Chapter 65: Ch 65: Deep Sleep - Part 1
The teacher looked at Anabella with an almost hopeful expression before she caught what she was doing and quickly backed off with a nervous laugh.
"Hahaha, please forgive me for the way I acted with you. This was not my intent. I was just feeling nervous since a big incident almost happened yesterday....
Please, don’t feel burdened by it all, and have a pleasant trip back."
The lady spoke softly, and Anabella gave her a last look of concern before she left the school and returned home.
As much as she wanted to follow Noah to his work and escape reality, she had a home to return to and a husband to speak to.
Knowing Daniel, he would be pissed off, and he would also find a way to blame Anabella for what happened.
She knew what would happen but still walked into the place she dreaded and braced herself.
"Do you want me to come up with you? I can act as your support if you want me to."
Noah asked in a worried voice. He could see Anabella lightly shaking, and her face looked paler than before.
It made him worry for the poor female, but Anabella’s smile assured him she was fine.
"It’s alright. I can face my husband without much issue. You should take care to head to your work. And also, you should hurry up, or Clair will be late for her work."
Anabella used Clair as an excuse, but the alpha quickly pushed her head out and assured Anabella that work was not her priority.
"Those people would manage without me for some time. If you need me to be with you, then tell me. I don’t feel comfortable leaving you all alone like this. It makes me feel worried for some reason."
Clair’s voice sounded certain, and her confidence made Anabella feel speechless.
She knew she needed to tell the alpha pair that she was fine and that they did not need to be with her. But in reality, Anabella did not feel fine. She felt like she needed someone else with her.
’I have no courage to enter this house and face my husband. But it would be even worse to ask for help and drag these people into my problem. They had been helpful toward me, and I want to keep my memories of them pure.’
Anabella was a selfish omega who only wanted to show her best side to those she liked.
She had already made more than her fair share of mistakes and did not want this to continue.
As a result, she forced a smile on her face, and her eyes looked a little moist when she looked at her friends.
"It’s fine. This is my home, and I know how to handle Daniel. I will be just fine."
Anabella assured the alpha pair, but they still did not look convinced. In the end, they did not try to force Anabella to come with them when they left.
The omega forced a smile on her face this whole time, but it quickly faded as she entered the home and saw her husband sitting on the living room sofa waiting for her.
Her first action was to ignore the alpha and head to her room. She wanted nothing to do with her husband and his tyrannical mood.
But as soon as she took one step up the stairs, her husband made it clear that he wanted to talk, and he wouldn’t let Anabella leave until they had their talk.
"Sit down right now, and let’s discuss what happened. You do realize that I am angry at you, and why am I angry at you?"
The man asked. Anabella wanted to pretend she did not know. But she could not escape Daniel’s glare despite her hopes of getting by.
Anabella sighed before settling in front of her husband with a nod.
"Well, I have an idea as to why I am being detained. But I don’t see what it has to do with me. I vouched for Sharon’s identity before I took James home. It is not my fault those people wanted me to pay the bail, and I did not have money."
Anabella assured her husband and waited for him to yell at her.
She waited and waited...but nothing happened. Daniel was not yelling at her or calling her names.
’Is this a miracle? Who is that possible? What did I do to make this miracle happen?
Anabella opened her eyes to see her husband’s complicated face. The alpha looked like he had swallowed a lemon as he looked at Anabella’s scared face and sour pheromonal scent.
"Tsk, I am not threatening you. I just wanted to clear the air and ensure what happened was not your fault. Now that we are finished, you should leave now."
Daniel pointed toward the stairs, and Anabella made a quick escape.
She looked at her husband one last time to ensure he wouldn’t try to cause her trouble. But once it was certain he wouldn’t be coming after her, Anabella quickly dashed to her room and slammed her door shut.
Her heart thundered in her chest as she tried to calm it down. Finally, she could escape her husband and felt accomplished when she reached her room.
Anabella was not tired, but she felt sleep claiming her as soon as she closed her eyes.
When she opened her eyes, it was because someone opened the door to check up on her. That person was gone before Anabella had enough awareness to check who it was.
She made her way down around dinnertime, and the timing made her frown.
"I slept the whole day away? How is that possible? The last thing I remember is feeling tired and then closing my eyes. I should not have been asleep for this long."
Anabella knew that her sleep schedule was fucked. But she did not realize just how fucked it was until this moment. How could she not have any recollection of what happened?
