It took Sharon a long time to end that call, but by the end, she felt shaken. Her legs felt like they would give up any second, and her stomach churned with terror.

She cut the call and immediately dialed a number she had learned by heart.

The phone rang once or twice before it went to voicemail, and for the first time, Sharon was left unattended.

She refused to give up and decided to make another call to Daniel. This time, her phone was picked up, but the person who picked up the call was not the person she called for.

Instead of Daniel answering her call, the one who picked up her call turned out to be a female with a sweet voice. Sharon could instantly tell that the person on the other side was an omega, and she felt her blood run cold at that realization.

"Hello! Who is calling? Daniel, someone is calling for you, so wake up. Excuse me, just give me a minute, and I will hand this phone to Daniel."

Sharon waited with baited breaths as she heard her lover’s voice in the background. He sounded agitated and angry, making her feel like she was being scolded.

But she held her breath and waited for Daniel to take the phone.

"-don’t touch my phone again and get out. What do you even want...hello, who is this?"

Daniel asked, and he sounded angry at Sharon. She gulped in nervousness before taking a deep breath and taking her stand.

’What am I even afraid of? The one who should be angry is me! I am the victim here, not Daniel. He has no reason to be this angry.’

Within her mind, Sharon decided to speak up.

"I should be the one to ask if you have anything to say to me, Daniel. I called you because I was worried, only for someone else to pick up your phone. Would you like to clarify what is happening?"

Sharon’s voice made Daniel feel scared and regretful. Whatever he was about to say got stuck in his throat as he tried to make sense of what he wanted.

"I...that is...it is not what you think..."

Even though Daniel said this, his voice betrayed what he thought. Currently, he did not believe his own words, much less realize he was speaking.

Sharon heard him speak, but she felt angry.

"What is not as I think it is? Daniel, I can tell that you have something to say to me. Now, don’t hold back and tell me what you did."

Sharon asked in a tense voice. She was asking Daniel what he had fucked up, but he felt too ashamed to tell her about it. If possible, he wanted to keep quiet for a long time, but he knew it was impossible.

He needed to come clean and finally opened his mouth and spoke.

"Actually, I messed up big times, Sharon. Please, don’t be angry at me, but I...I have made a big blunder. But it is not my fault. Please hear me out first. What happened was...I got seduces. I had no say in what to do. Before I realized what happened, that omega was marked..."

Daniel made his excuse, and Sharon felt her heartbreak and freeze in shock as he spoke more and more.

"Y-You marked someone? An omega? And you did not tell me about it beforehand? How dare you. That is...do you know what I am feeling right now? How could you do this to me?"

Sharon asked in a tired voice. She looked ready to cry because of what had happened, and Daniel did not blame her. She had every right to feel betrayed.

’But Sharon does not have to put the whole blame on me. She can try to understand that not all of this was my fault.’

Daniel felt agitated as well. He could feel his bond egging him to protect his mate, but his mind and heart did not want to do that.

He was already on edge, and having Sharon angry with him was not helping him.

"Sharon, I think it will be better to discuss it later. I am getting a headache and need to resolve things before I talk to you about anything."

Daniel told Sharon what happened, but he felt nervous even as he spoke. He could tell that Sharon was far too quiet, and she was thinking about something else the whole time.

As soon as he finished speaking, he waited for Sharon to indicate that she heard him. But there was no reply from Sharon’s side. The quieter she remained, the more nervous it made Daniel feel.

"Sharon, are you going to speak about it to me? I feel you do not want to talk to me at all."

Daniel asked, but Sharon remained quiet. She rubbed her forehead on the other side of the phone, but Daniel could not see or hear her. He could only try to guess what Sharon was doing at the moment.

"Hey, I think we should take a break for a while. I don’t think we are going to work out too well. I also need some time apart from you to think about my life. For now, I would love to go back to my previous home.

Also, even if you are mated, I will give you a try. But if you bring that mate of yours anywhere near me, I will forever hold you responsible, and you will never see me again. So don’t make that mistake with me."

Sharon warned, and Daniel did not reply. He had no words left to speak, and only regret poured from his eyes in the form of tears. He quickly cut off that call, and that was the end for the couple...for now.

’Tsk, this is all mother’s fault. She caused me to become stuck in another relationship shop I did not want. Why is she so intent on ruining my life like this? Can’t she see me happy and leave me be?’
