THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY
Chapter 263: ONE MORE HURDLE

Chapter 263: ONE MORE HURDLE

With a start, Fay woke up the next morning.

She looked beside her, and saw Dream still deep in sleep.

Sliding out of bed, she picked up her night robe, and fastened it around her body.

Her legs slipped into her slides, and she grabbed her phone from the bedside table.

Slowly, she tiptoed out of the room so she wouldn’t disturb Dream.

Walking around, she stopped when she located the balcony.

Her eyes went to the time on her screen. It was just 5am in the morning.

There was a sinking feeling in her heart. Something dark, and disturbing.

Before she could finish tracing the source of her distress, she began to dial her grandfather.

He picked up after two wrongs, and from the sound of his voice, she could tell she had woken him up.

"Fay?" He called.

"Hello, grandpa," she said, her paranoia calming just a little.

"Are you okay? Is everything okay out there?" He panicked.

"I’m fine. I just wanted to hear from you."

"I’m fine too. I’ll be returning to the house later today. I’m tired of the beach house already. But before you start to worry, I’ll have you know I already asked Cade to ensure everywhere is secured," he said.

"Alright, grandpa. Please take care of yourself," she said.

"I’ll do that. How’s Dream?"

"She’s fine. Still sleeping."

"Call me later so I can talk to her, please."

"I’ll do that. Go back to sleep, grandpa."

She ended the call, and felt an overwhelming rush of relief fill her.

Nothing was wrong with her grandfather. It was just a stupid dream.

Taking a deep breath, she turned around, and walked into the house.

She returned to her room silently, and climbed the bed again.

At eight in the morning, Ace was up. He walked into the living room to find Landon on his laptop.

"What’s up?" He asked.

"Here, come see this."

Ace walked over to the couch, and sat beside Landon.

"What is it?" He asked.

Landon turned the laptop towards him, and pressed play.

Reign’s weak voice began to speak, and Ace listened attentively.

By the time the audio ended, Ace was ready to explode.

"Seriously? She’s saying I tried to hurt her?"

"She is. It’s everywhere in the news. Only reason why more people aren’t talking about it online yet, is because it came out at midnight. Something tells me the police are going to drop by again," Landon said.

Ace took a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself.

"I really can’t believe her," he muttered. "She’s still going with this narrative even after everything?" He looked up at Landon. "Should I just show my face? End all of this nonsense once and for all?"

"No. I think we should wait. I have a feeling something is going to happen today. Besides, it’s still her word versus your evidence. The whole world watched her father shoot you. They saw her leave you to die. This is just a distraction technique to lure you out."

"Then I must go out. Why am I here, again? What if they don’t make a move? I’ll just stay here until? And Fay? She has a job. Dream has school, her friends, and family. I hate this shit!" He hissed.

"I know," Landon replied, equally irritated by everything going on.

"I need to speak to David Duke," he said. "He should have done something about the—"

"I have some evidence on Celine," Fay said, walking into the living room.

Dream was on facetime with Crystal, after her mother called first thing in the morning, because her daughter wouldn’t stop complaining about missing her friend.

It had given her the opportunity to talk to both men about the information she just received.

"What’s that?" Landon asked.

Ace’s eyes followed her, as she went to sit on the couch opposite them.

"I had my aunt send me every communication that passed between her, Celine, and Reign. As cunning as she is, she recorded all of their conversations in hopes to blackmail them with it. Unfortunately for her, she underestimated the lengths both women could go to cover their tracks. These are useless to her, but they can be important in the case against Celine," she said.

"Can I have a copy of those?" Landon asked.

"Sure," she said. "Where should I forward them?" She asked, already surfing through her system.

Ace went through his phone, whilst Landon and Fay settled on an address to send the information.

A message from Grant caught his attention, and he opened it.

"You have to buy the shipping company now that all of the Basses investment stocks are plummeting. It’s their biggest source of income. They’re desperate to sell, so they can keep all other investments afloat. But they want it done secretly, with a clause of buying back when they regain their strength. I still can’t access your frozen accounts."

