Chapter 58: Chapter 58: FATE 2
"When I found out from my men that you were looking for something, I knew I had to do everything in my power to find it. But who would have guessed that what you were looking for happened to be something that I possess?" Amir chuckled helplessly as he looked at her suspiciously.
"I asked myself the whole night. How did she know that she would find such a thing here? Could it be the girl I fell for was a hidden saintess who would see the future or something? I had so many thoughts, many questions, however all that didn’t amount to how much I just wanted to see you in person, sit down with you and have a chat with you."
"I was dying to see the goddess of my dream. My fated one and the woman so capable of making me become a fool, I swore to never become. And now that I am finally sitting right in front of you, I want you to know that I mean no harm. Whatever secrets you have are yours to keep and when you are comfortable in sharing them. I will always be there for you."
"I only wish for you to be well and alive. So, whatever you want on this journey you have started, you can rely on me. I will do everything in my power to aid you," he vowed solemnly as he reached for her small hands.
Zara seemed to be fixated in place. She had just been thinking about what kind of madness was happening and yet Amir seemed to think otherwise. If it was someone else, he would have been very suspicious and ground her for answers, and yet Amir wasn’t doing so.
Thinking up on that part, she couldn’t help but recall Quinn’s continuous probing about why they were going to the village. She had to lie to let him off her back. It made her a bit uncomfortable back then, but when she thought of how he had been there by her side for fifteen years, she couldn’t say no.
She didn’t know why she had been busy comparing the two men ever since she started talking to Amir, but whatever was going on at that moment, the scale was favoring Amir and the man didn’t even know that he was scoring big without doing much.
"I have never touched a woman in my life, dear. You are the first for me!" he confessed once again as her small gloved hands were held in his.
Actually, he wasn’t as calm as he seemed to be. Just as he was saying, he had never really touched a woman, even his mother. And yet there he was holding her hands without suffering a backlash.
Were they really indeed fated? He was also starting to believe it. Maybe that dream was never wrong after all.
When Amir held her hands, Zara was surprised to find herself not repulsed by the thought of it. In fact, she finally came to be when his hands had already enveloped hers and yet she didn’t want to let go.
Something about his hands made her want to keep on holding a bit longer. They made her feel secure, and a voice seemed to be whispering in her ear, ’Everything is going to be alright,’ repeatedly.
She raised her head to look at him before smiling brightly and genuinely, something she didn’t do so often.
"I am honored then. Does that mean that I will be the first and last?" she asked teasingly.
"Um. I won’t touch anyone else!" he swore.
It wasn’t like he was lying. Apart from her, he doubted if he could touch anyone else. Before he couldn’t even withstand the scent of a woman, which was why he spent his life at a temple, he built wholeheartedly, praying and looking forward to the day that his goddess would descend and set him free.
And it seemed that his trip to Dynalis was the right choice. If he had not decided to follow his guts and leave his country for the meeting, would he have seen her?
It wasn’t like the Hansleys were the richest family in Dynalis. There were several richer families than them, and yet he picked them. Wasn’t this fate directing him all the way?
Forget about being cold and acting heartless. This was the goddess he was talking about, even though she looked smaller than needed. He wasn’t going to let her roam around confused when he could just bear it all in the open.
When she heard that vow, a smile appeared on her face as she was very happy with the choice of words.
If a man becomes hers, then he should belong to her fully. She didn’t want to go around competing with a mother or sister-in-law in the future.
Maybe it was because she had seen how her father recklessly had many women before her mother and how troublesome those relationships were making her life today.
Those other kids simply disliked her so much, since her mother was the real winner who managed to conquer her father’s heart to that extent.
If only he had been a bit faithful and not attracted bees everywhere he went, then life would have been better. But what had already been done couldn’t be undone?
And since it was due to his playfulness that made him meet her mother, she was very grateful for his ways. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been born into such a great family.
If she were to love and have a family with someone once she gets healthy, she wanted it to be with someone who cares. Someone who only has her and not her family in sight. And someone who would be so brazen and shameless to fight for what he wants just like her father.
And so far, Amir seemed to fit the bill pretty well.
Seeing her smiling so brightly, another arrow again struck Amir in his heart.
Seeing her happy and smiling was what he wanted to see.
Knowing that he was the cause of her smile made him even feel superior and much happier than when he struck a deal worth billions just a few weeks before his trip to Dynalis.
And imagining the future, how it would be like when all of this was over, he couldn’t help but smile together with her as well.
Everything was going to be fine; he was confident about it.
