THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY
Chapter 264: DEATHS BURNING DOOR

Chapter 264: DEATHS BURNING DOOR

"I’m going to investigate my damn self!" Fay declared moments later, jumping to her feet.

"What? Have you lost your mind? You can’t go out there on your own. Stay back, and allow me to handle it," Ace said.

"No," she shook her head violently. "That’s my grandfather we’re talking about. He saved me in ways I cannot even begin to explain. I’ll die if anything happens to him. I have to go." She insisted, walking towards her closet.

Ace ran a frustrated hand through his hair, as he exchanged glances with Landon.

Landon understood, and nodded to show that he did.

Turning around, he walked out of the room, leaving them alone.

Ace walked up to Fay, as she tussled through her bag in search of clothes.

"Hey, you need to calm down. I think we can only approach this with a calm mind," he said, holding her hand.

"Let go, Ace!"

She spun round, and faced him with a heaving chest.

"Your mother has been kidnapped. My grandfather too. There’s no being rational right now. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out this is a move from Celine. That bitch is not getting away with this shit this time around!" She threatened.

"I know. I promise you, I do. But if you go, she’d have won. This is clearly a set up, Fay. You can see it too."

"I don’t care!" She screamed. "How can you be so calm about any of this? This is your mother we’re talking about. My grandfather too!" She shook her head. "I simply can’t stay put. I have to go."

"And Dream?" He asked, pulling the last strings.

"Leighton will take care of her. I trust her enough to do that. And if you like, you can stay too," she said, pulling her hand out of his hold.

Ace sighed, almost at the brink of accepting defeat.

"Fine, then we go together. All I know is, I’m not leaving you all by yourself," he said.

She stopped, and slowly turned to him.

"And Dream?" She used his question against him.

"Dream will be fine, just like you’ve said..Leighton will take care of her. There’s security all over the villa. No one would hurt her here," he said confidently.

"And you? Are you ready for the public to know you’re alive?"

"They don’t have to just yet. Maybe my family could, but not the public. Whatever the case is, I’m not leaving you alone again, Fay."

She nodded, sniffling as she did. "I’ll just change into something else then," she said.

"I’ll meet you downstairs."

Ace turned around, and walked out of the room.

On his way to the room he hoped to see Leighton and Dream, Landon called to him from down the stairs.

He switched directions, and hurried down instead.

"Any updates?" He asked.

"The police have been involved. They’re currently searching for them. Grant on our behalf is pushing for Celine to be listed as the main suspect. But that’s not even all," he said in a disgusted tone.

Ares picked it up, and his ears twitched. "What is it now?" He asked.

A few minutes ago, Kings addressed the nation.

"He accused you of the same things Celine accused you of to your mother. I think they’re working together," he said.

"I thought we had come to that conclusion already? Anyway, you have to stay back with Leighton, and Dream. I couldn’t convince Fay to stay behind."

"Where are you two headed?" Landon asked, concern heavy in his voice.

"I don’t know yet. She’s taking the lead. My job is to protect her," he replied.

Landon placed a hand on his shoulder. "Be safe?"

"I will."

"No, I’m serious Ace. The guns are going to trigger your PTSD. You have to be careful."

"I will, okay?"

"Good." He nodded, and retrieved his hand.

"I’m going to go check on Dream before we leave," he said.

He turned around, and walked up the stairs.

On his way to the room he was headed to, Fay stepped out of hers.

"Going to check on Dream?" She called at the top of her voice.

"Yes," he replied.

She nodded, and followed after him.

Together, they entered the room where Leighton was comforting Dream.

"She’s asleep," Leighton said the second the door opened.

"She slept?" Fay asked in disbelief.

"She did. I didn’t even have to do anything too. I think she just had a tired day," she said.

"Leigh," Fay drew closer to her. "I have to go find out what happened to my grandfather, and Ace’s mother. Do you think you can take care of Dream until we return?" She asked.

"Isn’t that a dangerous mission, Fay?" She asked, looking from her friend, to her boyfriend’s friend.

