Chapter 66: Ch 66: Deep Sleep - Part 2
"How could they do this to me? I understand, Anabella, but even James? I considered him my son and gave him all the love and attention he needed; this is how he repays me. Oh, Daniel, I feel devastated!"
Sharon cried when she reached home and threw herself into Daniel’s arms. She was angry, annoyed, upset, and sad at the same time.
Her emotions were all over the place, which caused her to gasp and try to catch her breath.
But despite her emotional state, she was far more regulated than most people in her circumstances would be.
"It will be fine, Sharon. You are out of jail, and I bailed you out. I will make sure any strain it has on your past is removed. No one would know what happened or why you went to jail."
Daniel promised his lover as he held her face gently in his hands and made her look his way.
Sharon tried to hold her tears back, but they kept coming harder and harder.
At this point, she was not even trying to act. She felt genuinely distressed about what happened and how James had frozen when introducing her as his mother.
"Daniel, James called me a ’mother figure’ and not a mother. D-Does he not like me anymore? Am I not his mother anymore? What did I do wrong? Should I ask James what he thinks about me now?"
Sharon asked, and she was becoming more uncontrollable by the second.
Daniel could only sigh as he held her close and decided to speak up to make Sharon feel better.
"That is not the case at all, Sharon. Daniel loves and respects you, but he always wants to keep calling you a mother. I am sure he had reasons for acting like he did. I will talk to him about it. Now, calm down. Anabella would be home any second, and I am sure you do not want her to see you crying."
Sharon stopped crying at the mention of Anabella.
Red-hot hatred, as well as agitation, filled her body at the name of another omega coming out of her lover’s mouth.
"Don’t speak that name in front of me ever again. I tolerate Anabella because you married her, and you cannot divorce her for now. But we will throw her out as soon as you can do that.
I am your lover, and I want the world to know about it-"
Sharon spoke these words right before the front door slammed open, and Anabella entered.
It did not seem as if Anabella had heard a word Sharon had said about her, but even if she had, Sharon was not ashamed of what she said.
Instead, it fell on Daniel’s shoulder to do the damage control, and he tried to do it...only for Anabella to blow him off and head back to her room.
That was awkward but did not top James’s return or dinner.
Everyone wanted to discuss what happened, but no one dared.
In the end, James was the first one who spoke up.
"Mother, I apologize for not defending you when my teacher questioned me. I panicked, and I reacted without thinking. I know it hurt you, and I apologize for that."
James not only sounded sorry, but he also looked sorry. His eyes looked at his mother in a way that begged her not to be angry with him.
It made Anabella feel sorry for her son, and she decided to forgive him this time.
"Alright, I understand that you have repented your mistake and are ready to take a step in the right direction. Since that is the case, I will not ask you any more questions, and I also agree to forgive you.
But ensure you don’t cause the same issue later in life."
Sharon spoke softly but firmly. Her answer was ready a while ago, and James suddenly looked happier.
Dinner progressed much smoother after that, and Sharon proposed that they all sleep in the same room.
James and Daniel agreed before James decided to check on Anabella.
He did not know why, but his instincts made him check on the unrelated omega who lived with them.
It nagged him to do this since no one else was checking up on her.
So, even if James did not know why he felt the way he did, he followed his feelings and opened the door to Anabella’s room to check up on her.
There was a slightly sweet smell inside her room that made James flinch. He quickly slammed the door shut before he ran back to his room.
He had not even taken a few steps when he collided with his father’s legs and almost fell.
"What are you doing in this section of our house? Did you have some business with Anabella? Did you two suddenly decide to get along or something?"
Daniel asked in an almost joking voice, but his eyes had just a hint of aggression that made James gulp in fear.
"I...I just wanted to make sure she was back. M-My instincts made me do this. I am sorry. If you want, I will never do this again."
James apologized for something he was not aware of doing. This felt right; his father would forgive him if he were sincere.
Daniel let out an understanding sigh as he looked at his son.
"It’s fine. I can understand why your instincts are conflicted about what is happening. Anabella is living with us but is not your mother, nor is it blood-related. Your alpha does not know how to view her yet.
Just ignore her for now; this feeling will get easier to deal with in the future."
Daniel was speaking from experience as he advised his son. He was sure that the young alpha would find his footing soon and that there was no need to feel worried for James.
His son was just developing as an alpha, which was part of the process
