THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRYBABY -
Chapter 213: INQUIRIES
Chapter 213: INQUIRIES
"Ace, you need to leave," Seth said, going towards them.
Ace saw what he was about to do, even before he did it.
He stepped behind, and picked Dream from the ground.
"Leave me alone!" She screamed.
"Ace please, put her down. She’s scared," Seth begged.
"Listen to him, Ace. She’s clearly scared," Landon said.
Breathing heavily, he turned Dream around to face him.
She stopped crying when she saw his face.
"Are you my daddy?" She suddenly asked.
Ace’s heart skipped a beat, his eyes going to Seth.
"Let’s ask your great grandfather. I’m sure he can answer that question."
"Please Ace. Please just let her go. I can’t say anything. Not until Fay is here."
"I don’t give a fuck about what Fay wants you to say, or not to say. It’s a pretty simple question. Is she my daughter?" He asked, his voice thick with anxiety.
Seth plopped to a seat in defeat. Bowing his head, he covered it with his palm.
"She is," he finally admitted in muffled words.
Ace’s breath caught against his chest, as he hugged Dream tightly.
"I have a daughter. I have a daughter!" He said over and over again.
"Daddy." Dream held on to him dearly.
She had dreamed countlessly of the day she finally saw her father.
Never in her young imagination did she think it would be so soon.
"Baby," he dropped her to the ground, and cupped her face in his hands. "What’s your name?"
"Dream," she replied, and smiled.
His heart lurched from both pain and excitement.
Pain because of the years he had lost. Excitement because he had finally found the missing piece.
"Dream," he repeated, to familiarise his tongue with it. "I’m going to go get your mummy, and then we can all talk, okay?"
"Is mummy okay?" Dream asked, as her lips began to quiver.
"Shhh, don’t cry baby girl. Your mummy is fine. I’ll bring her home, okay?"
"Promise?" She pulled out her pinky..
He nodded enthusiastically, and locked his around hers.
"Okay!" She kissed his cheeks, then turned around and went to Seth.
"Baby," Seth picked her up, and placed her on his lap. "Did you want something?" He asked the little girl who couldn’t stop smiling.
"I found my daddy!" She said, in excitement.
"Yes you did." He bobbed his head, and hugged her dearly..
"Let’s go Lan," Ace said, after sparing his daughter one last look.
"Sure," he said, but first, he went to Dream. "Hey." He tapped her shoulders.
She turned around, and lifted her tiny brows, curiously.
"I’m Landon, your father’s best friend. That makes me like a father to you too," he said.
"Really? So I have two daddy’s?" Her eyes widened.
"No," he laughed. "You have a daddy, and a cool uncle."
"Yay!" She threw her little hands in the air, jumped out of Seth’s laps, and hugged Landon.
"We have to go now, but we’ll see you later, okay?"
She nodded, and turned to Ace. He smiled at her, his heart melting when she waved.
"See you later baby."
Together, the duo drove out of the compound, after setting the map that was sent to them.
"Wow, you have a daughter," Landon said in disbelief.
"I know right! Shit still feels so unreal. I can’t believe Fay hid that from me. I swear to God, she’s going to get it hot from me when I find her."
"Sure, but we should focus on finding her first. I’m worried," Landon said, as his forehead creased.
"Yeah, me too."
"Because you care about her?" An amused smile danced in Landon’s eyes.
"Or maybe I just don’t want the mother of my child to be hurt?"
"I’m surprised you believe that. Didn’t you say she’s dishonest? How come you believe she carried your child? When did that even—"
Ace suddenly applied the brake, causing them to sway back and forth.
"Common, slow down man!" Landon hollered.
"Yeah, sorry about that. Have you placed the call to the police? They should be on their way there too just in case," he said.
"Are you trying to change the direction of the conversation?"
"Landon?"
"Fine," Landon laughed, and picked up his phone to check for the confirmation text.
"Well have they?"
"Yep. They’re also on their way there."
"Great."
Ace kept his eyes on the road, but his thoughts were in chaos.