"We’re going to be fine. I already promised Dream I’m not leaving her anytime soon. We only need you to take care of her until we get all the information we need. Right, Fay?"

Fay nodded in agreement.

"You know I’ll take care of her with everything in me. I’m just worried about you two. Promise me you’ll be safe?" She pleaded.

"We will. It’s a promise," Fay replied.

However, as they left together, Leighton still didn’t feel at ease.

"I don’t like this," she said to Landon, as they watched Ace drive away.

"We have to take care of Dream now." Landon drew her closer, and comforted her with the warmth of his body.

Fay was quiet. So quiet, Ace felt heavily disturbed.

He kept on stealing glances her way, as he drove on the highway.

He wondered what she was thinking about.

There wasn’t a plan in motion yet. All he knew was that he had to get her to her grandfather’s mansion, or she wouldn’t have a moment of rest.

"She’s so evil," she finally said in a hoarse voice.

"Fay," he called, but didn’t have anything else to add.

Instead, he reached for her with one comforting hand, while the other controlled the steering.

Fay sighed as she felt his hand on her. It was comforting, and definitely what she needed at that moment.

They had been through so much together. But she realized she wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to be with her at this moment.

Ace turned into a faster path to Fay’s house, but the car suddenly stopped.

"What’s that?" Fay questioned in alarm.

"It’s stuck. I think it’s from the tires," he said, opening his side of the door. "Stay in," he warned, as he shut the door behind him.

"But—" the sound of the door closing, stifled her protest.

She sighed, and reclined into the seat.

Ace walked to the front of the car, and was about to check for what had gone wrong, when he felt something hot just below the back of his head.

Fay, who hadn’t seen the masked intruder until the gun was pushed behind Ace, screamed.

"Surrender," The masked man whispered to Ace.

He threw both hands in the air in a surrendering gesture.

Fay tried to open her side of the door, but the car wasn’t the only thing stuck.

"Ace!" She called, as she struggled to open it, despite knowing her struggles were of no use.

"Tell her to shut it, before I silence her forever!" the other masked man that had made it impossible for her to open the car door, appeared.

"Go to hell!" Fay screamed instead.

"Let her go," Ace said. "It’s me Celine wants. She wants my inheritance. Tell her I’m willing to give her everything, but you have to let her go first."

"I said shut it!" The masked man pointing a gun at him, smacked his head from behind.

"Leave him alone, you bastard!" Fay cried out in distress.

She couldn’t stand watching Ace get hurt in the same spot he still had bandaged.

"It seems like your woman has some mouth on her. Well let’s see how much of a survivor she really is," the other masked man said.

"No," Ace protested, even though he didn’t know what they were about to do. "Let her go. She hasn’t done—"

His plea was silenced, when another man holding a gallon joined them.

"What are you doing? What is this?" He asked, trying to look around, in case there was an incoming car.

But they were in an isolated path, and there wasn’t any sign of anyone approaching.

The new guy began to pour the content of the gallon all over the car.

Fay looked around in confusion, but her heart jumped when a smell hit her nose.

"Gas," Ace echoed, and his eyes widened. "Fay!" He screamed, and jumped forward.

The guy with the gun pointed at him, grabbed him from behind, and fired into the air as a form of warning.

"One more movement, and you’re dead!" He warned coldly.

But Ace didn’t care. He told himself it was okay to die first, before letting anything happen to Fay.

Inside the car, Fay began to hit the windows as the smell of gasoline choked her.

Distressed, and seeking comfort, she looked beside her to see the moment Ace tried to run to her again.

A tussle between him and the masked guy occurred, and the gun went off.

"Ace!" Fay screamed, at the same time a match was lit, and tossed on the car.

It went up in flames, and the masked guys began to laugh.

Ace rose to his feet, having successfully retrieved the gun from the other masked guy who was bleeding from the gunshot.

"Give up, man. It’s too late already. She’s going to die," one of the two remaining guys teased.

Ace’s eyes went to the window, and saw Fay looking at him with relief in her eyes, as a single tear rolled down her face.

"Dream," she mouthed to him, and her eyes began to close.
