Chapter 57: Ch 57: Staying out - Part 1

’Did these two fight? Why is the air so tense around the dining table today?’

Anabella regretted her decision to attend breakfast that morning. Not only had she been served a burned toast, but she also had to sit across the table from the tense couple.

The only one here who seemed to be enjoying the food was James, who was too young to notice the passive-aggressiveness the pair in front of her was showing.

*Sigh*

’This is ridiculous. I cannot believe these two behave worse than a kid when they are adults. If only I did not live with them, I would not have to worry about them.’

Anabella sighed before she decided that it was not worth it to stay home today and feel this awkwardness.

So, she told the family that she was heading out for the day.

"I will spend the night out today with my friends. Do not wait for me when you have dinner."

Anabella spoke up suddenly, and the pair in front of her looked startled by her voice. But they blinked as they looked at her in shock.

"Oh my! That is wonderful-"

"No! You are not staying out alone, even if it is with your friends. I expect you back home by 08:00 PM, and that is final."

Sharon had one opinion, but Daniel rejected Anabella’s right to stay out. It was as shocking for her as it was for Sharon and James.

Usually, Anabella would not have argued, taking what her husband said at face value and following it. But she wanted to stand up for herself this time.

So, she was quick to speak up in her defense.

"This is not fair! You can stay out as many nights with Sharon, but when I ask for the same, it is suddenly a problem. May I know what the problem is?"

Anabella asked, and Daniel suddenly went slack-jawed.

He tried to speak, but no words escaped his mouth. It was clear that he had not thought about this at all when he spoke back to Layla.

"See, you don’t even know what to say to me, much less know what you are denying me about. Now, I will head out, and not be home tonight."

Anabella felt angry and annoyed. She stormed off, leaving a stunned trio behind.

Daniel quickly shook off his shock, but his anger took over, and he decided to stand up and go after Anabella.

"Anabella, wait a minute and clear out this misunderstanding. I did not say ’no’ to you because I wanted to control you. I just feel worried-"

The alpha tried to apologize, but it was too late. Anabella was done listening, and she quickly escaped him.

Seeing her leave like this increased Daniel’s temper even more. At this point, he was unsure why he was angry at the omega. He just knew that he felt pissed off that she was not listening to him.

"Tsk, ungrateful brat! How dare she do this to me..."

Daniel spoke in a harsh voice that scared James enough to make him back away.

Seeing the kid this scared caused Sharon to act up. She placed a hand on Daniel’s shoulder to calm him down.

"Daniel, it’s fine! There is no need for you to feel angry like this. Anabella is at an age when she wants the freedom to express herself. You should not feel worried about her."

Sharon tried not to feel jealous, but it was tough for her to do. She felt her throat getting choked when she tried to breathe. But despite her body’s reaction, she kept a straight face when she looked at her alpha.

Daniel was not happy, but under the___14 guidance of his omega, he slowly calmed down and returned to his senses.

"You are right! Anabella is at that age when she feels curious and wants to head out with her friends. I don’t have a right or a reason to stop her. But still. I feel a little worried about her. What if something happened to her? What am I going to do then? I would not be able to face her family."

Daniel asked, and Sharon wanted to ask him a ton of questions. But she held her tongue back for the sake of the peace of this household, and she just smiled at her alpha when he talked about another omega.

"It will be fine, James. Anabella is not a kid and knows how to care for herself. She will be just fine even without us to hold her back."

Sharon promised, and her words soothed Daniel’s mind. At the same time, they also poisoned his mentality against Anabella to the point where it felt like her fault that he felt worried for her.

"You are right! There is no need for me to feel worried about anything. Anabella is a sensitive omega and s sensible person. She won’t do anything to cause a scandal. I am worried over nothing."

Daniel sighed in relief, and he finally relaxed.

James, who watched this all happen, wanted to speak up and tell his father that the only scandal anyone had caused in this household was his own.

But he kept his mouth shut and kept eating his food. He loved his mother and father and did not want to separate from them.

’Should I ditch school and follow after Anabella? I might be able to find out where she is headed and I might even be able to change her mind about staying out.’

Something about Anabella staying out did not sit well with James and he wanted to stop it. But just as he was about to decide, his mother stood up with James’s school, bag in her hand.

"I will take you to your school today, James. Get ready, and we shall head out now."

His mother asked, and James felt all his plants go down the drain in front of his mother’s aggressive mood. He wanted to tell her no, but he did not know how to say it.