He quickly replied. "Landon is going to send you the amount needed. Triple their selling price, but do not settle for a buyback clause. The moment the transaction is done, forward the receipts of Xylon’s illegal business playdates with the Don’s of Italy, to the gentleman FBI’s contact I sent you. No one must know Spades is involved."

"Yes boss."

Ace looked away from his phone, just as Dream entered the living room.

"Good morning everyone," she said, and went straight to Ace.

He carried her into his lap, and pinched her cheek playfully.

"Good morning, my angel," he said. "Hungry?"

"Not yet. I just talked to Crystal. She said she misses me at school. When can I go back to school?" She asked.

"Soon, princess. I promise you’ll go back soon," he said, and kissed her forehead.

"Hey Dream, can I steal your daddy for a few minutes?" Landon asked.

"Yeah Dream, come with me," Fay said, rising up.

"Okay."

She jumped down, and went to her mother.

"Call me if there’s any update," Fay said, as she carried Dream away.

"What’s going on now?" Ace asked when they were alone again.

"I think we need to send all of these to the lawyer. It would help in the case against Celine. It’s proof of Celine paying to slander Fay. She also paid to have her attacked. It would seem like the Aunt grew a conscience last minute, and used the money without having her beat," he said, showing Ace the receipts.

"This doesn’t erase the crimes the aunt committed. She had Fay’s parents killed, and for that, she’ll face the law. She and that awful husband of hers."

"And Xylon Bass?"

"Him too," Ace replied angrily.

"So how much am I wiring to the account?" he asked.

"Grant is going to send you the asking price. Triple, and send it. Don’t worry Lan, I’ll pay everything back once I get a hold of my accounts again."

"You better. But I find it funny how you don’t have these secret offshore accounts. Most billionaires do," he said in jest.

"Well I’m not most billionaires. I like everyone to know how much I have," he bragged, and they both chuckled at the same time.

"Everything is going to be fine, Ace. We’ll make sure of that," Landon said when they were sober again.

"I know," Ace replied, nodding in agreement.

Evening came, and the door bell chimed. Cam opened the door, and Leighton walked in.

"Aunt Leighton!" Dream screamed, and ran to welcome her.

"My beautiful darling!" Leighton said, picking her up from the ground. "I bought you lots of sweets," she whispered, walking into the living room.

"Did you?" Dream asked giddily.

"I sure did!" She replied, chuckling.

"Hey baby, welcome," Landon, who was in a conversation with Ace, paused to welcome Leighton.

"Welcome doctor Leighton," Ace added.

"Thank you boys, but you’re not the two I want to see right now. Where’s Fay?"

"She’s ups—"

Ace was saying, when Fay’s piercing scream echoed around the villa.

He was up before anyone moved, running up the stairs two at a time.

Pushing her door open, he ran in to see Fay on the phone, shaking vigorously.

"Cade, I swear to God I’ll ruin you if you don’t find my grandfather. How could you let him out of your sight? How could—" her lips began to quiver, as she stumbled back.

Ace walked up to her, and snatched the phone out of her hand.

"I’ll call you back," he said, and ended the call.

Wrapping his hand around Fay, he led her to the bed, just as others came running into the room.

"What’s going on?" Leighton, carrying Dream, asked.

"Mummy, is everything okay?" Dream innocently asked.

"Get Dream out of here, please," Fay said in a hollow voice, struggling not to burst into tears.

"No, I want to stay with you, mummy!" Dream protested.

Landon showed up from behind. "She can’t be here," he said.

When Ace looked his way, he knew something different was up.

"We have to go, Dream." Leighton turned around.

"No, I want to stay with my mummy," the little girl cried, whilst actively protesting.

"Please take her away," Fay kept repeating, tears gathering in her eyes.

Despite her cries of protest, Leighton managed to take the screaming Dream into another room.

Landon quickly shut the door behind them.

"What is happening, Lan?" Ace asked.

"It’s your mum, Ace. I just got a call from the house. Your mum has been kidnapped," he announced.

Ace’s heart dropped, and his fist folded reflexively.

"My grandfather too," Fay said in a faint voice.

He turned to Fay, and she jumped into his body, seeking comfort.
