Chapter 98: Ch 98: Have a nice day - Part 1
Daniel returned home in high spirits. He had finished his work early, and now he looked forward to enjoying some quality time with his family....or he would have been able to, but Sharon’s mood was bad.
He looked down at this store-cooked meal before he sighed and looked at Sharon. It was time for him to use his coaxing skills and ease his lover’s mind.
"Sharon, what is wrong with you? Is the food not to your liking? Do you need anything else? Tell me, and I will get you whatever you want." ’...within reasons, of course!’
The last part remained inside Daniel’s head as he spoke, but he had made his case quite clear to Sharon. He wanted to ask her what happened, but he felt too afraid of touching a sour spot.
Luckily for him, Sharon told him what upset her on her own.
"Daniel, would you find it unfair if someone who lived with you ended up hoarding groceries when they needed to share with everyone? Don’t you think Anabella is being too much?
She bought all those groceries but won’t share them with us now. I felt humiliated when I opened the fridge and found nothing I could use inside. I had to order out because of this."
Sharon complained, and now it became obvious why the meal in front of him was store-cooked.
Daniel did not see why this was a huge point, and he was idiotic enough also to say these words out loud.
"Weren’t you home the whole day, Sharon? You could have gone grocery shopping and bought back what you needed. It’s not like you lack money or time for it.... I apologize. I was out of line just now."
Daniel quickly retracted his suggestion as soon as he noticed the sour expression on Sharon’s face. He realized that he made a mistake by speaking about this topic.
Sharon’s face looked flaming, and she even regretted speaking out aloud. Her pheromones betrayed how angry she was, and Daniel knew he had to soothe her anger.
"H-Hey, don’t be so angry, Sharon! Come on! It’s fine. Misunderstandings like these happen. And I guess it’s not bad to eat outside food occasionally?"
Daniel tried to make Sharon feel less angry at him, but the female looked more and more agitated each second. Finally, she took a deep breath before she rubbed her forehead and spoke loudly.
"You just don’t understand how I felt then, Daniel! I was sure we had groceries when the guard brought them up, but I had none. It would be best if you talked to Anabella about being a part of this family and contributing to it. How can she do this to me?"
Sharon asked, and Daniel quickly fell quiet.
He had a feeling that Sharon was treating Anabella as his younger sister or something, but she could not be more wrong. Her instincts saw this situation as she wanted to see it, not as it was.
Daniel realized this quickly, but he would not be the one to tell Sharon that she was being too much.
Instead, he decided to keep quiet and give in to her momentarily.
"Alright, I get it. I will talk to Anabella about it and ensure she cooperates with you. Now, would you stop pouting and eat? I don’t like to see you suffering like this."
Daniel asked, and Sharon finally took a bite out of her food. It was not much, but it was something. And for now, that mattered a lot to Daniel.
He watched as the female finished her food before he walked out of the room and decided to confront Anabella.
As far as he knew, he had frozen her bank account and never unfrozen it. So it surprised him that she could afford groceries and bring them home. It made him want to ask Anabella how she did it.
When he entered her section of the house, he immediately recoiled at the strong scent it emitted. It was as if he were smothered in a cozy, nice Omega scent. Daniel wanted to close his eyes and bury himself in this scent.
But he controlled himself and kept walking until he reached Anabella’s room.
He could instinctively tell that she was in there and having dinner. The aroma of a home-cooked meal did not shy away from his nose, and Daniel felt his mouth water before he gulped his saliva down and entered the room.
"Anabella, we need to talk. Sharon told me about something, and I need to clear the air with you. Do you have time to talk to me?"
Daniel asked in a clear voice, but Anabella did not seem happy to be in his presence. She quickly turned away from him and went back to work. Her unhappy eyes made Daniel feel like he had committed a crime.
But he knew he was in the right here, and he did not need to back down. So he pushed his back straight and entered the room without permission.
The pheromones in the air around him soured before they flashed in warning. They asked Daniel to avoid the female before him and not cause her trouble.
"What do you want? As you can see, I am busy and doing my best to leave you alone. If you have a problem, then go somewhere else. Do not disturb me like you are doing at the moment."
Anabella spoke harshly as she pushed her face to show her displeasure.
Having an omega repel him this harshly hurt Daniel, but he also felt he needed to respect her. He unconsciously walked out of the door before realizing what he was doing, and he stepped forward to make himself look more intimidating than usual.
Anabella noticed the alpha, but she did not say anything. Instead of giving him a reply, she just sighed and went back to her food.
Daniel, now beyond pissed, decided to assert his dominance even more.
"Anabella, where did you get the money to buy all these ingredients? As far as I remember, I froze all your accounts and left you with nothing. Just what did you do to get all this money?"
