THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 259: ONE MORE EFFORT
Chapter 259: ONE MORE EFFORT
Gabrielle walked into the matriarch’s room, and found her laid in her bed, watching the news.
"Hey, I brought you something for your heart," she said, walking over to the bed.
She dropped the glass on the bedside table, and helped the matriarch into a sitting position.
"Leighton says this would help," she said, handing her the glass.
"I appreciate the doctors’ attempt to help, but nothing is going to help me, Gabrielle. Except by some stroke of luck, or a speck of miracle, I see my grandson, my Ace, standing in front of me. I can’t believe he’s gone, Gabby," she said, her eyes began to water again.
Gabrielle had never seen the matriarch cry like this.
Not when her son died, and not even when her husband died.
It was true what everyone said. Ace really was her favorite person in the world.
"We used to fight all the time. But he never failed to send me random things. There’d be a note warning me not to call, and thank him because he was still mad at me. Who is going to get me things even when they’re mad at me?" She cried.
Gabrielle sniffled. She was finding it hard to come to terms with that fact too.
It seemed strange. Almost impossible..
Sometimes, she looked behind her in hopes she would see her son waving at her.
"Mum, you need to take a break," he would always say.
She never did anything, but he always wanted her to rest some more.
"We’re never going to be fine, are we?" She asked in a voice haunted by bitterness, and sorrow.
"Not until the day I die," the matriarch declared.
Gabrielle sat beside her, and hugged her dearly.
"I know we miss him. But we have to be strong for the other kids. For Dream."
"Dream," the matriarch whispered, and pulled out of Gabrielle’s hug. "How is she? Have you heard from her since the funeral?"
"Seth called," Gabrielle sighed. "He said Fay is acting strange. She took Dream away, but not to their home. Do you think it has something to do with Dream still not believing her father is gone?"
"Poor child," the matriarch sniffled, as she began wiping off her face with the back of her hands. "Imagine the shock this must be for her little mind? I think Fay has every right to take her away. Only she can be there for her the way she needs," she said.
"You’re right. I would have loved to hear her voice though. I wish we were all together in these trying times."
"I know—" she paused, when her eyes caught a headline. "Turn the volume up, Gabby," she ordered.
Gabrielle swiftly picked up the remote control, and did as she was asked.
"What’s this about?" The matriarch held her breath, as clips after clips began to play.
First it was the conversation before Kings shot Ace.
"That bastard!" She screamed when the first clip stopped.
"He shot him because he wouldn’t stay with his crazy daughter?!" Gabrielle also screamed out in frustration.
"What’s all the noise about?" The door kicked open, and Celine entered the room.
Just then, the news anchors began to analyze the second clip they were yet to play.
"It would seem like the anonymous uploader of these clips is out for blood. They didn’t just stop at the full video showing what transpired between the Kings, and the now deceased Ace Atticus, they also took it back to many years ago, with the death of his father that was ruled to be suicide."
Celine’s heart skipped a beat. Her palms began to sweat.
She didn’t need to see anything more to see this for what it was.
Ace had beat her to the media. Thinking on her feet, she quickly walked to the bed, grabbed the remote, and turned it off before the clips could load.
"What did you do that for?" Gabrielle rose to her feet, breathing down on her in anger.
"Stop watching these conspiracy trash around my mother. Her heart is barely holding up. How can you be so cruel, Gabrielle?!" She fired back.
"Cruel for trying to know the truth? Have you forgotten it’s only because of these anonymous uploads we know what really happened to Ace?" She screamed at the top of her voice.
"Ace?" Celine scoffed. "So you two don’t know Kings have been caught, and released. You don’t know what your precious Ace tried to do to Reign?"
"What are you talking about, Celine? Over my dead body will Kings walk away after what he did to my son. And how could Ace have done anything to that bitch when he’s dead?!"
