THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 249: PAST TRUTHS
Chapter 249: PAST TRUTHS
Doctor Alexander, and Landon met at the parking lot of Grant’s apartment.
Getting over the awkwardness of meeting him that way, Landon walked up to him to shake hands.
"Grant told me everything you did for Ace. You didn’t have to, but I’m grateful you did," he said, stretching out his hands.
"It was nothing," he replied.
Together, they walked up the stairs, to the hidden apartment.
Landon knocked, and Grant immediately opened the door.
"Oh," his face fell when he saw the other man with Landon wasn’t the man they were expecting.
"What is it, Grant?" Alexander asked, as Grant stepped out of the way so they could come in.
"Nothing. I just thought it would be someone else with Sir Landon," he replied.
"Speaking of someone else, our guy should be here in thirty minutes. Where’s Ace?" Landon asked, looking around the living room.
"Right here," Ace replied, stepping out of his room.
Alexander’s heart did a double take on hearing Ace’s voice.
"You’re speaking again?" He blurted out before he could control his thoughts.
Ace chortled heartily. "It seems like I am." He shrugged.
"Finally," Landon muttered, and strode forward to hug him. "Finally man!" He hugged him tighter.
"Can I at least check his head?" Alexander called from behind, when they wouldn’t let go of each other.
"Oh, sorry. Sure you can do your thing," Landon said, stepping aside.
"Do I still need to keep the bandage on?" Ace asked, as Alexander walked over to him.
"I think so. But I wouldn’t be too sure until I check it out. Could you sit for a few minutes?" He asked, taking out his gloves..
"Yeah sure."
Ace sat on the chair he usually would sit, when he was spaced out and lost in his thoughts.
Alexander drew closer to him, and very gently, began to take off his bandage.
"Wow, that healed so nicely," Grant, who had stood on his toes so he could stretch his neck to properly see what was happening, whistled from behind.
"Yeah, you’re right, Grant. At this rate, I expect the scars to completely fade in at most, six months," he said. "You could always go the cosmetic surgery route if you want it gone sooner," Alexander suggested.
"Nah. Not just yet. There are other things to think about."
"Alright."
He replaced the bandage, and secured it in place.
"All done," he said, and stepped back to take a proper look.
"Hey, you’re talking now. Wouldn’t you shave off all these hair on your head, and chin? You look like a caveman," Landon said.
"What would you call this house?" Ace fired back wittily.
"Oh common Sir Ace. Don’t hurt my feelings," Grant faked being hurt.
"Grant, drop your toes please. This isn’t a ballerina class," Ace said, and they all burst into laughter.
"You’re really back, man." Landon patted his shoulders, and squeezed affectionately.
"Well it’s all thanks to Grant, and doctor Alexander. To think I didn’t like him because I knew he was interested in Fay. You saved my life man, and for that, I’d forever be grateful."
"Nah, don’t bother about it. I just did my job."
"Then you can’t be mad he kissed Ms Fay, since you’re so grateful to him."
Alexander, and Grant said at the same time.
Ace was bobbing his head following Alexander’s words, when the silence that ensued due to what Grant had just said, made him aware of what he had actually said.
He turned sharply, and Alexander expertly moved back.
"How do you even know that, Grant?" Landon asked, recovering from the shock of the gossip.
Grant’s lips pursed, as his bulged eyes danced from one end of the room to the other.
"I can explain," Alexander said.
"Yeah, I’d like to hear you explain why you were kissing a woman who was once your patient. Also, again, how the fuck did you know, Grant?" Landon asked.
Much to their surprise, Ace chuckled. It started with a chuckle, then graduated into laughter.
Slowly, he rose to his feet, and walked up to Alexander who didn’t have much space to move behind anymore, because his back was practically against the wall.
Ace’s hand went to his shoulders, as the laughter disappeared from his eyes.
"You know what’s so funny, doctor?" He asked.
"Uhmm no," Alexander replied cautiously.
"I wouldn’t have been mad if she ended up with you. Sure I would have raged in the first ten years, but deep down, I’d be happy she ended up with someone honorable, who would take care of her."
