Chapter 317: Haoran’s Stubborness

The origin of the candidates was always the talk of the planets and was major headlines on the gossip columns in several parts of the galaxies, and even parts of impoverished civilizations were no exception.

Feeling their gazes, Zurui wanted to sneak out but these guys blocked his route of retreat and gave him a look only those gossiping aunties would make.

"You’re unfair Master, we poured our heart to you and you’re going to leave just like that? At least tell us something." The big guys scooted over near him, leaning closer.

Zurui was instantly suffocated by the alcoholic scent. He pushed their faces away and returned in his seat lest the door of his residence will be destroyed from their pursuit.

"Alright, alright. My place isn’t that special."

"Let’s talk about girls first." Boar wriggled his eyebrows.

"Skip that." Zurui didn’t want to talk about it at all. He only had unpleasant memories about it.

The other men groaned in frustration and gave their Master sidelong glances, encouraging him.

Settling in, Zurui remained firm and couldn’t help but picked up bamboo cup, take a sip to moisten his throat which he soon regretted.

"What is this?" Zurui felt his vision became a little blurry and waves of headache came over.

"It’s the true drink of men." Harald beat his chest with pride.

True drink of men?

The fatality of the alcohol only took less than three seconds to strike and Zurui’s eyes were already hazy and cannot endure this true drink of men.

A minute later, the Peony Pavilion men looking like robust peonies grown from tons of fertilizer with their upper bodies bare were standing, swaying their bodies to the side, sobbing in between patting Zurui’s shoulders.

Zurui wept recalling the memories of his childhood, "My brother is the only one who cared about me in the previous world. When we were children and no one would support us to school, he used to borrow our old neighbor’s kitchen and sewing tools, he dragged me to the streets to sell embroidery, youtiao, green onion pancakes, fried sweet potatoes, and many more."

"Those days were hard. We encounter child traffickers, robbers, gangsters who asked for protection fees, bargaining aunties who only wants free tasting, police officers who target vendors and so on but my brother was very smart and handled those situations well."

"My brother became the biological father I never had and supported me unconditionally. He sent me to school amidst him juggling between three works. Back then, I was a very sickly kid and teen and couldn’t do strenuous tasks. He spoiled me and rarely got angry with me. Even when I had trouble in learning, he was there, patiently teaching me."

"As when we grow up, he became more outstanding. Don’t you know he established his restaurant only at the age of 18 and it’s highly praised with a lot of foot traffic, featured in some magazines, beating even the long-standing competitors."

"Sadly that didn’t last long because of that unreasonable man and those greedy foster family of ours." Zurui’s tone turned a bit sour and he didn’t delve on the topic any longer and diverted it elsewhere.

Long Zurui shared all the things that happened in his childhood, the embarrassing moments down to the last details.

"But what troubles me the most in his stubbornness, when he wishes to do something, curious about something, or liked something, he will remain steadfast until the end." Zurui added.

From night till morning, the Peony Pavilion’s first toga party continued and when Zurui woke up to a massive hangover headache, he was stunned to see by what he saw.

It was Boar’s face pouting and close to his lips. Both of their upper shirts were off and he was hugging Boar with no gap in between them.

"Ahhh!" His horrifying scream echoed throughout the whole territory.

----

What Zurui spoke was really true, because Long Haoran’s determination and stubbornness had no bounds.

Even at the expense of his life, he did everything to bring the villain’s empire down just to avenge his brother in the original plot.

And this may apply to his love life too...cough...

On the upper decks of the ship, Long Haoran and Li Chunhua were walking closely together.

There something different about Chef Long. Li Chunhua thought.

Ever since the strange matter in the captain’s room, he would always give her this particular look resembling how her Senior Sister would look at a pile of spirit stones and asked her to go the gambling house and be her mascot.

Or maybe she was just overthinking?

Her train of thoughts was cut off when the man spoke again while handing over a mirror, using a low questioning tone. "Is this yours?"

Li Chunhua saw the familiar Odysseus mirror that she forgotten to bring along and took it from the Chef Long’s hand.

"It’s mine." She answered but when she recalled its function, she turned rigid.

"Ah, Chef Long, you didn’t use the mirror, right? You didn’t see anything in the mirror?" Chunhua stared at the man nervously, hoping that the mirror didn’t have any recording function and protects the user’s privacy.

At her question, Long Haoran inadvertently stared at her lips. His eyes hiding some emotions stayed on them for a long while before withdrawing his attention on them and looking at her eyes, uttering, "No."

"Thank goodness." Chunhua mumbled, very relieved and patted her chest.

Haoran caught the embarrassment evident in her voice and felt a rare emotion at this moment, having the urge to tease, "Why? Was I supposed to see something?" His eyes turned one part playful and three parts probing.

"Ah?" Li Chunhua’s abruptly lifted her head and shook her head fast, storing the mirror in her inventory and denying anything. "No. No. I was just asking. Don’t mind me."

Her getting defensive so suddenly and the abnormal blush on her cheeks indicated that she was lying but Haoran didn’t expose her.

Though his eyes were clouded at her words and thousands of thoughts swirled in his mind leading him to have some guesses about the present situation and he began to feel a little grateful about it.

He wouldn’t bet that the end of the dream was just a hoax, especially how grim it was.

But there were still some parts missing that he didn’t understand.

Yet, there was something he became absolutely sure of.

His eyes inadvertently landed on the woman beside him again before revealing his deepest thoughts.

He likes her.

Long Haoran declared in his mind in sheer conviction.
