Chapter 289: Recruiting

The talk about the unusual event happening in Area No. 3 reached the Global Chat. At least a fourth of the area was unable to be accessed for now.

Some of the players situated near the Deathly Hallows were also scalded by geysers and obtained burn injuries.

A percentage of the bullet screens in the global chat were players asking how to treat burns or if someone was selling any burn or healing medicines. Most of these individuals, unfortunately, didn’t have any priests among their residents or team members to heal and cure their wounds.

Grandpa Chen, the Trade Department Leader of Riveting Winds, the player with the IGN Geek, and some other players who had knowledge about the topic disclosed some information and hung their goods.

Green Thumb: The gel and leaves of an Aloe Vera plant, a pot of Marigold as ointment or tea, and the resin used by bees to create their hives are good for burns.

The Geek: Upstairs is right. It can also prevent infections, which is the main problem and the one that raises the possibility of death.

The players read the free information and foraged the surroundings of the mentioned plants, while those who didn’t want to go out posted the request.

This resulted in another business, and those that were luckily able to acquire the plants bagged supplies.

Scarlet Tempest, upon learning of the matter, quickly let the man exchange the bandages blessed by their natives, exchanging them for basic resources, food items, water, and gear. Since the population of her territory had gone up, their supplies were dwindling.

[Scarlet Tempest]: My territory is selling [Basic Bandages—Copper Quality] that raises 10 points for 40 units of resources, 5 kg of food, 3 gallons of drinkable water, and 1 bronze quality gear. If you have any rare goods, just contact my representative: ’I’m a serious businessman’.

Player Hua saw a business opportunity and inquired about Baozi, but sadly, she found out she couldn’t send the other side a message, and the accumulated lime stones she bought were returned by the system.

Since this had happened before, she wasn’t too worried and only waited for Baozi to be available again.

The players in the salted fish who had bandages saw these and reported them to the elf.

Because the Aunties were tirelessly leveling up their tailoring skills, they sewed a lot of bandages. The salted fish had gold-grade quality gear with insane DEF and 400% recovery effects, but they seldom used it. Thus, the supplies were greater than the demands.

Except for the three brothers, the others still had spares.

"You have the right to sell your bandages, provided that you do not divulge their source," Siri responded. Since the bandages only had the names of those who made them and didn’t include the name of the territory, trading was relatively safe.

The salted fish traded a small portion for the stuff they didn’t have, but not all, in case something happened in the middle.

[Main Game Planet: Time: 4:04 p.m.]

The remaining monsters near the river of the Bleakmaw Lagoon, who luckily survived the Giant Glysophod’s gluttonous tentacle fishing, had to migrate elsewhere due to the place being inhabitable.

Most of them had poison and water attributes, and their resistance to the fire element was low. Therefore, those groups lurking on the edge of the woods who wanted to explore were attacked, and this included the salted fish.

Though fighting the monsters didn’t pose a threat to them, the refugees and prisoners sustained injuries from the stray attacks.

Siri saw a lot of them acquire poisoned, bleeding, and heavily injured de-buffs.

"Let’s stop first. Those with healing skills, treat them first." He spoke.

Healers are a non-combatant class, and in a world full of danger, only a few of them choose this class. Among the survivors, only five stood up and began healing.

The injured prisoners, with their tied mouths, were letting out muffled curses and sending deathly glares to Siri and Co.

The injuries on the refugees’ side were not grave because their movements weren’t restricted, allowing them to dodge the monsters’ attacks.

Elga didn’t like the gazes sent at her and showed her axe. "Shut up or I’ll chop your eggs off." This made the prisoners stiffen, and they lowered their eyes.

"Hey, are you really sure you’ll be able to use them? Because just from their stares alone, I could tell they had already killed us a thousand times in their minds." Elga spoke towards the Elf in a secluded corner while eyeing the prisoners.

Several pairs of eyes were also looking in their direction, guessing the topic of their private conversation, and surprisingly, some of them were from the refugees’ side.

Siri could detect them.

"The territory needs population and labor force. We cannot do all the things we wanted with just a few of us. Additionally, don’t have a biased viewpoint; not all the refugees are good of character. For me, enemies who hide their intentions well are scarier than the robbers who rob us openly." Siri responded with nonchalance.

Thinking of this problem, Siri called Cui over.

Elga huffed. Even though the argument brought forth by the elf made sense, she was still against it. She was like Li Chunhua, who didn’t like to deal with trouble.

Among the survivors, a man wearing a university uniform under his copper-quality vest was talking to the other survivors, pretending to listen to their discussion and hiding his prying intention.

[Private Kai]: Have you found out from what territory they are? How many of them are there? Once you do the job well, I’ll free your brother.

Bottling his anger, the man secretly closed the tab and listened. He was originally a refugee too, but he joined the wrong territory, was reduced to a slave, and implicated his only brother.

"I wonder when we’ll be able to rest. My legs are tired from walking."

"I’m hungry too. Do any of you have food?" A middle-aged woman with a healer class asked amiably while licking her parched lips. She came with another group of Weekly Tide’s survivors and luckily encountered Siri’s group. Healing the injured person sapped her remaining strength.

Unfortunately, most of the rescued players and natives had little to no resources or were hoarding their supplies.

The young male student rummaged his inventory and was about to give the package of bread to the middle-aged woman when some of the women and men wearing gold-grade gear set a table in the middle of the large clearing and announced something.

"We are selling a bottle of water for 15 copper coins, one packet of biscuits for 20 copper coins, 1 pack of noodles for 25 coins, one 250g loaf of bread for 30 copper coins, and canned ham for 50 coins. For those who want to buy hot water for soaking the noodles, you can ask Yuan’er. It’s just for 8 coins." Cui pointed towards the Salted Fish Mage holding a staff.

"First come, first served," Yuan’er said before taking a large pot for boiling water. Ge’er poured a barrel of water into it, and Yuan’er threw firewood before casting a fireball skill.

Every refugee and even the prisoners were shocked. Are their ears playing tricks on them? These people are selling food and water for cheap copper coins, not gear or other resources.
