Chapter 120: She’s a Peace-loving Person

Li Chunhua ultimately gave up after failing to understand a single thing.

She reckoned it must have been included in the box by mistake. She just hoped it was nothing important, such as a grocery shopping list or food recipes. Otherwise, Li Chunhua’s heart would be stuffed with guilt.

Setting aside the handwritten letter, she examined the stone.

It seemed the red thread Gong Panli weaved was cut even before it reached the foodie’s heart.

Poor guy. If people were able to hear his love story, they would sympathize as well.

The egg-shaped stone was just the length of Li Chunhua’s thumb and was emitting glowing particles in shades of green, red, and gold.

[World Fragment (Hallow City) Grade: Null]

A world fragment?

She skimmed her memory and the original owner’s trying to find a matching item, but there was none.

Li Chunhua observed the stone on her hand more closely, trying to find something special in it, but apart from being able to provide faint, colorful light, there was nothing more unusual.

----

In the Metropolitan Base’s office, Gong Shangguan remembered the mahogany box and carefully inquired with his son in the middle of reviewing some documents, sitting at the adjacent desk.

After the defeat of the monsters, in the following weeks, 90% of the ability users left Metropolitan Base, and the latter had to solve numerous cases of ability users forming their organizations, establishing their own governments, and implementing their policies and orders, just as Siri had predicted.

The remaining 10% either went back to their hometowns or continued their services in the armies and other departments of the base.

The abandoned city was occupied by different gangs along with supplies, with each claiming a part of the land. Chaos further ensued when gangs decided to expand their territories.

War and killings had become a normal everyday occurrence, and it affected the Metropolitan Base because of the lack of supplies and raw materials to start commodity production. Gong Shangguan and the other department heads had to send teams to the abandoned city for the raw materials, but the convoys were attacked and people were captured.

Gong Shangguan was instantly embroiled in the mess and had to take measures to deter further attacks. This ultimately led to the base being targeted by the gang’s joint forces.

It was sad to see that even though they had survived the calamity, greed and desire for power had put them in another boiling cauldron.

Due to the base’s ammunition being emptied from the undead tide, the other side’s strength was greater, and Shangguan’s aim to lessen the number of casualties put the Metropolitan base at a disadvantage, and not long after it was besieged.

Shangguan did his best but still failed to protect humanity’s last hope for peaceful coexistence, but when he thought it was the end, something unimaginable happened.

The sky rained pots and other things. He still vividly remembered the memory as if it were yesterday.

Thousands of figures, big and small, with bulging arms and dressed in floral soft cotton dresses and tang suits, armed with woks and ladles, rushed forth and assisted their sides, effortlessly penetrating the other sides’ defenses, and started their aggressive counterattack.

The battlefield was filled with the gang members’ wailings and requests for mercy in just a few minutes.

If not for their stature, wrinkly skin, and white hair, Shangguan would have thought they were also part of the gangs because of their drastic changes.

The screeching noise interrupted his reminiscing.

A shirtless grandpa whose abdomen was jam-packed with abs stepped inside the room while carrying two large boxes of documents on both of his shoulders. "Mayor Gong, where do I place these?"

ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

"Just beside the door." It took a few seconds for Shangguan to respond.

The muscled grandpa put the boxes down before going out of the room.

Gong Panli withdrew his attention from the papers. The memories of his deceased mother sprang into his mind. His lips parted. "Mom said that if I ever find a girl I like, I should give it to her."

Gong Shangguan’s eyes flashed as someone’s face came to his mind, but he didn’t ask any questions and resumed his work, drowning in the memories of the past.

Gong Panli’s table was near the window, and he could clearly see three four-meter gray stone monuments being built in tribute to the three heroes who made the most contribution during the Code 3 Undead Tide.

On the first monument was a dog sticking its tongue. On the second one, there was an old woman in a floral dress with her arms crossed over her chest, wearing a smug look.

And on the last one was a lady whose hair was spike-like, resembling a reverse cascading waterfall, and her right knuckle was fisted high up in the air.

Gong Panli rested his chin on his right palm before sighing, admiring the view from afar.

