THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 258: MEDIA GAMES
Chapter 258: MEDIA GAMES
Fay was awoken by the sound of her buzzing phone.
With a groan of protest, she rolled to the other side of the bed, and stretched out her hand to the bedside table to stop whatever was making the phone buzz.
Her fingers slipped, and she ended up answering the call.
"Shit!" She cursed in her mind.
She was going to pretend not to hear whoever was at the other end of the line, and just end the call anyway, when the loud, annoyed voice of Seth Luxe, sent her flying into a sitting position.
"Good morning grandpa," she said, wiping the remaining sleepiness off her eyes.
"Fay, there’s absolutely nothing good about this morning. I did as you asked, and went to the beach house. But I couldn’t rest because I don’t know what is happening with you. Where are you, Fay?"
She bit her lips, as she cracked her brain in search of a quality excuse.
"Grandpa, I told you I just needed to get away a little bit with Dream," she replied.
"Nonsense! I just saw the news, and Kings have been caught. His daughter was taken to the hospital too. Do you know how scared that got me? Where are you, Fay? I’m coming to get you myself."
"I already told you I’m fine. Why can’t you trust me? I’m not a child anymore, grandpa. I love you with my whole heart, but I think I have the right to go wherever I like with my daughter. She’s safe, and that’s all you need to know," she replied strongly.
She hadn’t meant to go off that hard, but it was beginning to seem like he didn’t think she was capable of taking care of herself, or her daughter.
"Fay," his voice came out a little calmer this time around. "I know it sounds like I’m smothering you, but put yourself in my shoes please. Do you think I’d be able to survive if anything bad happens to you?"
She sighed, relenting a bit. "I understand you, grandpa. I love that you care so much about me, and Dream. I just need you to have a little more faith in me. I’m fine, and so is Dream."
"Can I talk to her then? I just need to hear her voice. Maybe that would make me feel much better."
"Su—" she was saying when she whipped her head behind her, but didn’t see the little frame of her daughter.
Her heart dropped into her mouth, and in a swift second she jumped out of bed.
"Fay, are you okay?"
"I’m fine, grandpa. Dream is still asleep. I’ll call you back later."
She ended the call quickly, and dashed for the door.
She was about to open it, when it opened from outside, and Dream walked in, followed behind by Ace.
Taking a step back, she breathed out a sigh of relief.
"Mummy, are you okay?" Dream asked, staring at her with a weird expression on her innocent face.
Ace dropped the tray he was holding on the bed, and turned to Fay.
"Yeah, I’m fine." She forced a smile.
"That’s not true," Dream insisted.
She smiled heartily the second time, as she bent to talk to Dream.
"Yeah you’re right. I was just worried when I woke up and didn’t see you. I was on my way out to find you," she said, and placed a gentle kiss on her cheeks.
"That’s because I woke up early and didn’t want to disturb you. I found daddy, and we made you breakfast," she said, showing off her front tooth in a toothy grin.
"Really?"Fay’s eyes lit up, as her face sparkled.
She straightened up, and turned towards the bed.
"Good morning." Ace waved.
Her heart did a double beat at the picture he presented in her disoriented mind.
The overgrown hair wasn’t a bad look at all.
It made him look like a wild savage. Maybe because he was just sinfully a beautiful man.
And then the breakfast sitting in the tray on the bed was just the perfect addition.
"Don’t get used to this, Fay," she warned herself sternly in her head.
"Are you going to try it, mummy? Daddy did most of the work, but I helped," Dream said, pulling her off her wicked fantasies.
"Can I?" She directed at Ace, who gestured towards the bed, and nodded his head.
Covering her body with the robe of her nightwear, she walked to the bed, and sat on it.
"You should eat too, Dream. Come join me."
"No mummy. I already ate with daddy," she replied, and moved to stand beside Ace.
She clung to him with her little hand, and Fay couldn’t help the wave of emotions that hit her as she watched them.
Dream was the happiest she had ever seen her, and it warmed her heart.
Ace was a lot of things, but she could see he enjoyed being a father.
"I didn’t know what you preferred, so I made some varieties," Ace, who hadn’t said more than two words since he came into the room, said.
"I can see," she bobbed her head. "Are you sure you two don’t want to join me? This is a lot," she said.
"Nah, we already ate. It’s all for you."
She smiled giddily, and it made his next breath what breathing..
That excitement she always had when she was presented with food had not left her yet.
Another thing he was grateful for.
He watched as she took the first bite. When she closed her eyes, and hummed, he gave Dream a high five.
"I didn’t know you could cook like this, Ace," she said.
"You never cooked for mummy before?" Dream innocently asked, looking up to him.
"Uhmm–" he scratched his head, speechless for a few seconds.
"Bad daddy. From today, you have to cook breakfast for mummy, okay?" She stretched a little warning finger, wagging it all over him.
Fay laughed. "Dream, you can’t force anyone to cook. We have cooks for that," she said.
"Nah, she’s right. I owe you breakfast. A lot of it."
Her eyes softened as their gaze held. This side of Ace was almost diabetic.
She feared she would get used to it, and just end up being hurt again.
But props to Dream though. She was clearly his wingman.
Ace’s phone rang, interrupting them. He cleared his throat as he reached into his pocket, and pulled the device out.
"Dream, stay with your mummy. I’ll just answer this call real quick, okay?"
"Okay!" She replied, and waved him away.
"Excuse me please," he said to Fay.
"Go ahead," she said with a mouthful of food.
He smiled at that image, before walking out of the room.
"What is it, Grant? Any news?"
"Good morning, Sir Ace. I have some very disturbing news for you," he said.
Ace took a deep breath, preparing himself for whatever it was he needed to know.
"Talk to me," he said, walking into the kitchen, and closing the door behind him.
"It’s Celine. She found a way to get Kings out of jail on bail," he said.
"What? How’d that happen?"
"She knows the judge who granted the order. That’s not even the worst part."
"What is it, Grant?" He asked, pacing back and forth.
"Reign is stable now. From what my spy was able to gather, she told them she was confronting you when the gun went off. It looks like Celine is going to out your presence. She’s running a story by the press on you. Our lawyer thinks she’s going to claim you have bipolar. That’s why you faked your death, and tried to kill Reign."
"What?!" He screamed in alarm. "That makes no sense. Everyone saw Kings shoot me on camera."
"But if she pushes the bipolar misinformation first, they’re going to claim you provoked him by striking Reign, and trying to kill her first. It’s all in the motives. They’ll be claiming self defense. This way, even when you openly accuse Celine of her hand in the death of your father, your accusations wouldn’t hold any weight."
"Oh fuck off!" He cursed between his teeth, as his hand folded into a fist.
"I’m so sorry, sir Ace. Your lawyer is doing everything he can to help."
"Grant, we need lawyers for the legal aspect of this case. But you and I are going to have to do some illegal shit. Those three are not getting away with fucking me over again. I swear on my life, not this time."
"Hey, what’s going on?" Landon, who had just entered the kitchen, asked.
Ace turned around, and raised a finger to gesture he needed a minute.
"What do you need me to do, Sir Ace?"
"Speed everything up. Run the story of Celine being a murderous bitch first. Do you still have the full video of the altercation between me, and the Kings?"
"Yes, and best part, I managed to extract the sound too," he replied.
"Excellent, Grant! That’s really good. I want that in every news outlet too. We’re going to beat Celine in the public perspective game."
"Alright, sir Ace. I’ll do everything you ask."
"And Grant?" He called just before the call could end.
"Yes sir Ace?"
"Stay safe," he said, before ending the call.
