THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 215: THIRSTY
Chapter 215: THIRSTY
Ace’s forehead lowered, until it was resting on Fay’s.
He cupped her face with his palms, as they stood in the centre of the lonely road that no cars seemed to pass through.
"Why are you doing this?" Fay whispered through her quivering lips.
"Because I don’t understand what is going on anymore. I’m so confused, Fay. I’m so—"
His lips moved to claim hers, but she shifted her face to the side, dodging the action.
In the same breath, she stepped back, creating some space between them again.
"No," she said with stronger conviction in both her voice, and her heart this time around. "That ship has sailed, Ace."
"So why did you sleep with me? If we’re so done, why did you do that?"
"To show you that sex doesn’t equal love. It’s just sex. We could easily do it right now, and it would still not mean a thing to me."
His heart sank at her abrasive response. She was being brutal. Showing him no atom of mercy.
If he was a more reasonable man, he would have walked away already. But no matter how hard he tried to act unaffected, he just wasn’t.
Four years of secretly pining for her. Going into her room he had made certain not to change a thing in, just to feel her presence.
Spraying the cologne he was sure she left him on special occasions..
He had told himself none of these things meant he cared about her. Of course that had also been a lie.
"I met your cousin the other day. She said you were actually cousins and not sisters. When I tried to further ask some questions, she ran away. Do you see why I’m confused now?" He finally said, after leaving his thoughts..
"No, Ace. I don’t see it. You were so sure four years ago I was out to destroy you and your family. You didn’t care to investigate the tapes, because deep down, you wanted it’s contents to be true."
He shook his head in denial. "That’s not true."
"Oh it was. You were intentional about everything that happened that night. From bringing me to the garden, and making me vulnerable enough to share my body with you, to chasing me out like a dog despite how much I begged you to listen to me."
"Fay," he called breathlessly.
"You know what hurt me the most? It wasn’t that you believed the tapes. It was the fact you didn’t even give me a chance to prove my innocence. You played God, judge and jury, and the only reason I can tell you did that is because you hate me. That’s true hatred, Ace."
"No," he shook his head, and moved towards her again. "That’s not true. I never hated you. I could never hate you."
"Just stop it, Ace. Please stop it. We’re done. Nothing ties us together anymore."
"Not even our daughter?" He asked.
She turned around, and walked into the car.
He wasn’t going to drop the idea that Dream was his kid. Maybe that was going to be his biggest punishment.
Folding her hands across her chest, she went deep into her thoughts.
After a few minutes of thinking hard, she came to the conclusion that she was right to keep him away from Dream.
He hadn’t suffered enough. His apologies didn’t feel genuine yet. Until they did, she would protect her baby from him and his family.
Her eyes went to the sky, and she saw it had darkened.
Ace noticed too. Taking a deep breath, he turned towards the car..
Without saying another word, he started the car, and drove all the way to the police station.
He found the perfect spot, and parked the car.
"Let’s go," he said, and came down before she replied to him.
She didn’t have much to say anyway, so she was grateful for the awkwardness.
Stepping out of the car, she headed straight for the entrance..
In less than twenty minutes, they were out of the station, and back into the car.
Just as they sat down, and he started the car, Fay’s stomach rumbled.
She held her breath, and quietly covered her stomach with her hand..
Too shy to take a look at him, and see if he had noticed, she buried her body into the chair instead.
Ace heard, but pretended not to. He drove straight to the finger food restaurant, and parked.
"I thought you were taking me home?" She asked.
"You’re coming or not?"
She rolled her eyes, but stepped out anyway.
Even after all these years, she couldn’t resist this restaurant.
The food here was just really good. Filled with grease and probably unhealthy fat, but she loved it still.
He opened the entrance door, and waited for her to go in first.
She did, and he followed right behind her.
"Blaire ran out of the counter to welcome them."
"Ace?" She called, placing a kiss on his cheeks.
"You came too!" She exclaimed, hugging Fay.
She stepped back right after, and frowned when she saw how awkward their faces were.
"Did you two fight?" She asked.
"Oh my God, Fay, you’re fine! I just saw in the news that you were kidnapped!" Claire said, bursting into them.
She ran, and hugged the both of them at the same time.
"Kidnapped?" Blaire asked.
"Yeah, we need to get them a table. Call Silas, Blaire," Claire said, practically dragging them towards one of the rooms.
They all took their seats, both still silent.
"Are you two just not going to say anything?" Blaire asked in frustration as she served them.
"Thank you," they both said at the same time.
Their eyes met, but Fay was quick to move hers to the plate before her.
"Can’t I have this to go?" Fay asked in the middle of the twins exchanging confused glances.
"Because you want to get away from Ace? Wow, I used to think my brother was hopelessly in love with you, and you with him. Four years later, I still feel the same, but it’s like you two just do not want to admit it," Claire said, shaking her head.
"Let it go, Claire," Ace mused.
"Alright. Enjoy your meal. We don’t have take outs Ms Fay."
She rose to her feet, and dragged Blaire with her.
"What are you doing?" Blaire protested in a low voice.
"Giving them some privacy, you moron."
"Oh." She smiled, and became more agreeable.
They closed the door behind them, leaving Ace, and Fay alone.
Ace’s phone buzzed amidst the ongoing silence, and he retrieved it from his pocket.
As he took his call, Fay began to eat. She was starving. And food was still the one thing she absolutely refused to resist.
The first chip went into her mouth, and she closed her eyes to savour the taste.
Ace who was talking to Landon went speechless for a few seconds, as he stared at her face.
He suddenly felt thirsty. But it wasn’t for water. He wanted something even more moist.
"You still there, bro?"
"Uhmm what were you saying again?" He cleared his throat, pushing his dirty thoughts aside.
"I asked if you’ve taken Fay home."
"Not yet. She’s eating first."
"Alright. Let me know when you’re free, we have something important to discuss."
He was only too happy to end the call, and give Fay’s face the true attention it deserved.
His theory of how the messier she got, the more pretty she looked still rang true to this day.
She had practically tussled with a mad man throughout the entire day, yet she looked stunning devouring her food.
"Do you want me to order more chicken?" He asked, watching her stuffed mouth.
As if she had been snuffed out of a trance, she stopped mid chew, and lifted her head in shame.
She shook her head, because she didn’t want to look even more like a glutton by talking with a full mouth.
"Are you sure? Or you can get that one to go."
She shrugged, and he smiled. He didn’t care what anyone said, that was a positive response.
Her hand moved to grab the juice bottle and pour some into her cup, but he had the same thought..
Their hands touched, and shivers ran through their spines in sync.
"Go ahead." He urged, leaning back.
He watched as she poured herself a big cup, and downed it all.
"Can I go home now?" she asked, fully satisfied.
"It’s raining," he said.
Before she could stop it, she blushed. Her mind had sold her out by pushing out an image of them under the rain. A very dirty image.
Her eyes went to his throat as he swallowed.
It was unfortunate he was still so sexy. Ignoring the alarm bells, she travelled all the way to his lips, but froze when she found his eyes watching her instead.
"There’s no one here, Fay. We can practise your sex without love theory a second time if you like," he said boldly, and despite her attempts to appear unfazed, a tear dropped, but it wasn’t from her eyes.