----

There was no additional description whatsoever. She will need Brother Siri’s help later, but the perplexing thought was: Why did Gentleman Gong give this to her? Could it be because he remembers there was no electricity and she needed something to light their house?

That must be it!

That’s so thoughtful of him!

Li Chunhua thanked Gong Panli’s kind intentions in her heart.

She was not the type to deeply ponder things unless they were related to food. She stored the stone and returned to the opening of the chests.

The remaining 289 chests accounted for 34 bronze-grade, 67 silver-grade, and 188 gold-grade.

She started with the bronze chest and opened 10 of them, with a second interval in between.

[You’ve got a can of vegetable oil (250 ml).]

[You’ve got a 4-in-1 box of sugar-glazed muffins with raisins.]

[You’ve got a dozen eggs.]

[You got a bundle of leeks.]

The living room was soon filled with mountains of things.

[You’ve got a pack of brown sugar (1kg).]

[You’ve got a pair of brand new sneakers.]

[You’ve got a grill blueprint.]

Li Chunhua’s eyes sparkled.

A grill?

Maybe she could enjoy barbeque tonight!

She looked at the necessary materials to manufacture the grill.

[Traditional Grill

[Necessary Materials: 2 units of metal block, 10 units of stones.]

Does the player wish to spend 2 units of metal block and 10 units of stones to manufacture a traditional grill? ]

Li Chunhua tapped yes, and a one-meter-tall grill appeared on her left. She wasted no time, sprang to her feet, and barged into the basic hut residence where Long Haoran was resting.

"I want a barbecue tonight!" Li Chunhua demanded as a variety of barbecue dishes entered her mind.

(ˉ﹃ˉ)

Long Haoran was in the middle of conversing with his brother, and when Long Zurui heard a cute female’s voice, he was surprised.

[Great Romantic Sage]: Brother, there’s a female in your gang? What does she look like? Does she have a beard? Is she a true female?

Long Haoran’s eyelid twitched at Li Chunhua’s order, and he replied. "There’s no meat." This gang leader always likes to dream, even when the sun is still up and when her eyes are opened.

The dishes in Li Chunhua’s mind puffed into smoke.

(´._.`)

No meat?

No meat?

The two words repeated in her mind, deflating her instantly. Indeed, there was no meat. Even the secret realm’s chests didn’t give a single pound.

She suddenly realized an important problem. She had a farm as a source for vegetables, but she had no livestock, which means her meals in the future will revolve around vegetables.

For some reason, the monks in the monastery appeared in her head.

( ̄_ ̄|||)

This can’t be done! Little Baozi won’t stay sane if there is no meat, even for just one week!

Li Chunhua walked to the door, and when she was on the threshold, her lackey chef spoke, which made her do a smooth moonwalk to return to her previous spot. Her eyes bore holes in Long Haoran’s face.

"But I know where to get meat." Long Haoran recalled the Horned Viper Boss he encountered. Although it was not high-quality meat, it was suitable for grilling.

"Where?" The foodie’s eyes burn brightly from his statement, only to be extinguished by the man’s next word.

"There’s a boss near my territory. Maybe his relatives are nearby." Long Haoran replied pondering on how to scam the gang leader into allowing him home.

A boss? Li Chunhua choked.

(ˉ▽ˉ ;)...

Never mind. She’s a peace-loving person.

The depressed foodie resumed her death march suffering in the torment of a possible meat-less life, only to execute a moonwalk the second time, a few moments later after the man made another statement.

"The boss’ meat is perfect for grilling. Its meat has high-fat contents and is tender. The texture and taste are smoky, juicy, flavorful..." Long Haoran recounted.

A certain someone’s mouth was pooled with water.

ԅ(¯﹃¯ԅ)

Li Chunhua, the peace-loving person who doesn’t want troublesome things, replied immediately, "Let’s kill it!"

A certain self proclaimed Shifu said that ’Food is more important than inner peace. Without food, one won’t have peace’.

Long Haoran’s ocean blue eyes flickered with a slight surprise. He was prepared to lengthy persuasion but he never knew it would be this easy.

ಠ_ಠ Is this some kind of test? He had doubts.
