Chapter 291: Going Ignitio in the Halfling City (2)
"Champion, are you ready? We are about to depart." Shillo knocked on the door of Long Haoran’s room.
Long Haoran was currently wiping his upper body with a wet cloth. Under the soft light radiated by the elliptic bead. One could see the fine lines on his abdominal area, and if Li Chunhua were here, she would describe them as an eight-in-one pack of bread buns.
The clothes in Long Haoran’s disappeared, and he wore the Hanfu he also made last night, which had the same design as Xiao Hua’s. He also made long pants and a new pair of azure silk shoes with soles padded from gold-grade cotton.
It was very soft and comfortable on the feet, but its hardness was greater than that of steel.
"Wake up." He shook the three gently.
The three gluttons yawned and sat up. Because they were in somebody else’s house and not their mama’s, they didn’t exhibit unruly behaviors and only followed Long Haoran despite still being drowsy.
In their half-awakened state, they ate the quick meal Long Haoran had made using the picture book.
Earlier, he had made bowls of steaming congee and pickled side dishes, but they disappeared as well, and in their place, a plate of hot, badly charred roasted eel appeared with poisonous properties.
He merely gazed at it before storing it in his inventory space. He didn’t ask anything, knowing his question wouldn’t be entertained. Just receiving some sort of validation that Xiao Hua was fine was already enough.
After finishing their meal, Long Haoran opened the door.
Shillo and a line of nymphs were waiting for him.
"Where are we going?" Long Haoran let the little guys jump on his shoulders before asking.
"Champion, come and follow me. We’ll take you there." Shillo didn’t answer his question but stepped aside to make a way for him.
Their group climbed out of the wrecked ship and traveled by foot out of the underground cave. They entered a narrow pathway full of steep rocks for 20 minutes until they arrived in another cave, ruined and unrecognizable.
In an instant, Long Haoran felt the intense heat and gazed ahead, stunned upon seeing a sea of lava.
"Champion," Shillo called. She was standing beside a well with some of the bricks missing.
Long Haoran strode towards her, finding the current setting suspicious. In a voice full of doubt, he said, "Where exactly are we going?"
"It’s not us. It’s just you. You are going to the Halfling City." Shillo answered in riddles before handing him something; one was a mirror, and the other was a round golden object embellished with tiny colorful gems.
Long Haoran stared at the item. Because his appraisal skill was only at the beginner level, he was only able to see the items’ names.
[Basic Appraisal Skill activated]
[Odysseus Dream Magic Mirror, Legendary Grade]
[Eye of Horus, Legendary Grade]
Long Haoran was about to ask why the nymph gave him these valuable things when he felt his right eye suddenly throbbing in pain. The mirror in his hand nearly slipped inside the well he held onto it in the nick of time.
[The condition has been met. Eye of Horus is equipped.]
"Handsome Chef?"
"Kya?"
"Ji ji ji?"
The three went to a quick check on Long Haoran out of concern after they sensed him in pain.
Long Haoran’s vision was beginning to be blurry, and he saw images intermittently flowing in his mind. In the midst, he felt the golden object in his hand move. Opening his palm, he saw an eye staring at him.
"May the good spirit in the seas watch over you."
"Kya!"
Those were the last things he remembered before everything went bright.
----
[Halfling City, Time: 5:24 a.m.]
The sky was beginning to brighten.
Despite the Halflings only starting their day, the city was already bustling with activities.
A group was flocking towards the market for groceries, while others were preparing for their work in various manufacturing facilities and departments donning the same uniform.
The tall buildings made of metal formed in different shapes, roads made of red bricks, bridges connecting buildings, metal boats sailing afloat on the strait, exhaust black fumes rising from the funnels and chimneys, the peddlers shouting their goods, halflings bargaining over prices, and the loud noise of engines and machinery entered Li Chunhua’s ears and eyes.
And the words ’prosperous city’ came to her mind.
"This special realm is really weird," Li Chunhua muttered in a low voice.
The area where she ended up seems to be a residential area.
Li Chunhua’s robed appearance and paddling like a duck caught a lot of attention.
"Mister, can I ask you something?" Li Chunhua saw an old man with a short white beard and wearing a brown, yellowish vest over his green shirt sitting against the light post. Besides his feet, there were all sorts of metal contraptions.
The old man blew the steam out of his pipe. His eyes roamed over her delicate face before replying, "What is it?"
"Mister, do you know where the arena is?" Li Chunhua heard the halflings talk about the nymphs being in the arena.
"I know of it." It took three seconds for the old man to respond.
Joy was about to appear on Li Chunhua’s face, but when she heard the old man’s next words, her enthusiasm died down. "There are still three hours before it opens. Are you also going to see those blue-skinned monsters?"
Three hours?
"More importantly, you looked like a kid. Do you have enough money for an entrance fee?" A puff of smoke escaped Elder Halfling’s mouth as he asked this. This halfling thought she would pass as an adult by dressing up this way, but her height was shorter than his granddaughter at home.
The arena needs money. Is he referring to copper coins, gold, or bloodmoon ores?
"Oi, Old Ron, is my gun already fixed?" A female Halfling whose ginger brown hair was tied into two braids came walking to them.
The old man named Ron picked up a thing from the shabby stall and threw it to the female halfling. "That’ll be five basic energy crystals."
The female Halfling caught the gun, reached for her pockets, and handed her five golden crystals, each the size of a fingernail.
Ron took the crystals.
Li Chunhua’s eyes widened because the crystals in the Old Halfling’s palm were full of qi!
