Chapter 91: Ch 91: Don’t have a face left - Part 3

Anabella breathed a sigh of relief as she was handed the wristband over without much trouble.

No one asked her unnecessary questions, but more importantly, no one asked her to pay any money. She was a V.I.P of this place before she knew it.

"This is the highest level access in our arcade. You can play on any machine and get any food item by scanning the QR code. Please, don’t feel restricted by your choices, and have fun."

The manager assured the pair while smiling at them from his place in front of them.

His smiling face unnerved Anabella. Whenever she looked at the manager, she felt like that man could see right through her. His eyes said he knew something about Anabella that she did not even realize about herself, making her feel creeped out.

Seeing how she behaved as if a little scared, Noah positioned himself in front of Anabella before he coughed to hide his irritation.

"If this is all, then you may leave us now. I need to talk to Bella about some things, and I do not need you around."

Noah assured the manager, and it was the manager’s cue to disappear.

Seeing how Noah had dismissed him, Anabella expected the manager to run out of there and never be seen again. But she was surprised that the manager seemed to take his sweet time before leaving.

His eyes looked interested, making Anabella feel odd in the pit of her stomach.

"Of course, Sir. I shall leave you alone now. I will send refreshments your way in a short while, so enjoy them."

The manager left at a pace that could only be described as painfully slow. The longer he took to go, the more agitated Noah looked.

One look at her friend was enough for Anabella to tell that Noah knew why the manager behaved the way he did.

But Anabella’s instincts told her that she should not ask this question to the alpha if she was not ready to face the answer.

And she was very well not ready to face the answer.

*Sigh*

"I don’t like where this is going. If possible, I would like to head back now. But I promised you a fun time and will keep my promise. Shall we start with the first game?"

Noah asked as he pointed toward a game Anabella had never played before. It was a one-on-one game, so she got on the other side of the console and waited for Noah to take his place.

It was a fun game, even if Anabella lost quite badly. Noah had no mercy for even a friend like her and seemed to take this seriously.

Anabella could officially say that she was having fun. And that was when Noah decided to propose a bet.

He walked over to a game machine Anabella used to be great at, patting the empty seat for her to take.

"How about we have a bet, Bella? The winner would have to grant the loser a wish of their choice anytime they want. Do you think you are up for it?"

Noah asked teasingly, but somehow, Anabella doubted that he was joking about asking her for a wish.

There was something in Noah’s voice that made alarms ring in the omega’s mind and told her not to take this bet.

And yet, despite Anabella’s better judgment, she agreed with the alpha before her.

She could not help it, either. How could she ever say no to Noah when he looked at her intensely, asking for her understanding? She could not, and this was the result.

Anabella went first and pulled herself to her place before starting the game.

It started poorly since Anabell was rusty and had forgotten the controls. But she made a comeback (her muscle memory jumped in) and scored decent.

She did not hit the high score, nor was it her personal best either. She was sure that the alpha in front of her would easily be able to beat her score.

Just as Noah started his round, someone approached them and placed a tray filled with drinks and snacks near them.

Anabella noticed that the manager had come over to give them these gifts as he had said he would minutes before.

"Miss, please enjoy these treats and tell me if you need more. I am always willing to offer you more."

The manager reached to put his hand on Anabella’s shoulder as he spoke these words. He was a beta, so he did not smell the way Anabella’s scent soured at this unwanted touch.

She wanted to slap that man’s hand away, but she felt awkward about doing that, especially when she knew that this man had no romantic interest in her.

"I see! Thank you for your offer. I will enjoy these snacks since you brought them to me with so much care."

Anabella forced her face to smile, but she was ready to curse in her mind. What she did not do, Noah ended up doing.

He gave up on his game before he walked over to Anabella and the manager. He grabbed the manager’s hand to force it away from Anabella’s shoulder.

"Excuse me, but can’t you see that you are making my friend uncomfortable? I would prefer it if you kept your hand away from my friend. Otherwise, we might have a problem among us soon."

Noah spoke harshly, and even his eyes looked ready to kill the manager where he stood.

Anabella noticed fear flash across the man’s eyes in front of her before he steadied himself and decided to keep his cool.

"Of course, sir! When you interrupted me, I was about to remove my hand from the miss. I won’t take much of your time now. Have a nice time, and call me if you need anything."

The manager insisted before he finally left. But the relief Anabella should have felt did not come her way. If anything, she felt even more awkward now.