"Because he isn’t, okay? And he tried to kill Reign. Your son is a bipolar freak that faked his death for attention, and easy manipulation of the public’s mind!"
Gabrielle’s hand landed hot across Celine’s face, sending her reeling back with shock, and pain.
"How dare you speak so Ill of the dead? I know you hate my Ace, but how dare you talk about him in such a disgusting manner?!" She snapped, and lunged for Celine.
"Gabby, stop it!" The matriarch screamed, trying to rise to her feet.
Gabrielle was over acting nice. She pushed Celine to the ground, and jumped on her.
Grabbing her hair, she began to pull, whilst Celine tried to wiggle her way out of the pain.
The matriarch held on to the bed, as she tried to rise to her feet, and disengage the ongoing rage.
She looked around, but couldn’t find her cane for balance.
Falling to the ground, she began to crawl to the tussling duo, as she begged them to stop.
She was almost within them when the door pushed open, and Colin, in the company of the twins, rushed into the room.
The twins quickly went to their mother, trying to lift her off Celine.
"Let me go! She’s calling your brother horrible names even in his death. How dare her do that to him! How dare her!" She screamed, throwing her hands everywhere, hoping to leave marks all over Celine’s body.
Colin successfully dragged Celine away, before turning to also carry the matriarch back to her bed.
"Let her go mum. She’s not worth it," the twins said, trying and failing to hold Gabrielle back.
She slipped out of their hold again, and dashed towards Celine who was still trying to catch her breath.
"What did you do to my son?! Because I’m a hundred percent sure those King’s bastards were not working on their own!" She screamed, and jumped on her body again.
Colin dropped the matriarch on the bed, and turned to grab Gabrielle.
"Stop it, aunt Gabby!"
"Let me go!" She screamed.
"Why don’t you just get out, Celine!" The matriarch screamed all the way from the bed.
Celine didn’t need to be told twice. She ran out of the room, past the living room, and stopped outside the compound.
"Where’s my fucking car keys!" She screamed from her cracked open, bleeding lips.
One of the driver’s hurried to her, with her keys in their hand.
He handed it over to her, and she screamed for the gate to be opened.
Roughly, she drove out of the compound, and headed straight for the hideout where Kings was.
Once she arrived, she hopped out of her car, and hurried into the house.
"Celine Atticus," Kings called, coming down the stairs.
"Now’s not the time for pleasantries. I want Ace Atticus dead, and I want him dead now!" She screamed.
"Calm down, Celine."
"I can’t fucking calm down, you bastard! Have you seen the news? He beat me to it!" She hit her chest angrily.
"We can’t kill him if he’s in hiding," Kings said reasonably.
"Well we’re going to draw him out then," she said.
"How?"
"Gabrielle, of course. His precious mother did this to me. If I can’t use that bitch, Fay, or his stupid daughter, Dream, to get to him, best believe I’ll be using his mother!" She said bitterly.
"Great. I’ll have my boys arrange for her to be captured tonight. But it’s best if you go into hiding. The cops would be out to get you soon. Our story is still going to hit the press, don’t worry about that. Although, I’d say it was smart for Ace to go to the press first."
"Well I guess you taught him well," she hissed in irritation.
"Celine, go into hiding, and leave everything to me. Ace Atticus has gone unchecked for a long time. We’re going to lure him out using his mother, just like you’ve suggested."
"And if it doesn’t work? He could just send that Landon fool instead," she said.
"Then we make it impossible for him not to come out himself."
"How?" She asked, lifting a hopeful brow.
"His woman’s grandfather. We take him too. The girl wouldn’t resist coming out for her grandfather. If he sees she’s willing to damn the danger, and find a way to save her grandfather, he’ll come out of hiding too."
Celine’s eyes instantly sparked with a sinister twinkle.
"You do that, and if you succeed, I promise I’ll do everything in my power to get you back to the top," she said.
"We have a deal, Celine Atticus," he smiled, and threw her a wink.