He was supposed to be in an emergency meeting Celine had called for, but here he was on a mission to find the mother of his child..
The woman that had kept his child away from him.
She had all the opportunity in the world to tell him, but purposely didn’t.
To what end? Was she just comfortable with never telling him? Just because of how much her hatred for him ran?
What he didn’t understand was why she slept with him if she hated him that much.
"You slept with her too, and you claim not to care about her feelings."
That voice shamed him good again, and he gave up on the direction of that thought.
The truth was, they both had a lot to talk about.
But first, he had to find her.
"You need to take a turn here," Landon called his attention.
He quickly turned the steering towards the new direction they were headed.
He drove for a few more minutes, and they finally spotted the house.
"Crazy bastards picked the perfect hideout," he said as they drove into the compound.
"What’s the plan, James bond? Are we just going to walk into the house, and demand to see her?" Landon questioned.
"As opposed to? I don’t think their plan was to hurt her. She wouldn’t be taken to a house as nice as this if it was."
"Now you’re a detective? Didn’t know that," he snarked.
"Get out of the car, Landon," Ace said, already pulling himself out.
Landon sighed in defeat, and followed after him.
If they were going to die, at least it would be together, he thought.
They had just taken a step towards the house, when from behind, a car pulled up.
Their heads turned at the same time to see two men step out of the car.
Relief washed over them when they saw they were cops.
"Do you know how stupid it is to go into a danger zone as civilians?" Officer Dexter asked both men, on reaching them.
"We couldn’t leave it to just two officers," Ace answered sarcastically.
"Nice try, smarty pants. We specifically asked the team to stay behind, so as not to signal the bad guys. Now if you’ll please excuse us, we’re here to do our jobs."
"Hell no!" Ace protested firmly. "That’s the mother of my child. I’m going in with you."
"That cannot happen, okay?" The other officer, Perez, said.
"You don’t understand, officer. He’s not going to let you get your way. And if he’s going in, I’m going in too," Landon said.
Both officers exchanged tired looks. Perez nodded, and Dexter sighed as he turned to them again.
"Fine, suit yourselves. But you have to stay behind. We can’t protect you if something goes wrong and you’re not close."
"Okay," Ace replied..
"I don’t think anyone’s here anymore. Certainly not the guys that drove the ma’am here," Perez said.
"Good, then this should go on smoothly," Dexter replied.
He kicked the first door down, and they entered the house.
The next door was a little stronger, and more tricky to break down.
"Allow me help," Landon said.
"What can you do?" Perez asked.
"Just allow him, officer," Ace backed his friend.
The officers shaking their heads, stepped back, and Landon stepped forward.
He brought out a pin from his back pocket, and used it to pick the lock.
It opened after the second try, and he smiled victoriously.
When he turned around, he met the menacing gazes of the cops.
"I forget my keys a lot, so I always carry a pin," he quickly explained.
Dexter shook his head, and nudged him behind.
He opened the door at once, and they stepped into a living room.
"Fay!" Ace called, dashing towards her figure laying on the ground.
A man was seated by her body, crying profusely.
"Ace?" She turned, just as he dropped to the ground to carry her into his arms. "What are you doing here?"
"Have you lost your mind? Everyone’s worried about you. Your driver said you were kidnapped!" He screamed in her face.
She moved from him, and straightened up.
"Don’t move!" Officer Dexter pointed a gun to Gabriel who was trying to rise to his feet.
"Don’t hurt him!" Fay suddenly jumped in. "He’s a fool, but he has done nothing wrong," she said.
"Why are you defending this kidnaper? Who the hell is he?!" Ace shouted in disbelief.
"An old friend. Look I’m fine, okay?"
"You didn’t look fine when I came into the room."
"Just give it a rest, and stop acting like you care about me!" She hissed, and moved to rise to her feet.
Ace yanked her right back down, and lifted her chin to face him.
"Since you’re so fine, then you can cohesively tell me why the fuck you kept the existence of my child away from me!"
