THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 92: LOOP OF PROBLEMS
Chapter 92: LOOP OF PROBLEMS
"Ace, how could you–"
In a spur of the moment, his heel turned, and he grabbed Reign by the arm. "You, you’re coming with me," he said.
He pulled her along with him, and didn’t stop until they were by her car.
"The nerve to even drive into my house!" He dragged the icy words between his teeth.
"What nerve?!" She yelled at the top of her voice. "Did you think about nerves when you were—"
His hand went over her mouth, muffling the words she was about to spew. "Give me your keys," he said in a voice so cold, it rivaled Antarctica.
She pushed her purse forward, too scared for a rebuttal. He grabbed the purse and searched inside for the key.
"Get in," he said when he found it.
Going around to the driver’s seat, he opened the doors and went into the car.
Reign stood for a few more seconds, her eyes scanning around the mansion. In a matter of weeks, she would lay claim to it when it was confirmed she was indeed carrying the Atticus heir.
She just couldn’t wait to finally move in and claim her rightful place beside Ace. Then that redhead skunk he called a wife would be out of his life forever.
A cynical smile covered her face, when she heard him honk impatiently.
"Coming baby," she muttered under her breath as she turned around, and went into the car.
Ace didn’t waste any time in driving off. He had disappointed his mother one too many times, but this took the cake.
She had never liked Reign. Out of respect for him, she had simply tolerated her. She was nice to everyone, so it was a given that she wouldn’t be mean to Reign.
But one too many times, he had caught her shaking her head in disappointment whilst looking at Reign.
Who could blame her?
Didn’t he himself think he could control Reign? He was a beast tamer after all. If he could have dealt with his Aunt schemes from when he was just a boy, until now, then Reign was supposed to be a walk in the park.
He was beginning to realize that she had this manipulation thing down to a science.
However, he couldn’t put all the blame on her, he thought regretfully.
If he had stayed in his house, and not ventured drunkenly to the lake house, none of this would have happened.
His muscles tensed at the thought of this grave a punishment for some sex he didn’t even remember.
"You’re awfully quiet, my dear. Are you thinking of our future together?" She drawled seductively.
It used to be a sound he could tolerate. To an extent, it even turned him on. Now it just sounded like thick claws scratching a blackboard.
"There’s no future between us, Reign. It’s been over for a while now. Why can’t you just accept it?" He said, completely exasperated.
"And why can’t you just accept the fact that we’ll never be done? We’re two peas in a pod. Two sides of the same coin. Similar in every way. God knows this, and that’s why he’s sending us a son."
"Oh please," he hissed. "Why don’t you drop the act? We’re no longer in the presence of my mum or my wife. There’s absolutely no need for you to keep pretending."
"You think this is a joke?" She sneered, and rolled her eyes. "You better listen to me Ace Atticus. I’m going to have your baby because you fucked me raw last night. You better start getting used to that, because it’s happening, my love."
His eyes shut briefly as they stumbled on a little traffic. He hated everything that was happening.
This was why he loved to be in control of things. Everytime his control slipped, bad things happened.
The cars started to move again, and as he moved, he caught a building from the corner of his eyes, and instantly thought of Fay.
She absolutely loved the food from that restaurant. Funny how the same Reign that had interrupted their meal today, also interrupted it the other day.
Alexander had also been another factor, but that was a story for another day.
As soon as the thought of Fay crossed his mind, that was the only thing he could think about.
She had not said a word. He had taken a peek at her face at the peak of the ordeal. The expression he saw broke something in him. It was too dangerous to call it his heart.
It had been blank, and expressionless. He could have been able to take it if he at least saw pain. But it felt like she was so desensitized to the pain, she projected nothing.
He took a deep breath, his shoulders falling loose.
"There’s no need to beat yourself about this, baby. What’s done is done. Let’s think about the future," Reign said when she saw how restless he was being.
His phone rang, and it took him a while to remember it was in his pocket.
Hoisting a little, he pulled it out, and answered the call.
"Hey Lan, please tell me you’re calling with good news."
"Where are you? It sounds like you’re driving."
"Yeah. I’m taking Reign to the Kings hotel," he said.
"Reign? Why—"
"That’s something I’ll explain when we’re alone. Back to work. Tell me something good has happened."
"Well, it depends on what you’re calling good. Our foreign investors have laid a complaint today. Apparently, a video was sent to them of you beating up one of your family members. They’re seriously worried about the violence constantly attached to you."
Ace hand on the steering froze. He knew Celine’s work when he saw it. She had definitely retrieved a recording from the CCTV, with intent to destroy him.
They couldn’t see the whole story, of course they’d believe her.
How the hell did she move so fast? He wondered in his head.
"Hello? Are you still there?"
"I’ll call you later, Lan." He ended the call before he could cause an accident with how shaken he was.
"You look like you’ve seen a ghost. What’s up with you?"
"What did Aunt Celine tell you?" He asked as soon as the thought crossed his mind.
She had to have sent Reign to him last night. There was no way in hell it was a coincidence that Reign happened to be there, when he was out of his mind drunk.
"What are you talking about?" She frowned. "I haven’t seen your aunt since that day at the company," she said a little too defensively.
"You’re lying to me, Reign. I can’t prove it now, and for your sake, I hope I never prove it."
He drove to the side of the road, and stopped the car.
"What the fuck are you doing, Ace?" She asked as he opened the car, and stepped out of it.
"Leaving," he said behind his shoulders.
"But this isn’t— where are we even?" She asked, looking around.
"I don’t care. You find your way back to your house. Sitting beside you has become too suffocating to bear."
"Ace!" She screamed after his retreating figure.
A car stopped by, and he entered it.
"I didn’t think you’d get the message," he said to Landon, as the latter drove past a hysterical Reign.
"You’re really going to leave her by the side of the road? That’s diabolical," Landon chuckled.
"It’s what she deserves. If she can trap me with sex, then she’s grown enough to find her way home."
"Trap you with sex?" His brow lifted.
"Last night, Lan. In hindsight, I should have just called you after I drank a storm. I thought I could hold my liquor, so I halved a pretty strong bottle of whiskey, and headed for the lake house. She was there, and we had sex. Now she claims she’s going to be pregnant."
"Wait, hold on! You had sex with Reign?"
"That’s what she said." He shrugged.
"What do you mean, that’s what she said? Don’t you remember what you did?"
"I actually don’t. When I woke up, we were both naked and the bed rumpled. I don’t believe her, but she claims we’ll know the truth in a few weeks’ time when we confirm she’s indeed carrying my baby."
"Bullshit!"
"No shit," he muttered, and sighed.
"Reign is really good at what she does. Damn!"
"Worst part, she announced it in the presence of my mother and Fay."
"Your mum? And Fay knows too? Jesus Christ, man! How would she feel?"
"Like crap, probably. But she couldn’t even express how sad she was. Shit sucks, man."
"What are you going to do now? Because Celine is not taking her foot off your neck. Let’s not forget— what’s that?" He stopped the car abruptly.
The car behind honked, reigning curses on him, but he ignored the outburst.
"What’s that?" Ace asked.
He snapped his finger in front of him, causing Ace to lift his head.
"Oh no," the words slipped out of Landon’s mouth in a breathless whisper.
Above was a billboard with a video of him hitting his Uncle, playing on loop.
"Celine!" he blurted, grinding his jaw.
