THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 260: CALM FIRST STORM LATER
Chapter 260: CALM FIRST STORM LATER
The bell in the villa chimed in the middle of Ace’s discussion with Landon, and they stopped talking.
Exchanging glances, before looking towards the living room, they waited.
Cam, who was in charge of vetting out who could go in or come out, opened the door, and Cade stepped in.
"I think he opened the door," Landon said.
Ace was already on his way to the living room.
When Cade’s gaze fell on Ace just as he entered the living room, his breath quickened.
"Sir Ace?" He called, his voice filled with shock.
"Hello, Cade. Did you bring the things Cam asked you to bring for Fay, and Dream?"
Still in shock, he tapped the bag he was holding.
When he was asked to escort Seth to the beach house, and not Fay, he had wondered what was happening.
As much as he wanted to question the decision, because his job description was protecting Fay, he knew it was pointless.
No matter how firm one was, once Fay made a decision, no one could sway her.
He didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes either.
"Good. Renee?" He called.
The older woman came out hurriedly, as if she had been hanging close by in wait for his call.
"This is Cade, Fay’s bodyguard. He brought some things for her. Please take it from him, and ensure it gets to her," he ordered.
"Okay, Sir Ace," she walked up to Cade, and offered the shaken, confused man a smile. "Hello Mr Cade," she said, as she reached out for the bag.
He stretched it to her, and waited until she left before he turned to Ace again.
"Wow!" He blurted, unable to keep it together anymore.
"I don’t have the time to answer whatever question you might have, Cade. What I need you to do is return to Seth, and ensure he never leaves your sight. And I know this goes without saying, but you can’t tell anyone about any of this. You have to remain totally discreet. Can I count on you to do that?"
He gesticulated, zipping his mouth, and throwing the keys behind him.
"Excellent," Ace said, and turned to Landon, his body language questioning if he had any other thing to say.
When he didn’t make a move to speak, he decided to dismiss Cade.
But before he could, Fay walked out of the room, with Dream beside her, and Renee following behind her.
"She was already on her way out. I tried to drop the bag, and return to collect the tray from her hands, but she won’t let me." Renee shrugged.
"I told you I have hands, ma’am," Fay said, but paused walking.
Looking around in confusion, she waited for someone to point her to the direction of the kitchen.
"You do have legs too, mummy," Dream said, cracking everyone up.
"Keep laughing, Cade. I see you, and I can decide to unsee you forever," she threatened.
His laughter instantly vanished, causing the others to laugh even more.
Putting her out of her misery, Ace decided to retrieve the tray from her.
"I said I can handle it," she argued ..
"I know you can. I just don’t want you to bother. You should go rest," he said, insisting on collecting the tray from her.
"Rest?" She scoffed. "You do know I asked for my laptop to be brought because I still need to work, right?"
"I know. You can work in your room though. Let me take this."
"Just give it to daddy, mummy. He’s being romantic," Dream said.
Chuckling in surprise, Fay turned her head towards her daughter.
"And how do you know what being romantic entails, ma’am?" She asked.
"The cartoons." She shrugged.
"Yeah, I need to see what these cartoons are teaching you," she shook her head, and turned back to Ace. "Here, you can have it," she said, giving up.
"Thank you," he replied, turning towards the kitchen.
"Cade? Did you get everything I wanted?" She asked, after Ace left.
"Yes ma’am."
"Good. Please take care of my grandfather. I know he’s worried about me, but ensure he takes all of his meds, alright?"
"Yes ma’am. I guess I’ll see you later then," he said.
"Bye uncle Cade!" Dream waved.
"Bye little princess," he said, as Cam escorted him out of the house.
"Did Uncle Cade bring my toy car?" Dream asked.
"I guess he did," Fay replied.
"Yay! Now I can play all day with uncle Landon, and my daddy," Dream jubilated.
"Sure thing princess," Landon said, drawing closer to her. "But first, I have to go to Spades. Do you remember what Spades is?" He asked.
