua’s eyes darted at the fireworks and the pan. That was so cool. If she has one of this, she can just toss meteorites back without worries and its user-friendly a.k.a. portable too. She gave the pan back after completing scoring one point.

"You can borrow in from time to time." If she likes it, then it’s alright. Unhesitatingly, Haoran gave his permission.

Chunhua’s eyes brightened. "You can borrow my bangle too."

The pan: Master No! How could you just hand me over! Think of my well-being! Don’t you remember the damage she made last time? I’m still traumatized! (TдT)

The bangle: Stop shouting like a girl!

Chunhua: I’m not shouting.

The frying pan was stunned: Who’s that?

The bangle: Not you Master.

The frying pan: Who’s the one talking like a sissy?

The bangle: Say that again!

Chunhua repeated: I’m not shouting.

The bangle: It’s not you Master. Hey, girly, take back what you said? Do you want a piece of me, huh?

The frying pan: Come on, I’ll not back down in a fight.

Chunhua: Hey, who are you talking too?

Sadly, their conversation was put to a halt when the sky was dotted with more flaming baseballs...I mean meteorites.

Haoran handed the bat to their ace player.

Chunhua grabbed the pan and began batting. "This is fun!"

The pan cried: Save me!

Grandpa Trident: (ㆆ _ ㆆ)

----

The halfling thought he could take the ace player down but he was totally unprepared for his attacks to come back.

The halfling run avoiding the meteorites raining on the islands.

His screaming voice filled the surroundings, "Ahh! Damn it!"

---

The total baseball fiasco extended for three minutes and when the sky is clear, Clammy resumed it journey unimpeded towards the island.

"Goodness Gracious." Grandpa Trident exclaimed after finding the numerous bodies laying on the fort and ground.

The smell of blood and burning flesh permeated the air. They pinched their noses.

Chunhua and Haoran extinguished the fire and inspected the corpse one by one looking for the palace secretary.

"So, it’s you, little twerps."

They all looked up when they heard the voice and saw a shortie panting and wearing a robe, holding a magic staff standing on the threshold of the cave entrance.
