Chapter 63: Chapter 63: HARD PILL TO SWALLOW
Quinn was at a loss. The more he listened to what Zara was saying, the more he found his state laughable.
Of course, with time, it seemed that he had forgotten his position by her side. Because he spoiled her and let him have everything he wanted. He had forgotten about the very important and small things and things that should have been remembered seriously.
But his complacency and confidence that he had it in the bag made him forget that Zara, despite being sick, wasn’t an idiot.
How could he have forgotten about that?
"I am sorry. I don’t have any words to say to defend myself. Just punish me as you wish!" he could only say that apologetically, afraid that if he were to spill what was in his heart, something bad might happen.
Zara looked at Quinn, who was obviously doing his best to sweep the issue under the rag. Talking nonstop like that for minutes made her throat die and her heart was thumping and racing abnormally.
If she were to keep on pressing for a quarrel, she would be the one suffering a huge loss at the end of the day.
"Fine, since you have apologized, don’t ever do that again. I don’t like it when people even you question my decisions. Just because I am sick and dying doesn’t make me unable to think for myself."
"I know that you are curious why I met with him. If you had just asked me, I would have told you everything. And since we have gotten to this stage, I might as well tell you everything."
"That guy you saw is the owner of the ring that I need desperately to survive. And Quinn, for me to live and have an extra day to see this beautiful world, I will do anything even if it means marrying the man I have only known for a day!" Zara dropped a nuclear bomb on Quinn before she started controlling her wheelchair towards the door.
Quinn didn’t react as fast as the statement. ’I will do anything even if it means marrying the man I have only known for a day,’ continued to ring in his head repeatedly without pause.
Zara didn’t care about what Quinn would do or how he would react. She was completely pissed off by his actions. To think that he had seen himself so powerful to the extent that her orders no longer mattered in her own house, she was so infuriated.
As she wheeled herself to her room, she couldn’t help but think of something.
Because she was dying and didn’t have hope of surviving, she had let Quinn roam free and acted as he wanted. Of course, back then, it didn’t matter to her since she would be gone. So, whatever would happen once she was gone was no longer her business.
But who would have known that she would have a chance to survive?
Her people, the people who were supposed to serve her, only listened to Quinn. How could she notice that so late like that?
He even had the guts to point his fingers at Ava and Emma so blatantly like that, as if they were his subordinates.
’Is it too late for me to start training my own?’ she lamented as she wheeled back to her room.
After entering her room, she locked the door and looked at the clock on the wall before breaking into a soft laughter.
"Hehe, despite being a bad time to wake up, it’s literally surprising that I actually managed to wake up this late!" she chuckled as she looked at [01:25] blinking bright red on the clock.
Zara went to sleep around eleven, which a pretty late for her since she usually goes to bed before ten. However, because of the ring issue, she had been having issues sleeping. So, when she went to sleep a few hours before, she didn’t forget to take her daily dose of spiritual water.
But then a surprising thing happened. The richness of the water tasted very different, and it was more superb than the one she drank the previous day. When she took it, she felt refreshed on a superior level than she ever did before.
So, she went to sleep and prayed for a good night in advance. But who would have known that she would get pressed while she was sleeping, which forced her to wake up?
When she saw the time on the clock, she knew that ringing the bell was out of the question. She didn’t want to wake Ava or Emma up, and as a result, she struggled until she made it into the wheelchair.
That was the first time in fifteen years that she managed to move herself from the bed to the wheelchair. The revelation was just mind-blowing. Unfortunately, she didn’t have time to admire herself as nature called her.
After dealing with her urgent problem, Zara no longer felt sleepy because of the excitement. But who would have known that the others weren’t asleep and somehow, she got to overhear Quinn scolding the two women she treated better than her mother being scolded like that?
It infuriated her so much that without any thought she wheeled herself over only for everything that happened next to follow and now she was back in her room.
"I can move myself! Oh, my goodness, this is really happening!" she screamed in excitement as she looked at herself.
"This ... this ... is it because of the ring?" she couldn’t help but wonder as she looked at the beautiful ring on her finger which looked as if it was made perfectly for her.
Ever since she wore the ring, it simply attached itself to her and now she couldn’t remove it.
She was very angry when she saw how the ring couldn’t be taken off, but now that she was seeing how magical the ring was before it could be used for that ritual, Zara felt that it was worth it.
"I guess I can only accept that proposal. And since I can’t sleep, let me tell the man in advance. Only this way can I sleep in peace!" she muttered to herself as she wheeled herself to the bed.
It took her another battle to send herself to the bed. Although the process was tiring, Zara had a smile, despite the pain she felt all over her body.
As long as she continues to get better, it won’t be long before she no longer requires anyone to scoop and carry her like a child.
Now that she had received a proposal, being carried always was starting to become very embarrassing.
After covering herself with the blankets, Zara took her phone and opened the chat between her and Amir before typing simple words, [I agree. Let’s meet tomorrow to discuss the terms.]
After sending that, she switched off her phone and closed her eyes with a smile on her face.
