Chapter 116: Chapter 116: IS SOMETHING ON MY FACE?

"Ummmmm ..... the best sleep I have heard in my twenty-three years!" Zara yawned with a smile as she stretched her arms after waking up a while ago.

It was a good morning for her. She had not only slept well but got to live to see her birthday. What more gifts could she ask for?

However, her stretching came to a halt suddenly as she spotted her teary mother standing by the door. She wasn’t alone, but behind her, there was a group of people she had not seen in a very long time.

"Are we ..... are we holding the banquet in my room?" Zara, who failed to understand what was happening, found herself asking that question as her hands got lowered.

Upon hearing that, Lena, who had been holding herself back, lost it completely.

Zara watched with horror as her mother ran towards her and, before she knew it, she was in her mother’s arms. Was she really that happy for her like that?

Thinking that it was like that, Zara let her mother do whatever she wanted. It wasn’t like she didn’t tell them that she wouldn’t die. So why act like that suddenly?

Were they not afraid of scaring her weak heart?

Zara smooched her mother on the cheek, making her giggle despite the tears which kept streaming down her cheeks.

"Why are you crying? Are you not afraid of having puffy eyes later? I can’t have you messing my banquet!" Zara teased her mother, finding her mother’s actions very touching and cute at the same time.

Even she who had escaped from the clutches of death was acting fine. But why were these people..... thinking about these people Zara raised her head to look in the direction of where her siblings and staff were standing. She smiled at them reassuringly and said, "I am fine, guys. I told you before, that I will definitely lie!" as if she was talking about something as simple as returning from a journey.

"You ....."

"Hahaha. Are we really skipping the banquet today?" seeing that her mother was about to nag, she cut her before she could say anything.

Everyone looking at Zara, who was joking around without showing any breathing problems, and the weight they were carrying, finally got lifted. They got a scare before. So how could they even sleep?

Lena, seeing that her daughter was really fine, separated reluctantly from her before going back again to kiss her a kiss on the forehead.

"Thank you, baby, for being alive and here. Thank you!" she whispered as she moved away.

Zara looked at her mother, sniffling, as she bit her lower lip, doing her best to keep herself from crying. There was no way she was going to cry and mess everything up.

This was her day, and nothing was going to mess it up. Even she was included.

Lena patted her daughter in comfort and with those hands patting her, Zara, who hadn’t cried in a very long time, crumbled down as she lay in her mother’s embrace.

At that moment, Cade, who had just arrived, managed to enter the room after the rest of the people gave way for him. He joined Lena and his daughter, a smile of relief on his face.

No words were spoken, but everyone knew and understood how relieved everyone was.

Quinn, watching that, smiled bitterly as he fought the tears which were threatening to come out.

’It’s great she made it. It’s great!’ no one would understand how horrified he was when that happened. Thank goodness everything was fine now and good. She doesn’t remember.

Three hours later, Zara, who hadn’t taken a look at herself in the mirror, was sitting down in the cloakroom as she got dolled up.

Although the banquet was going to be held around 3 pm that day, these people started dolling her up thirty minutes after she had taken her breakfast.

Zara woke up around 8 am that day and with all the happiness and teary moments they all shared earlier, it was now around 1 pm. And she hadn’t eaten her afternoon snack, which was fine. She would eat at the banquet. They had prepared her favorite dishes, so she had heard.

If she stuffed her stomach now, who knows if she would be able to eat anything?

As her thoughts were filled with the banquet, she forgot again that she still hadn’t seen herself for hours.

However, sensing a scorching gaze directed at her, Zara flinched as she turned her head to look at the person looking at her piercingly like that.

And when she saw the person standing by the door, her brows rose as a smile appeared on her face. "Fourth sister, do I have something on my face?" she couldn’t help but playfully ask Ashely, whom she didn’t think was so thick-skinned to remain behind after everyone else had left an hour ago.

Ashely chuckled as she walked in, admiring the little sister she hadn’t gotten a chance to be with alone for years.

Seeing her like this, alive, well and even joking, she felt as if she was redeemed.

"How can I not admire my beautiful sister when she looks like this?" Ashely couldn’t help but praise her gaze on Zara’s face.

Upon hearing that, something in Zara suddenly clicked.

"I was wondering what I had forgotten, and now I know!" she exclaimed excitedly as she looked at the makeup artist who had been doing her face for a while now as gently as she could as if her face could break.

"You! Where the heck are all the mirrors?" Zara asked as she glared at the artist, her eyes slightly narrowed, and her expression looking not as fierce as she thought it could.

"Pftue~" Ashely couldn’t hold herself as she blurted a chuckle, her finger on top of her upper lip, finding Zara’s threatening glare to be very not so threatening.

Hearing her sister laughing at her, she shifted her gaze toward Ashely, glaring at the other. However, what she didn’t know was that her current look, coupled with her actions, would make even one person who loved acting all icy, Bradley, not be unable to hold himself as well.

"You are laughing at me?" Zara exclaimed sulkily, seeing that whatever she was doing wasn’t working at all but making these people laugh more.

What was happening? And why were they hiding so much from her?

Did she look funny, somehow?

Unfortunately, no one fell for her tricks. Zara had to withstand another hour of being dolled up before she could see her image.

And when she did, "Oh, Goddess of health! Show some mercy!" she cried out loud.
