Chapter 121: Grocery Trip
Chapter 121: Grocery Trip
On the farm, Li Chunhua had to bid the elf goodbye for her grocery trip.
Long Haoran was waiting at the threshold of the fence’s entrance while suspiciously observing the tall trees surrounding the gang leader’s territory, wondering why it had turned into a forest all of a sudden.
He had only rested for a few hours, and this much had changed.
[You’ve received a message from your friend, Great Romantic Sage.]
Long Haoran glanced at the direction in which his gang leader headed. The chumpet crop had been bugging his mind, as well as those massive supplies. As an outsider with a huge debt and his hopeless career as a life-employed cook, he was sensible not to ask, but he needed to confirm some things.
[Great Romantic Sage]: Brother, I’ve grown molds waiting for your reply. You always left me hanging.
Long Zurui grumpily spoke.
[Dumpling Duke]: Did any of the players in the global chat mention Chumpet?
[Great Romantic Sage]: Chumpet? What’s that?
Through his brother’s response, Long Haoran logged on to the trade market and entered the keyword ’chumpet’, but there were no search results. The slits of his eyes were slightly narrowed.
[Dumpling Duke]: From the time you were unable to contact me to the moment I replied to you, was there any major event that had happened?
[Great Romantic Sage]: An important event? I do have a few. I’m now at Level 3, my natives are at Level 2, and I have completed building one facility.
[Dumpling Duke]: Something more important than that...
[Great Romantic Sage]: Oh, I know a little about gardening now, and in seven days, I will have vegetables on my table.
[Dumpling Duke]: Not about you...
[Great Romantic Sage]: ಥ_ಥ What do you mean? I’m not the most important thing in your heart anymore. Did you and that chick from a few minutes ago get together behind my back?
Long Zurui used a tone full of grievance, as if he were the legal wife who caught her husband cheating with a little three.
(A/N: Little Three—Chinese slang for mistress)
Long Haoran’s eyes darkened.
[Dumpling Duke]: Copper coins...
Long Zurui stiffened and ceased spouting nonsense.
[Great Romantic Sage]: He, he. I’m just joking. There is, actually. Half an hour from noon, there was a global announcement about someone clearing a dungeon, which I surmised would be you. Wait, brother, clearing a dungeon should have rewards. Check your mail. or inventory, or stats
Raising his sharp brows, Long Haoran checked his stats first, and he saw the additional titles.
[Dungeon Pioneer
-Increase the player’s basic stats by 2%, and the player’s attacks will incur additional 5% damage to dungeon monsters.]
[Brave Lone Dungeon Challenger]
-Awarded to an insane player who courageously and unwisely challenged the nightmare difficulty dungeon alone and successfully cleared it. Possessing the title will allow the player to gain an additional 10% of preparation time before facing each wave.]
Long Haoran: "..." He clearly remembers that there was no consent involved before he was thrust inside, but how did he clear it?
Knowing his question would not be answered, Long Haoran proceeded to inspect according to his game-addict brother’s instructions.
Apart from the titles, he had Earth Points of 1500 and two gold chests. He shared his findings with his brother, and Long Zurui, the parasite, instantly urged his brother to open them, planning to cut some leeks.
(A/N: Cut some Leeks- Chinese slang for taking advantage or scamming people)
[Dumpling Duke]: Later. Beside the dungeon’s announcement, is there anything else?
He was outside, and he might attract unnecessary attention because of the chest.
Long Zurui was disappointed, but he didn’t insist any further.
[Great Romantic Sage]: Yes, it’s about the Anonymous Player and the Secret Realm...
Long Haoran listened to his brother’s narration of a certain player’s crazy achievements and rich rewards. As well, the system’s encouraging them to enter the realm.
[Great Romantic Sage]: Brother, how about...
[Dumpling Duke]: Don’t go.
Long Haoran disagreed way before his brother finished his question. He doesn’t want his brother to be in that kind of dangerous place at all.
---
Two of the 4x2 fields were now thriving with small green sprouts. The Elf was currently making garden sleepers out of tree branches to divide the space between the crops, and while occasionally reading the notes on the paper, he scribbled down notes from Player ’Green Thumb’ placed on his lap.
One could easily tell his passion for gardening based on the smile plastered on his lips, despite his white sleeves, soles of his leather shoes, and forehead stained with mud from the newly watered soil.
"Brother Siri, I need to accompany Chef Long Guy on an important trip. The territory shall be left under your care while I’m gone." Li Chunhua spoke as she walked toward the elf.
"Master, where are you going?" Siri inquired worriedly. He removed the gloves from his hand.
Li Chunhua responded in all seriousness, "I’m doing an important thing down the mountain."
An important thing?
Is there some trouble? Could it be so life-threatening that his master needed to personally solve it?
Siri was suddenly nervous. "Master, you may encounter a lot of monsters. What if you..." The rest of the question was clogged in his throat after remembering his master’s abnormal strength.
Wait, what is he worried about when he should pity those newbie monsters instead?
"Master, be careful on your way." Siri changed his words.
"I will come back before dinner." Li Chunhua nodded and headed towards the entrance of the fence, where her lackey chef was waiting for her.
----
"Let’s go!" Li Chunhua reached her lackey chef’s side and gently patted his shoulders.
Long Haoran’s eyes flashed with an unknown light, recalling what his brother had said. He carefully probed, "Leader, the trumpet-shaped vegetable from before, where did you pick it up? Did you have any stock left? If not, how about we go looking for some along the way?"
The chumpet?
Li Chunhua’s eyes became dodgy.
"I got them from a very special place...I’ll check later if I have some stock."
Although Li Chunhua replied vaguely, it was enough for Long Haoran to confirm some points. Surprisingly, this gang leader was stronger than she looked. The edge of his lips was curled a little and his eyes were slightly glowing.
(Little Baozi: Thank you for the lovely gift dearies, HanaHime, LotusLin, and sweetpea. (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ))