"It’s daddy’s company," she replied brilliantly.
"Excellent!" He lifted a hand, and she high-five him.
"When I return, we can play until the dead of the night."
"Yay!" She twirled excitedly.
"Landon?! Don’t make that kind of promise to her. It’d be more difficult getting her to go to bed," Fay scolded the both of them.
"Oh common, mummy. Just for tonight, please? It’s not like I’m going to school," she pouted.
"No way, Dream. You still have your bedtime. There’s a reason it’s set that way," she replied.
"And what’s the reason? Crystal’s bedtime is nine. Why is mine eight?" She asked, placing both hands on her waist.
Both Fay, and Landon laughed at the picture she presented.
"Dream, every household runs their schedules differently. I’ve calculated how much time you spend awake, and asleep. Eight is the best time for you to sleep, so you get to have all the benefits that come with a good night rest. Is that an acceptable explanation?"
"It is," Dream replied.
Landon was both amazed, and impressed. Fay was such an excellent mother. He always knew she would be, and she didn’t disappoint him.
Ace returned to the room, cracking a smile towards his daughter that was skipping towards him.
"Where’s Leighton?" Fay asked Landon.
"She had to leave pretty early because of her shift. She did say she’d return once she’s clear for the day."
"Okay then. Well I guess she’s all yours, Ace. I have to work. See you later!" She waved at them, and walked out of the room.
"We’ll talk later?" Landon smacked Ace’s shoulders.
"Sure. Just be careful out there," he said.
"I will," he walked towards the room, but suddenly stopped, and diverted into the kitchen. "Are there leftovers?" He asked at the top of his voice.
"Your breakfast is in the microwave, weirdo!" Ace replied.
"What’s a weirdo, daddy?" Dream asked.
"It’s something you have to ensure you never become," he replied, picking her from ground up.
"Does that mean it’s too late for uncle Landon?"
"You can say that," he replied, chuckling.
"I heard that!" Landon screamed from the kitchen.
"Weirdo," Dream muttered, and Ace couldn’t stop the laughter that spilled from his guts.
He carried Dream into one of the emptier living rooms, large enough for a play date.
He had dropped her to the ground, when he realized the toy car wasn’t with them.
"Dream, come with me so we can go get the toy car from your mummy," he said.
"Can’t I just sit down and wait for you to get them?" The mischievous four year old asked?
"But I don’t want to leave you all by yourself," he replied.
"I don’t mind," she shrugged. "Also, if any bad person comes around, I’ll scream for you loudly," she said.
"You do that, alright?"
"Okay daddy!" She bobbed her head.
He blew her a kiss, before walking out of the room.
The closer he got to his room, which was now his daughter and her mother’s room, the more his heart rate surged.
He stopped at the door, and it took all his will not to turn around, and return to the playdate empty-handed.
Instead, he put on his big boy pants, and knocked on the door.
Fay was halfway to the bathroom when she heard the knock. Fastening her robe, she walked to the door, and opened it to find Ace standing before her.
"Hey." he waved.
"Hey. Is Dream okay?" She asked, looking around him.
"Oh, she’s fine. I just wanted to collect the toy car from you," he said.
"Oh, okay. Come in."
He stayed right where he was, not sure it was a good idea to come inside.
"Why aren’t you moving?" She asked.
"I think I’d just stay out—" her phone rang, interrupting him.
"Sorry, excuse me."
She walked over to the phone, and answered without looking to see who it was.
Her face tightened when she heard the voice at the other end of the lime.
"Hello Jason," she said, taking a deep breath.
Ace’s breath quickened at the sound of his name.
Landon had just briefed him on who Jason was.
Solid guy, if he was being fair. It was also important to mention his family was super close to his.
He had discovered he couldn’t find any fault in him.
But hating him for no reason? That he could do
"Jason, why don’t I call you later? My daughter needs me." Fay quickly ended the call, and breathed out.
She raised her head towards Ace, and when he smiled in return, her confusion grew beyond reason.
