Chapter 64: Ch 64: Please, stay the night - Part 4
Anabella had spent the better part of the night twisting and turning, unable to fall asleep. As a result, she felt tired and unwilling to move in the morning.
But she needed to move and get things done. As she walked into the living room, she quickly grabbed the coffee and did not have time to think of anything else.
All the omegas and beta from the day before started to wake up around this time, but they all looked post-drunk and annoyed.
Anabella quietly made her way around them, grabbed some coffee, drank it all in one gulp, and ran away before anyone could ask her for more.
The annoyed glances she got behind her back told her that no one was happy with her presence, but they were willing to tolerate her to some degree.... not that Anabella had time to think about it.
"James, I know you are tired but must wake up. I will take you to school, so take a bath and change into these clothes."
Anabella understood this apartment well and where the stuff was placed.
This was her first time coming here, but somehow, this place did not feel foreign to her. It almost felt as if she had been here a thousand times before.
’It must be because I have been around Noah and Clair too much. It makes me well aware of their habits and how they organize things.’
Anabella took five minutes to find the clothes Noah had been talking about last night. She placed them near James and urged the kid to shower and get ready.
Every moment James made felt mechanical, but the young alpha finally snapped out of his daze when Anabella pushed him into the bathroom.
She motioned to follow the kid to ensure that he wouldn’t get hurt, but James’s face reddened, and he slammed the door in front of Anabella’s face to keep her out.
"Don’t try to come in. I can wash myself just fine."
Young or not, James was still an alpha. His instincts protested at the thought of letting an unknown omega near him when he was without clothes.
Anabella waited for the kid in the room before she hurried him even more.
When she made her way out, she was ready to ask someone for spare cash to take James to his school and drop the kid off.
Clair and Noah had offered her a ride, but the alpha pair was still asleep. And Anabella had no heart to wake them up and remind them what they promised her.
However, by a twist of fate, she did not need to do that.
When she walked out into the dining room with James the second time, Noah and Clair were awake and drinking coffee. Other betas and omegas were nowhere to be found, indicating they had all been sent home.
"Huh? When did you both get ready? I did not even see you leaving the room."
The question left Anabella’s mouth before she could stop it. She had not meant to ask this question but ended up asking it anyway.
It made the alpha pair in front of her look at her with an amused expression.
"Well, we have our mysterious alpha ways. We also sent everyone back since we must take you on the drive to school and then head to work. If you don’t want to head back home, you can accompany one of us to our destinations. We won’t mind."
Noah asked as he picked up the keys and walked out first. It was clear who the designated driver for the day was.
Anabella felt her stomach flutter, but she ignored it and focused on what was happening around her.
James clutched her clothes in a way that showed he was uncomfortable, but he did not want to show it. Anabella sighed before grabbing the kid’s hand and taking the offered ride.
"We should head out now. James’ school will call any later than this to ask why we are late bringing him in. I would rather not attend a call like that if I can help."
Anabella’s heart skipped a beat when she spoke to the alpha pair. She felt nervous, and her tongue felt dry at the same time.
She had dared to spend a night outside like this and had no idea how to calm her racing heart.
James, who stood beside her, must have heard what her heart was doing. But the young alpha was sensible enough not to speak up about it.
"We should head out now. I must get to work early since I have a full day shift. Noah, spend some time with Anabella in my stead and make sure she has fun. Your definition of ’fun’ is much different than normal, so I don’t want you to think everyone likes what you do."
Clair reminded her partner before she headed out first. Noah waited for Anabella and James to head out first, then closed the door behind them and quickly started the car.
James’s class teacher had a flushed face when she came out to take James from Anabella. She also looked scared and crestfallen at something, which made Anabella sigh.
"I will take James from here, Madam Ross. I hope you have a nice day."
The teacher’s appearance suggested she was being sacrificed for some greater good and had no choice but to follow what she was told.
In reality, the most that would happen to her was that she would be fired from her job and have to seek a new one soon.
’I wish I could help you, but I am in a precarious situation. Poor teacher, she was doing her job seriously, and now she might get laid off. The world is unfair, and you never know what could happen.’
Anabella’s heart felt sorry for the teacher, but she had no power to be able to help her out.
But there was nothing she could do to help the lady.
