Chapter 117: Chapter 117: BIRTHDAY BANQUET

Honk. Honk. Honk.

Cars could be seen halting and leaving at an orderly pace that afternoon at a famous resort just on the outskirts of Kuville city.

Ranging from sedans, SUVs and sports cars, all kinds of cars could be seen. What was more important were the people who could be seen alighting from these cars.

Those who didn’t know what was happening were quite curious to know what was happening. After all, it wasn’t every day that they got to see the people they usually saw on TV, news, and in magazines in person.

It felt like a great honor, actually and their curiosity was piqued to the fullest.

Alighting from the cars, these ladies and gentlemen didn’t forget to paste smiles on their faces.

Whenever they came across each other, they would greet one another, and talk for a bit before heading to the special hall where a very unusual banquet was happening.

If someone had asked them a few weeks ago if they would be attending such a banquet, their answer would be no. It wasn’t something that was on their schedule or timetable. However, it was something that they couldn’t miss for anything in the world.

The fact that they received such an invitation, if they were to decline it, who knew when hell would break loose and they suffer the consequences?

Holding a glass of champagne in hand, a certain young lady dressed elegantly with a graceful aura emitting from her was standing with a few friends of hers, her gaze scanning around and inwardly in awe of the people that she was seeing.

"It feels different being here!"

"Don’t even say it! I am curious why suddenly a banquet is being held. I heard that it’s for the fifth miss!"

"I am still in awe. For years, I believed that she was dead and that they didn’t want us to know about it!"

"It was a pity. She used to be cute!" the graceful lady spoke as she shook her head lightly.

"I heard you were once friends?"

"Um. Although she was hard to play with since she was too spoiled, she was nice. I guess!"

"So, all these years ..... have you ever wondered what happened to her?"

The young lady scoffed as her hand froze for a moment before she continued swirling the glass answering, "We were young back then, so of course we asked. But I can’t even recall what the elders said. But what I remember was that my parents told me to forget about her. And you know as kids, I just did that. After all, we move on pretty quickly."

"That’s true. We didn’t have the patience to be curious about a lot."

"Yeah. So, to receive a birthday invitation this time, imagine my shock! But curiosity got to me. Very curious as to what she had been up to all these years!"

"Yes, they should be a reason. Shouldn’t there?"

The group of friends weren’t the only people curious. Everyone who had been invited to this impromptu banquet was curious and eager to meet the birthday girl. After not seeing her for fifteen years, who wouldn’t be so curious?

Entertaining a group of ladies was Lena. Wearing a bright smile which made her shine so brightly like a polished gem, anyone could tell that she was being genuine for the first time. Ever since they met her or known her in the past years, the way she was acting on this day, felt real.

Seeing her like that, they couldn’t help but guess the ins and outs of whatever was happening. After all, it wasn’t a light matter that the child who hadn’t been talked about or shown in public for years suddenly popped out like that. What could have happened?

"You look radiant as ever! Congratulations and I can’t wait to meet the princess!"

Lena listened to the endless praises; her smile broadened as she felt as if she was floating.

"Haha, thank you very much. She will be here shortly!" Lena smilingly responded, love, oozing from every single pore of her body.

"We can’t wait then!"

"Lena, over here!" as she talked to the ladies, someone suddenly called her.

Seeing the person calling her, Lean looked at the friends she had made in the years and said apologetically to them since she had to leave and accompany the person who had called her.

"It’s okay. You are the host, so get busy!" seeing their friend in a dilemma, they hurriedly sent her away.

Lena smiled at them gratefully before leaving gracefully and confidently.

The friends seeing that, smiled, sincerity oozing from them.

"It’s good seeing her like that!"

"It’s been years after all."

"I am curious to see what she looks like now."

"Yes, she was always a cute child!"

"I am just happy though. After waiting for fifteen years, she is better."

"We hope so. No mother wants to send her children first!"

"It’s been hard on her!"

"At least things are looking up well!"

"Let’s brush aside the sad things. Have you seen the people who are attending?" a certain elegant lady dressed in a blue gown, with freckles on her face said as she pointed with her chin towards the people who were entering the hall.

Upon hearing that, all eyes turned towards the entrance.

Despite being ladies who stood at the top, and being married to influential men in Kuville, the love of gossip was something that was deeply ingrained in them.

If there was one thing that Lena’s group of friends had in common, they could all be considered canaries. They were spoiled housewives who didn’t raise a single finger at home. Consider it good or bad but for them, it was perfect already.

After all, everything that they ever asked for was already given to them. So why ask for more?

When people who don’t have much to do gather, what do they do usually?

Talk and that’s what exactly they started doing maintaining their graceful nature and basking in the envy of others.

After all, who didn’t know about their group?
