Chapter 63: Ch 63: Please, stay the night - Part 2
’What did Rita mean by all that she said? I feel I should talk to her and find out what she knows. But at the same time, I don’t want to head out and ask her....and it’s not because I feel comfortable enough to fall asleep right now.’
Anabella tried to make that excuse in her mind, but her body betrayed her as it sank deeper into the mattress.
She wanted to blame her instincts and how her body relaxed when it sensed her friends’ alpha pheromones. But Anabella knew the problem was not her friends but her body and instincts.
’This is bullshit! I should not be feeling like this, yet I cannot stop! What the hell is wrong with me? Please don’t react and leak any pheromones. I have a kid with me.’
James’s underdeveloped alpha scent was the only reason Anabella maintained any semblance of mental awareness. Otherwise, she was afraid that the combined pheromonal scent of Clair and Noah would make her body go into heat.
She might be married, but Anabella had not been claimed. Her body wanted to accept the alphas who were releasing such heavy pheromones.
"What time do you want us to wake you up, Anabella? Since my nephew just stayed a few days ago, we have kid-sized clothes here, so James can use those clothes. I am sure they will fit him just fine.
I can also drop you and James off when I head to work tomorrow."
Clair suggested as she snuggled into the bed a little harder. The female was lying behind James and in front of Anabella. A whole person was between the pair, yet it felt like Clair was touching her directly.
That was nothing compared to her goosebumps as she felt Noah’s body lying behind her.
The wide expanse of his chest could be felt right through his form-fitting shirt. Given how he felt behind her, the taller alpha might as well not be wearing anything now.
Being this close to the alphas her omega wanted to mate with made Anabella’s mouth dry and uncomfortable.
At the same time, she did not have enough courage or will to tell the pair to leave her alone and sleep anywhere else.
Her instincts roared when she even thought of this as an option. It reminded her that this house was filled with other omegas and betas who wanted to snatch away her partners.
’Tsk, this is a headache. My body is not listening to me when I tell it to do something. What should I do about this? I need to find a way-’
Noah moved behind Anabella, and she felt something hard brushing against her.
That was the last straw, and it made Anabella’s patience snap.
"Get out! Both of you! This is not an appropriate place for two alphas to sleep. Go to the double couch if you want to sleep in this room. Or tell me to go there, and I will head there."
Anabella tried to lower her voice but could not do so as she wanted.
Her voice echoed around the room, and Anabella’s face reddened at the loudness.
Noah and Clair looked at her wide-eyed before quickly getting up and following her words.
"Sorry! It looks like we played around a little more than we intended to. We will head back to the couch now. There is no need for you to get angry."
"That’s right! We were just playing a prank on you, so please don’t feel angry at us. See, we are heading away."
The alpha pair quickly ran away, but Anabella took some time to calm herself down.
She breathed a sigh of relief once alone in the bed (with James), and her instincts calmed down.
Guilt assaulted Anabella all of a sudden at what she did. She had not meant to get this angry, but her emotions had gotten the better of her.
It had been either this or letting her pheromones out and letting the pair know what she thought about this situation.
"This was for the best. I cannot afford to make a mistake right now. Besides, it was not the best time to control myself and test how much patience I had."
Anabella felt she would have made a mistake if James had not been in her bed tonight. She was ready to throw her restraint out the window if it came down.
But she did not need to do that, and Anabella could finally relax in bed.
"Is everything alright? I heard a loud noise-"
James asked as he blinked up at her, sleep dominating his eyes.
Anabella felt sorry for the kid she had accidentally woken up and placed her hand on his eyes to help him fall asleep.
"It’s fine! You don’t have to worry about anything, and you should also head to sleep. Everything is fine here."
Anabella assured the kid, who only gave her a suspicious glance before closing his eyes and falling asleep.
The omega felt like a scammer when she told the kid everything would be fine.
Nothing would be fine, and she lied to the kid about it.
But Anabella had spoken those words more for her reassurance than the kids’. She was the one who needed to know that everything would be fine soon.
’How pathetic to be reduced to this mess in one night. Even a year of marriage could not shake me like a single sleepover did.’
The house smelled of omega pheromones. Anabella was repeatedly reminded that there were more omegas in the house except her, which made her instincts rage in anger and disappointment.
But she pushed it all down and pulled the covers back up her body.
She would deal with her feelings later. For now, she needed to fall asleep.
Anabella did sleep the night through, but it was not a sleep that gave her the rest she needed. She felt even more tired than when she fell asleep when she woke up.
