THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 248: RESURRECTED
Chapter 248: RESURRECTED
A blinking message caught Grant’s attention as he surfed through the feedback messages that just arrived.
He opened the mail, and the second he read the first line, jumped to his feet in excitement.
"Sir Ace!" He called, running into Ace’s room.
Ace, who would usually sit in the living room, and stare into space, had remained in his room ever since Landon visited.
"Sir Ace, I know you don’t want to talk, but I hope you can at least listen to me. I just found something important. Something that is sure to make you happy," he said.
Ace heard him quite clearly. He held his breath, waiting to hear what it was that was supposed to make him happy.
"So in the midst of the chaos after you were shot, I was going to throw away the clothes you were wearing which were all bloodied, when I found a note in your pocket. A name was written on it."
A shudder ran through Ace, as his memory was jolted.
He remembered the note clearly. He remembered the name, and what it represented.
"I thought it must be important to you, if you had written it in a note. I remember you prefer to write things that are actually important down, than make use of a digital note."
Ace slowly turned to face him, showing him that he had his attention.
Bursting with joy at finally being heard, Grant went on.
"I’ve been trying to gather as much information as I can on Celine, and in my research, I came across that name. I remembered you had the note with the name in it. When I checked, it tallied. I left every other thing I was doing, and focused on that name."
Ace nudged his head, encouraging him to go on.
"I discovered he was one of your father’s bodyguards. He had been with him the night he supposedly committed suicide. All of a sudden, he disappeared off the face of the earth, and it was as if he had never existed."
Ace’s breath he was holding almost suffocated him, but he still held on to it in anticipation.
"Until now, sir Ace. I found him, and he’s ready to speak to you, with all of the evidence he has. Evidence he doesn’t mind you fact checking, because they’re a lot of it."
Grant cheesed hard after he had dropped the news, as he waited for a response from Ace.
Ace closed his eyes tightly, releasing the breath he had been holding.
Besides becoming a better man, part of the reason he had wanted to leave six months ago was to research the death of his father.
He didn’t know why, but there was a new need to just further look into things.
Never in all his years of living since his father passed away did he believe it was suicide.
There was no evidence stating otherwise, so he had let it go.
But with new character insight, came ideas that he decided to research.
Unfortunately, his life was almost cut short before he could hear this breakthrough.
"Now’s the time Ace. You have to speak. You have to get up, and be the man you’re supposed to be," he spoke to himself in his mind.
He kept on encouraging himself, as Grant sat there patiently. Holding the hope in his heart that this was enough to get Ace active again.
"Where does he want to meet?" Ace thought, but lifted his brow when Grant gasped.
"You just asked me a question, Sir Ace. You spoke to me!" He leaped to his feet in jubilation.
"I did?" He asked, and jerked in shock when he heard his voice loudly in his ears. "I did!" He cried out, rising to his feet.
"You absolutely did!" Grant cheered, and rushed to hug him.
He returned Grant’s hug sincerely. With everything that had happened to him, Grant had proven he wasn’t wrong to have taken him in so many years ago.
"You did it, Grant," he said as they separated.
Holding on to his shoulders, he shook it. "You did it!"
"And you too, Sir Ace. You overcame your silence. Now we’re going to get everyone back that has hurt you."
Ace let his hand fall from Grant’s shoulders.
He returned to the spot he sat before, but this time, remained standing.
"What is the verdict from my fake death?" He asked, much to Grant’s surprise.
"You heard what me and sir Landon talked about?" His eyes widened.
"I did. And it was hard for me to remain silent, whilst you both carried on. But I understood at the end of the day why it had to happen," he said.
"Well, your funeral is going to be tomorrow. You’re assumed dead because your body wasn’t found. Experts say it’s impossible for you to have survived falling off from that height," Grant explained.
Ace felt his heart twist with raw pain slicing through it.
"And— A-nd Dream?" He stuttered, as his heart broke just by calling out her name. "Do you know how she’s taking the news?"
"I don’t know, sir Ace. All I know is that she hasn’t missed a day of school since the video was broadcasted. Don’t you think it’s a bit odd that Ms Fay would let her go to school during such a tough time?" He asked.
"No, Grant. Don’t think that awful of Fay. She’s the one around Dream. She’s the one that knows what the child needs best. Maybe she wants to keep her distracted, so she doesn’t mourn for too long."
"Are you sure though, Sir Ace? You know I respect and adore Ms Fay, but I think she’s over you, and wasn’t really impacted by your death," he said.
Ace’s face contorted with curiosity, as he turned to face Grant who he had been backing for a while.
"What are you talking about, Grant? Why does it sound like you have something to tell me?"
Grant chided himself in his mind. He just had to open his big mouth, and now, he had to spill the entire truth.
"Sir Ace, don’t get offended with what I’m about to tell you," he begged.
"Offended?" Ace laughed. "I don’t think I have it in me to be offended right now, so please go ahead."
"Well the truth is, Ms Fay went out with some man the night after your shooting was announced. She went out with him last night too. And she looked like she had a good time."
Ace inhaled sharply, as if he had been sucker punched in the guts.
It was the worst kind of pain on earth. Even worse than the pain he went through in his initial healing phase.
But he realized there was also some kind of understanding in him.
"She can do whatever she likes. I put her through hell. It’s not strange she wants nothing more to do with me. And I don’t think she deserves to be judged for whichever way she chooses to move." He shrugged.
"Are you sure you’re not hurt by this, sir Ace?" He asked.
"Oh don’t get me wrong, Grant. It does hurt that the woman I love has moved on from me. But good for her. She deserves to be happy, and if it’s with someone else, then so be it."
"Wow, sir Ace. You’ve grown a lot in six months. Before, you would have swore you’d never let her be happy with anyone if that person isn’t you," he said with awe in his voice, purposely withholding the fact that Ace also knew the man Fay had gone out with.
"I feel that way deep down, but I also know you can’t force love. Reign loved me, right? But whilst I felt some kind of compassion for her, I could never reciprocate her love and obsession. It is what it is at the end of the day. Anyway, let’s move on from that and talk about justice."
Grant sighed tiredly. "I was hoping to hear about some sort of arrest already. But it looks like King and Reign are on the run. Which is so weird, because he’s supposed to be the governor. Oh, and he’s being investigated for stealing the elections too," Grant divulged.
"So much to unpack. How did my family take the news?"
"Your mum is terribly sick, and your grandma would likely attend the funeral in a wheelchair, because she’s also having a really hard time. Your sisters haven’t stopped crying. The staff too, especially Marilyn, and Alice. But the family has agreed that the funeral has to be held at the Deep Blue Sea hotel, tomorrow."
He bobbed his head, whilst thoroughly hiding his pain.
"Alright. And Celine?"
Grant scoffed, and rolled his eyes. "She already checked into the Deep Blue Sea, in wait for the funeral. My sources saw no sorrow in her face. Just smugness all through."
"I wouldn’t have expected otherwise. Lastly, go to Landon. Tell him to arrange for the safe arrival of Mr Aaron. When he gets to the country, Grant," he walked closer to him, and placed an arm on his shoulders. "Bring him to me," he said in the voice of a determined man.