"Really?" Landon asked in a shocked voice.
"Really?" Grant followed in disbelief.
"Really?" Alexander muttered, in a voice filled with hope.
"Yeah, really. But fuck you still," he said calmly, as he squeezed the spot he was holding tightly.
"Errmm, what are you doing, Ace?" Alexander asked, as the bones of his shoulder began to squish painfully.
"Nothing. Just being grateful to you for kissing the mother of my child. That’s all," he continued to squeeze, until Alexander began to writhe in pain.
"That’s enough, Ace. Remember, he saved your life." Landon quickly stepped forward, and grabbed him from behind.
"Let me go, Lan," he fought, trying to retain his hold on Alexander’s shoulders.
"Move away. I can’t hold him for much longer!" Landon raised his voice.
Getting the message, Alexander hastened his steps towards the exit door.
"Let me go, Lan!" Ace called.
"No. Ouch! How are you so strong, despite only recovering from something so life threatening?"
"He kissed Fay!" He screamed in response.
"In my defense, she didn’t really reciprocate. I even told her I knew it was because she loved you. She didn’t deny it!" Alexander explained from the door.
"Oh shit!" Grant muttered.
He just realized it was a good thing he didn’t tell Ace who Fay had gone out with twice.
"But you still kissed her!" Ace said, struggling against Landon.
"I know, and I’m sorry, but I don’t regret doing it. Besides, the real culprit is Xylon Bass. He’s the one who tried to hurt her."
Ace immediately stopped moving, and Landon let go.
"What? What did that bastard do to her?" He asked, turning around.
"He tried to hurt her in the open. If I wasn’t around the premises, he could have seriously hurt her more than he did."
"Physically?" Ace asked, getting angrier.
"Yep," he replied.
"Calm down, Ace," Landon pleaded. "Just breathe," he said, knowing what was coming next.
Ace did breathe, but right after, he turned to Landon.
"Lan?" He called.
"Yeah, what do you need?"
"When we’re through with Celine, I want Xylon’s head next," he said calmly.
Landon bobbed his head in agreement.
"You know I’ve wanted his head ever since he tried to play a fast one on Spades ten years ago. I don’t mind it." Landon shrugged.
"Good."
Ace took a deep breath, and when he turned to face Alexander again, he was smiling.
"Thank you doctor," he said. "Really, for everything you did for me."
"It’s fine?" Alexander’s brow lifted, not exactly sure the Ace he would be getting in a few seconds.
A knock sounded on the door, causing Landon to smile.
"He’s here," he announced.
"How did he know—" Grant’s voice faded, when Landon walked to the door, and opened it.
"Cam?" Ace called, on seeing his driver.
"It’s true, sir Ace. You’re alive," Cam said, dashing forward with tears in his eyes.
He hugged Ace, squeezing his eyes tightly in relief.
"Wow!" He blurted when they finally separated.
Ace chuckled, and ruffled his hair playfully. "You punk. Have you been good?" He asked.
"Depends on your definition of good, sir Ace. Depends on that." He shook his head.
"Wow, you grew up really well," Ace heard another voice say.
He looked up, and to his greatest surprise, instantly recognized the man that had just stepped in.
"Mr Aaron," he called, as Cam shifted so he could go forward.
"Ace Atticus. You were still a child the last time I saw you," he said, regarding Ace from his head to his toe.
"I’m glad you recognize me," Ace replied for lack of better words.
"You Atticus’ are always recognizable. It’s in your blood. Your gait, and composure. Aura like the little ones say," he said, and laughed.
Landon closed the door, as they all surrounded Aaron.
"Well, I guess we need to get straight to the point. I’m not staying in the states past tonight. Celine Atticus has never stopped looking for me," he said, and Ace’s heart skipped a beat.
"Tell me everything. I want to know everything that happened to my father."
"And you will. But it would be better if I speak to you alone. Your father’s greatest undoing was trusting everyone around him. I would hate for you to go down the same path."
As he spoke, he looked at the bandage in Ace’s head, and shook his own.
"Sure, let’s go into my room then," Ace said, and turned towards its direction.
